The great thing about this recipe is that I can just throw on extra veggies when I am steaming veggies for us, and make this tasty homemade meal for the baby. I always have doubt about those baby food in supermarkets and think that it would be healthier if I can make my own. Packed with protein and containing ALL the essential acids your baby needs, it’s ideal for vegetarian and non-vegetarian babies alike. The original inspiration for these recipes came from Robyn Barker’s fantastic book Australian Baby and Toddler Meals. This meal contains egg and should only be given to babies once egg has been appropriately introduced to their diet.
If you are freezing this meal, it needs to be quite moist or it will be too dry when defrosted.

We tend to divide our mixture up and add extra seasoning and spice to one portion for the adults – the rest of the mixture, with its subtle flavour, is perfect for baby and a great way to help your baby enjoy quinoa if he prefers to eat with his fingers rather than a spoon! I have some thoughts about a crisp rice, but would love to here if you already have a preferred substitution.
