This means to constantly think of ways to remember certain facts or information through acronyms, abbreviations, jokes and stories. All of this is distracting and you should not participate in any of this because they are bad mentally for your other upcoming exams.
Moreover, sleep plays a big role on not only the physical being but also the mental and emotional being of us. Don’t ever forget that we have to cling on to God for strength and discipline to study and to not give up.
Starbucks, the bookstore, Cosi, laundry areas, printing services, the local bars on campus…EVERYWHERE accepts these as a form of payment.
After all they are free for all students, and it’s your duty as a Temple Owl to attend. Philadelphia may be the city of Brotherly Love, but Temple is located in the heart of North Philadelphia, and if wandering alone it can be quite dangerous.
If you enjoy athletics but can’t commit to a demanding team schedule you can join an intramural team. There are a lot of great people at the University of Maine, many who are willing to help a first year student at any time.
If you over think things it will be incredibly stressful for you, sometimes you just need to relax and have a little fun.
Say hi to your neighbors, roommates, and especially RAs when you see them, its just the polite thing to do. It makes you look like you can’t remember where your ID or keys are without them dangling right beneath your chin. They can be a great person to introduce you to people as well as be a helpful resource for you when it comes to things like scheduling and internships.
There are only around 6,500 undergrads which means you going to have to actually do something and attend things to meet people.
Not a ton of people live off campus so everyone mostly goes to local bars on the weekends or parties in on-campus apartments.
Getting teachers to like you and be invested in your learning is a good way to help with grades. Also as you get older you might have to start dressing nicer, especially if you’re in the Business school or for any networking events. Villanova is lucky to have a ton of alumni connections in high places and the school offers lots of opportunities to meet them whether on Facebook, Linked In, or through seminars and events held on campus.
Put them in BOLD red and stick it on your dashboard or pin board in your room, or even your study table, to remind you of the important dates and times. Colours help to stimulate our brains to remember them better, especially if you use them for association purposes. Moreover, you can even place small snacks on each part of a page, so when you finish reading and understanding that part, you could eat the snack as a reward for studying. Your body needs a moment to rest as well but with the proportion of the amount of studying done. Take a deeeeeeep breath, count in your head mentally one to five slowly, and exhale slowly.
Discussion can be done and you do not only help yourself but you are helping others to find the answers too. Lack of sleep promotes fatigue, lack of awareness and emotional instability, which are not beneficial conditions to be in, especially for an exam.
It’s not worth burning the midnight oil if you’re not going to be physically, mentally and emotionally fit for the exam.
However, you should also hit up the Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park for a day of tailgaiting and cheering on Philadelphia’s finest. However, if you were to be in need of few mid-week drinks to keep your spirits up (and are 21 of course) the best places to go on campus are Maxis and the Horse. Temple has TWO gyms complete with an indoor track, every machine known to man, weight rooms, basketball courts, raquetball courts, and swimming pools. We remember what it was like moving in to this strange big place not knowing anything about where to go. So many students don’t have those fun experiences by studying hours while remaining in their room. Use this to your advantage because you never know where that handshake or that meeting will lead you. Students  at Villanova have a ton of school spirit, almost to the point of being obnoxious but that’s what makes it fun, right?
You may think that due to the stimulatory effect of the caffeine and energy drinks, that you can stay awake longer and study effectively. The subway is an incredibly cheap and quick form of transportation to head into the city which opens up, as the Little Mermaid would say, A WHOLE NEW WORLD.
There are also group fitness classes hosted by certified instructors such as yoga, spinning, cardio kick, and pilates. Temple is adamant about safety and has police patrolling on bikes as well as 9-1-1 booths that provide a button to press that ensures an officer will arrive in a flash.
You are paying hundreds of dollars per credit hour, so make your parents happy and your teachers respect you by going to class. Either in the dorm hall or around campus multiple reports of students intoxicated will land them in trouble with campus police or with an RA on duty. It will make your academic career much easier by having a faculty member that you can trust. It was very stressful, but thankfully many older students would help out when you are in a time of need. However, the common aftermath of the drink is fatigue, which can be detrimental to the body.
Taking slow and deep breaths help to keep the oxygen flow in your body and your brain going at a good pace and prepares you for the next battle of conquering the next few parts of the lecture.
If you are responsible and have a great group of friends around to keep you out of trouble your semester will be a blast. For example finding buildings, can be very confusing if you don’t have your campus map.
Never let that balance become uneven because there is always consequences for letting that happen. Think of a study group as an accountability partner, with everyone in the study group motivating and encouraging each other to do more.
Pray during your preparations for your exam, before your study sessions and especially before and after an exam.
