Amazon today announced a number of enhancements to its Amazon Cloud Drive and Cloud Player, including an unlimited music storage option and a Cloud Player for iPad.
For a limited time, Amazon customers who purchase a $20 annual Cloud Drive storage plan will receive unlimited storage space for their MP3 and AAC (.m4a) music files.
In comparison, Google Music Beta offers free storage for up to 20,000 songs, although it is unknown what if any subscription plans Google might offer. While Amazon customers can also upload photos, videos, and documents to Amazon's Cloud, the unlimited storage offer applies only to music files.
In addition, storage of Amazon MP3 purchases will be free in the Cloud Drive, including all purchases made before the launch of Amazon Cloud. Amazon has decided to offer its Cloud Drive storage service to anyone, including users who are not a part of their loyalty program.
Last year, Amazon gave its Prime members a reason to smile when it offered unlimited Cloud Drive photo storage. Amazon on Thursday announced two new unlimited cloud storage plans for Amazon Cloud Drive, enabling users to store an endless amount of photos, videos, movies, music, and files. Amazon has unveiled several new features and changes to its Cloud Drive and Cloud Player storage and music streaming services. All users will also get access to all of their Amazon MP3 Store purchases in Cloud Player and Cloud Drive and those files will be stored for free as well. Finally, Amazon is revealing the iPad version of the Cloud Player, enabling the millions of iPad users out there to access and listen to their songs. The big change, one that is clearly a response to Google and Apple, is the free music storage.
Music Beta by Google can store up to 20,000 tracks for free, at least in the beta period, and Apple's iTunes Match will also store a maximum of 20,000 songs, for $25 a year. Until now, music files, MP3 and AAC are supported by Amazon, were treated just like any other file, eating up space from your Cloud Drive limit. Amazon doesn't reveal any limit on music storage, nothing in the likes of 20,000 files, but this is just a limited time offer. Initially, all new Amazon MP3 Store purchases were added to your Cloud Drive account and were stored for free. With the unlimited plans, customers no longer need to worry about how much storage is needed to keep their content safe and secure-they can choose either the Unlimited Photos Plan or Unlimited Everything Plan and pay one flat fee per year. Customers can start experiencing unlimited cloud storage for free with a 3-month trial on either plan.
Amazon have just socked it to their rivals by announcing that they are going to allow unlimited music storage for users of its Amazon Cloud Player service. The change in terms means that Amazon’s cloud player will now allow unlimited music and MP3 storage, so long as the user has bought one of Amazon’s cloud storage plans at $20 or more. Previously, Amazon Cloud customers automatically started with 5GB of free storage, upgradable to 20GB with the purchase of an Amazon MP3 album. Meanwhile, Apple plans to launch its iTunes Match service in the fall, which will allow customers to "back up" up to 20,000 non-iTunes music files to the cloud for $24.99 a year. As before, Amazon MP3 purchases don't count again customers' Amazon Cloud Drive storage quota. As with Android smartphones, Android tablets, Macs, and PCs before it, the iPad owners will be able to play music files stored on Amazon's Cloud servers as well as those stored on the device. They base this expectation on the 53% growth rate the service has seen between 2013 and 2014, as well as the estimated 12% compound annual growth rate.
The company's clients were recently targets of two different attacks, both coming in the form of emails. Among the updated features, you also have Google Drive access, although no streaming is available, and easy to use touch-screen controls.

Now, if you pay for extra storage, 20 GB for $20 a year is the minimum, you get to store all of your songs for free. Prime members and Fire device owners who already enjoy unlimited photo storage can choose to sign up for the Unlimited Everything Plan to store videos and files in addition to photos.
Additional storage space could then be purchased in plans beginning at $20 per 20GB per year. Amazon said customers who qualified for 20GB of free storage from earlier promotions will receive the unlimited space for music at no additional cost. This plan also includes 5 GB of additional storage for videos or other documents and files. Existing Cloud Drive customers can change their plans now by simply logging into their Cloud Drive accounts.
