Telemundo network is making some management changes and “realignment.” In an email to staff, President Luis Silberwasser today announced Jesus Torres Viera has been named EVP, Entertainment for Telemundo and NBCUniverso networks. This is a title change with added responsibilities for Torres Viera, who has been EVP of Programming and Content for Telemundo network sin ce 2013.
Silberwasser also announced the creation of the Production Management and Services unit, to be led by Claudia Foghini, SVP of Production Strategy, reporting directly to him.
I am pleased to announce that effective immediately, Jesus Torres Viera has been named EVP, Entertainment for the TELEMUNDO and NBCUNIVERSO Networks. Jesus will lead the group responsible for programming and marketing for both TELEMUNDO and NBC UNIVERSO, in addition to continue to supervise the production of the Networks’ entertainment shows.
NBC UNIVERSO started the year with a bang, posting its best performing month since network re-launch, driven by a new strategy, key new programs, and a more consistent scheduling strategy.
As part of this realignment, TELEMUNDO’s morning show, “Un Nuevo Dia,” will now be part of the entertainment group, under Jesus’s leadership.
Finally, I am excited to announce the creation of the Production Management and Services unit, led by Claudia Foghini, SVP of Production Strategy, reporting directly to me. The only constant in our industry is change, so we need to keep improving and adapting our structure to be able to face new challenges and to capitalize on the opportunities and dreams we have set for ourselves. In his first big reorganizational move since taking over as President of Telemundo Network in August of 2014, Luis Silberwasser today announced several changes among the executive ranks.
He takes over the news department leadership role from Alina Falcon, who was named EVP of Network Sports, Research and Integration for Telemundo Network, also reporting to Silberwasser. In his new role, Velez will oversee the network news operations and be responsible for editorial direction, programming and production of all news properties, including nightly newscast “Noticiero Telemundo,” Sunday news program “Enfoque con Jose Diaz-Balart, morning show “Un Nuevo Dia,” and daily news magazine “Al Rojo Vivo,” as well as other related network news programming, breaking news and specials. He’ll also play a key role in strengthening the collaborations with Telemundo’s owned and operated stations. Prior to joining Telemundo, Velez was Anchor and News Director in Caracol Television in Colombia. He was previously an anchor and reporter for CNN International based in New York and an anchor for CNN en Espanol. Falcon will now decide sports programming strategy for Telemundo network, working closely with Eli Velazquez, recently appointed EVP, Sports, Hispanic Enterprises and Content. Claudia Foghini rejoins the network team as SVP of Production Strategy, Management and Services, but will continue her current duties at Telemundo Studios, where she has been since 2013. As part of the changes, Silberwasser is consolidating on-air and off-air creative departments into a single Marketing and Creative group reporting to Aileen Angulo and placing the Specials Group, under Pilar Lamadrid, within the Programming team. I want to share with you some important management and structural changes at the Telemundo Network, all of which are effective today.
As we face an exciting year at the Network, these changes will add depth to our leadership team and better position us to leverage our strengths for success.  The Telemundo Network has a great opportunity to truly materialize the growth potential it represents for our company.

Luis Silberwasser will be taking over the role of President of Telemundo Network, left vacant by Emilio Romano since his departure in October of last year.
In his new role, Silberwasser will oversee the Telemundo broadcast network, including Telemundo Studios. Most recently, Silberwasser was Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer for Discovery Networks International (DNI), based in London. Since he joined Discovery in 1998, he has held other leadership positions in marketing, sales and business development within the company’s international division, including SVP for Strategic Planning at Discovery Networks International, and VP of Affiliate Sales and Marketing for the Latin American division. Discovery Networks International (DNI) has named Luis Silberwasser Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer of its newly created International Production and Development Unit. Luis was promoted in March of this year to yet another newly created position at the time: International Head of Content for DNI. Sent out on Friday morning, weekly newsletter Media Moves Wrap provides a summary of the week's top stories. Starz has upped Michael Thornton in a reorganisation of its distribution activities that also sees Ed Huguez exit. Thornton (above) has been elevated to chief revenue officer, a new role that puts him in charge of network sales and affiliate marketing and international programme sales and digital media.
Huguez is stepping down as president, affiliate distribution at the US premium cable network. REELWORLD VP MIKE THOMAS said, "With over 13 years experience in the industry, CHRIS is bringing a wealth of knowledge and creativity to our shop.
He’ll now also oversee NBCUniverso’s programming and marketing with Bilai Joa Silar, SVP of Programming, and Flavio Alvarez, VP Creative, reporting directly to him.
It’s also a “realignment” because Telemundo has moved morning show “Un Nuevo Dia” from the news to the entertainment department, under Torres Viera’s leadership.
The news content of “Un Nuevo Dia” will continue to be produced and overseen by the network news group, now overseen by the recently hired Luis Fernandez. Bilai Joa Silar, SVP of Programming, and Flavio Alvarez, VP Creative for NBC UNIVERSO, will both report directly to Jesus. This new structure creates a unified content group focused on building audiences, allowing for a broader resource base, cross fertilization of content and creative ideas across the networks, and providing for a more coordinated sports programming strategy, in anticipation of the upcoming FIFA World Cup tournaments. Mari Garcia Marquez will report directly to Jesus and will work closely with the executive producers of our other entertainment shows to create new content ideas, as well as opportunities for cross promotions for our entire line-up.
This team produced record breaking results in 2015, and I am confident that the changes and additions announced today and in the past few days will help us do it again in 2016 and beyond.
Among them, he has named Luis Carlos Velez to Executive Vice President of Network News, reporting directly to him.
In that role he supervised all editorial content for Caracol News across its multimedia platforms.

Alina Falcon is being named Executive Vice President — Network Sports, Research and Integration for Telemundo Network, continuing to report directly to me. In this new role, Alina will be the executive in charge at the network for Sports programming.  She will lead the network’s creative, editorial, and scheduling strategies for our sports properties, and will work closely with Eli Velazquez to ensure that the network reflects the quality standards that NBC Sports and Deportes Telemundo are known for.
He’ll also be responsible for developing and executing the network’s entertainment, sports and news growth strategy with a focus on increased market share and profitability.
He was promoted to that role in 2010, where he was in charge of leading the overall content strategy for DNI’s portfolio of channels in the international markets, as well as overseeing the production and development unit that focuses on creating original global content for the international networks in more than 220 countries worldwide. Hispanic, where he managed programming, production and marketing for the region’s 15 channels. The new unit will focus on developing global content for Discovery’s portfolio of networks in more than 180 countries. He said: “In the rapidly changing media business landscape, it is important for Starz to unite together the revenue businesses of affiliate sales and Starz Distribution under one senior executive. The news content of “Un Nuevo Dia” will continue to be produced and overseen by Luis Fernandez’s network news group. However, it is equally important that we strengthen our capabilities to execute these ideas with excellence. Additionally, Alina will be responsible for leveraging the FIFA World Cup properties across the entire Telemundo Network to maximize their promotion power for the rest of our schedule.  Alina brings to this new role a wealth of expertise and knowledge in sports broadcasting, having had oversight for Sports programming, including the FIFA World Cup tournaments, during her tenure at Univision.
During his tenure, Silberwasser launched and served as General Manager for the company’s two channels geared for the U.S.
TBI is published by Informa Telecoms & Media which is a trading name of Informa UK Limited. Under Claudia’s leadership, the new Production Management and Services unit will actively deploy best practices and training, as well as provide support to the different production teams in order to execute projects under the agreed creative, financial and legal parameters.
Claudia’s production expertise and relationships across TELEMUNDO, NBC and third parties, will serve us well as we improve our ability to produce a myriad of projects in multiple locations, with many internal and external production partners.
Claudia’s current production management team at the Studios will be augmented to support the scripted, non-scripted and entertainment productions at the TELEMUNDO and NBCUNIVERSO networks. In each project, this new unit will work hand-in-hand with representatives from Programming, Finance, Business and Legal Affairs, Production Legal, Human Resources, EHS, and Sourcing to enhance internal communication and find synergies and efficiencies for more productive and successful project management across the board.
