For their Somewhere Back in Time World Tour in 2008 and 2009, Iron Maiden commissioned an Astraeus Airlines Boeing 757 as transport. For the “The Book of Souls World Tour in 2016”, the band upgraded to an ex-Air France Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet, supplied by Air Atlanta Icelandic (registered TF-AAK). The Hells Angels motorcycle club tried to get back into its headquarters four days after being evicted from the building they rented at the corner of Gage Avenue North and Beach Road.
Jaime Stephenson, a lawyer acting for the club, said in an email that “the matter was not disposed of completely and litigation and discussion is ongoing?.” She has said that the club intends to fight the eviction.
A club member also asked the judge if members could retrieve personal items from the building, according to a bailiff with Halton Bailiff Services who was involved with the eviction — but that request was also denied. The clubhouse was used by the Hells Angels motorcycle club as well as their puppet club, the Red Devils, according to an OPP officer. Stephenson has said the club “disputes the eviction and the basis for the eviction,” calling the matter an owner-tenant disagreement and denying that the club failed to pay its rent.
The scale-model aircraft, shaped like a manta ray, was designed by The Boeing Co., built by Cranfield Aerospace Limited of the United Kingdom, and flown in partnership with NASA.
The X-48C retained most dimensions of the B model, with a wingspan slightly longer than 20 feet and a weight of about 500 pounds. Because handling qualities of the X-48C were different from those of the X-48B, the project team modified the flight control system software, including flight control limiters to keep the airplane flying within a safe flight envelope. NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate and Boeing funded the X-48 technology demonstration research effort, which supported NASA's goals of reduced fuel burn, emissions, and noise.

NASA Research Test Pilot Frank Batteas, Associate Director for Flight Operations at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, was one of three pilots who ferried the first C-17 to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on Monday, April 23. This C-17, tail number 87-0025, was essentially hand-built for the sole purpose of developmental test and evaluation, with an estimated life span of five years.
Here is a new photo of the Somewhere Back In Time Tour Jet that will be flying the band around the world with Bruce Dickinson as the pilot.
The aeroplane was converted into a combi configuration, which enabled it to carry the band, their crew and stage production, thereby allowing the group to perform in countries which were previously deemed unreachable logistically. Interestingly, Iron Maiden’s 747-400 (TF-AAK) does not have a VIP interior; it’s filled with a standard three-class seating arrangement, as it’s being wet-leased from Iceland’s Air Atlanta Icelandic.

The X-48C is a version of NASA's X-48B blended wing body aircraft modified to evaluate the low-speed stability and control of a low-noise version of a notional hybrid-wing-body design. Primary changes to the X-48C model from the B model, which flew 92 flights at Dryden between 2007 and 2010, were geared to transforming it to an airframe noise-shielding configuration. This enabled a stronger and safer prototype flight control system suitable for future full-scale commercial hybrid or blended wing aircraft.
Air Force C-17 Globemaster III lifts off Runway 22L at Edwards Air Force Base April 23 on its way to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Batteas, who was assigned to the C-17 program as an Air Force test pilot for four years before coming to NASA, flew chase on C-17 T-1's first flight back in 1991.
After completing the extensive C-17 flight test program, the T-1 aircraft supported many other flight and propulsion test programs for the Air Force, NASA and others.
It was also repainted with a special Iron Maiden livery, which the airline decided to retain after receiving positive feedback from customers.

The customized livery and some minor interior modifications were handled by Volga-Dnepr Gulf, which allows for more space without the aircraft having to undergo a significant conversion to carry their equipment.
This design features a flattened fuselage with no tail, and engines mounted on top of the fuselage at the rear of the plane. External modifications included relocating the wingtip winglets inboard next to the engines, effectively turning them into twin tails. The focus of C-17 developmental flight testing for the Air Force and aeronautical research for NASA over its 21-year lifespan, the C-17 "T-1" test aircraft is being retired and will become part of the permanent collection at the National Museum of the Air Force.
Joint efforts included noise mitigation, throttle-only and engine health management projects. The design stems from concept studies for commercial aircraft that could be flying within 20 years. The first C-17 built, it served for 21 years as a developmental flight test and research aircraft for both the Air Force and NASA.
Finally, the project team replaced the X-48B's three 50-pound thrust jet engines with two 89-pound thrust engines. The aircraft had an estimated top speed of about 140 mph and a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet. Air Force's first C-17 Globemaster III, known as the T-1 aircraft, is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday, April 25, to the National Museum of the U.S. 15, 1991, when it was delivered to the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., for testing. Air Force at Dayton, Ohio, where it will become part of the museum's permanent exhibit of historic aircraft. The X-48C Hybrid Wing Body research aircraft flies over the intersection of several runways adjacent to the compass rose on Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards Air Force Base during one of the sub-scale aircraft's final test flights on Feb.
