Seafood contributes a range of nutrients, notably the omega-3 fatty acids that are so good for us. So I started this challenge  with my family (me, hubby, 2 1st grade girls, 10 month old) this week to cut out processed foods in 14 weeks. Week 1: Eat a minimum of two different fruits or vegetables (preferably organic) with every breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal.
We are on day 2 and not perfect but this is what we have done so far and I like to be transparent with my patients.  I like to share this to show you that at Trinity, we are working to practice what we preach. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least two times a week while the USDA Dietary Guidelines states that there is moderate evidence showing consumption of 8 ounces per week of a variety of seafood is associated with reduced cardiac deaths (Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010, p.39). The general rule of thumb is, everyone should drink 8, 8oz glasses of water a day, and for every hour you exercise, drink an additional 8 oz of water.


Double your water intake for a week (plain water, not sugary sports drinks or diet sodas) and you'll feel the difference.
