Come experience an overnight French immersion adventure with Camp Tournesol, the leaders in French camps in the GTA! Camp Tournesol offers exciting travel adventures for French-speaking students who want to engage in a truly memorable French Immersion experience.
A day in the life of a Camp Tournesol overnight camper is filled with fun activities like rock wall climbing, campfires, sing-a-longs, archery, and much more – all in French.
This is a short “away from home” trip that gives campers a taste of adventure and independence… all in French.
Campers are not guaranteed to be back on time on Friday to make the daily bus service so please plan accordingly. During these trips, all meals and activities are included, both at the day camp (provided by La Recolte Catering – check out the menu here) and at the destination. Check out our detailed and comprehensive parent handbook for the French Overnight Camp by clicking on the awesome cover page below! Situated on 263 acres of breath-taking countryside located on the Oak Ridges Moraine and Ontario GreenBelt, Cedar Glen is the perfect backdrop for an outdoor retreat.
Campers will experience a true cottage country overnight French camp atmosphere with a waterfront beach, a large dining hall, the raising of the flag in the morning and lots of outdoor activities.
YLCC’s Pigeon Lake Leadership Training Centre is located right on the shores of beautiful Pigeon Lake in the heart of the Kawarthas.
On Friday around lunchtime, the group will leave the grounds already planning their trip for the next year!
This is a fun-filled retreat in Ontario’s gorgeous Muskoka cottage country at the stunning Camp Tamarack location – just 15 minutes north of Gravenhurst. What a fantastic opportunity to get your child ready for their back to school in French by spending an entire week having fun in the outdoors with our experienced French counsellors. From Sunday evening to Friday afternoon, campers will spend their days enjoying the wilderness and participating in a variety of land activities such as high and low ropes, rock climbing, quidditch, hiking in the trails, soccer, basketball, campfires, as well as water activities such as canoeing, kayaking, swimming in the lake and a special tubing treat at the end of the week.
Here’s the twist: all counselors are French and all activities, meals and even the evening campfire will be spent speaking French. A UNIQUE and complete French immersion opportunity for a whole week at our French camp in Ontario! We offer transportation from various locations in the GTA via school buses accompanied by our counselors.

Camp Tamarack’s private 1000 acre property is in the heart of Muskoka and surrounds a pristine private lake.
The site offers one of the most extensive, unique and challenging high ropes circuit with elements such as the Quick Drop, Vertical Playground and Flying Squirrel, a 40ft climbing tower, a fleet of over 20 canoes and kayak, 9 half-court tennis courts and a large archery range.
In addition to the outdoor facilities, there are numerous indoor facilities for use during rainy day activities including a dance studio and a state-of-the-art theatre. Meals are served family style in our 4000 square foot dining hall lined with inscriptions and plaques featuring campers from over 35 years ago.
Onsite, campers will stay in wood cabins with electricity, containing bunk beds and private shelving for each camper.
They will, of course, also participate in arts and crafts activities, French sing-along songs and folk tales around the campfire in the evening, as well as a once a week French movie. You also have the option of using our transportation service to reach the Muskoka location for a fee of $45 for the return trip or drop your child off at the camp directly yourself.
Please note that the stops as well as times will be determined based on the registrations. Please refer to the location page for a list as well as pick up time and drop off times.
A weekend away in late spring specifically designed to develop leadership skills and to prepare for the CIT program. Take a look at some of our videos  and photos from past French overnight trips to see why our campers come back year after year. You can also read the daily recap we maintain to keep our parents in the loop.
All of our overnight trips are supervised by an experienced teacher who acts as a “Chef de mission”. In mid-May, campers will receive a package which includes a detailed itinerary, address of accommodation, and a list of things to bring. 1-Early Bird Discount: The early bird discount of $50 per week for all overnight camps, expires on March 23rd 2016 and can not be extended. 2- Sibling discount: There is a discount of $25 per program for any brother or sister applying to an overnight camp. Leaving an area without permission AND without a counselor for children under 6 years old or a buddy.
Making efforts to express yourself in French all day and try to use English as rarely as possible. Meet with the Camp Coordinator and phone call to parent to identify a potentially successful strategy to improve the situation.
After consultation with the Camp Director, parent will be asked to pick up their child from the camp for that day and discuss the issue with their child. Note that there is a possibility that the child will be asked not to accompany us during our field trip on Thursdays if we feel that his behavior precludes us from ensuring his safety and that of the other campers.
About Camp TournesolSince 2001, we have provided French camps in the GTA for tens of thousands of children ages 4 to 14.
Overnight camps are also available for children ages 8 to 15, as well as a leadership weekend and an exciting 13-day trip to Quebec. Whether you're looking for a small, comfortable, luxurious primary home or rustic getaway, a small cabin can be your answer.
The most popular small homes are found in the cottage home plans and cabin house plans design categories.

Great ideas for building your own small cabin A Materials List is NOT available for this particular COOL House Plan. Campers ages 8-15 have an exciting selection of overnight camps to choose from, including an expedition in 4 regions of Quebec, or an action-packed cottage retreat at the beautiful Kawarthas, the country-side of Schomberg, or the gorgeous Muskoka lake.
And unlike most overnight camps, Camp Tournesol also offers a partial week overnight option for campers who prefer a gradual transition into the full week away-from-home experience. Unlike most French camps, we allow campers to come for a day or two to one of our day French campuses to get comfortable with the staff and the other campers. For all of our trips, transportation to the destination is included in the fee but daily transportation to the day camp is not included.. Campers will learn fun songs we call “chansons a repondre”, participate in a giant banagram game in French and play our “know your word gender” game (one of the hardest parts to master in French).
Each meal features a balanced and plentiful hot meal option as well as salad bars, breakfast bars and fresh fruit. Campers will also receive an initiation to the CIT program, review the expectations, the activities and the overview of a week as a CIT at Camp Tournesol. In order to achieve that, it is important that each camper conduct himself or herself in a respectful and appropriate way. Whether your child is Francophone, in French Immersion, or has no French experience, we have a day camp suitable for them. This shortened French immersion program is perfect for students who like discovering new places and making new friends, but are not yet ready for the full overnight experience. Our Tournesol buses then visit each French campus (on Tuesday or Wednesday) to pick up the campers and bring them to our destinations. Set on 60 acres of natural woods and fields with 900 feet of waterfront which is visible from anywhere on camp. While a good number of cabins have washroom facilities, those that do not have lovely facilities very close by to their cabins.
From Friday evening June 24th to Sunday afternoon June 26th, campers will participate in several activities led by our expert counselors to build their leadership skills as well as understand the importance of team building. Parents and Campers should review our guidelines together and ensure that your child understand them.
There are 6 high ropes elements, a rock climbing wall, canoeing, kayaking, fixed and non-fixed initiative tasks, two campfire areas, 12 camper cabins, 5 indoor meeting spaces and lots more, all located at our beautiful site. The camp has also built lovely shower facilities over the past few years and each camper has a beautiful private shower area.
As for all Tournesol French camps, all counsellors must submit a police background check and be trained for CPR and first aid. You will not be disappointed with their delicious meals from a certified Red Seal chef, friendly staff and welcoming accommodations!
Counsellors are in rooms adjacent to the campers or in the same cabin depending on the cabin’s configuration.
