Unwanted emails shouldn't get in the way of a clean inbox, but sometimes spam filters go awry and messages you definitely don't want to see start appearing in your inbox. To block emails on the Gmail website, open the email you want to block and click on the down-arrow next to the Reply button on the top-right of the email.
You can mute email threads by tapping the down arrow (three dots button on Android) button on the top-right of the message and then tapping on Mute.
To block a sender from the web version of Outlook, select the message and click on the Actions button on the top-right of the message.
There is currently no way to automatically filter emails from the Windows 10 app, you'll need to use the Web instructions above.
If you have the full desktop version of the Outlook mail client, blocking a sender is easy.
If you don't even want to see this email in your Junk folder, you can create a Rule for the sender. You can't currently set rules in the iOS or Android versions of Outlook, but any rules you set via the web interface or in the Outlook application will be applied. Alternatively, click on the More button at the top of the email and select 'Filter emails like this'. You can't set rules from within the iOS or Android versions of Yahoo Mail, but they will adhere to any rules you've set up via the web version. You may be able to do this depending on the make and age of your phone - different phone manufacturers ship their handsets with slightly different email clients so their functions will vary greatly. Many people now rely purely on webmail for their email, but Windows 10's new email client is so easy to use that it's a viable alternative. You can click ‘Ready to Go’ straight away if you only plan on using your Microsoft account, but you should click ‘Add Account’ if you have any other email accounts you’d like to use. If you try to set up a webmail account such as Gmail, a new window will open and ask you to sign in with your Google account. Accounts and folders are hidden by default, but you can click the menu icon in the top left corner (three horizontal lines) to reveal all your accounts and a selection of pinned folders.
The Settings pane lets you add more accounts, and you can dive into the Options sub-menu to set Out of Office replies, add a signature to your emails and toggle Action Centre notifications.
For example, by default, Mail won’t highlight the next message in your inbox when you delete, move or archive the currently selected email.

For more functional customization, click on Settings > Reading in the right sidebar to manage your day-to-day mail reading experience. You can toggle “Auto-open next item” on or off to indicate what you want to do when you delete a message—move to the next message, or go back to your background picture. If you have more than one account in Mail, then you can tweak certain settings on a per-account basis. Quick Actions: Also known as Swipe Actions, this lets you operate on a message in the list by dragging your finger left or right across it. Signature: This lets you create and add an email signature to all the messages you send from a particular account. Conversation: Grouping messages by conversation is turned on by default, and groups all messages that have the same subject into one thread. Automatic Replies: Available on Outlook and Exchange accounts only, you can turn this on to send automatic replies to people when you know you’re not going to see your emails for a while. Notifications: Windows will let you know when a new message arrives for a particular account.

Automatically download external images and style formats (available in the Reading section): Decide whether you want Mail to automatically download images. You can also pin one account’s inbox or any other mail folder to your Start menu for instant access and efficiency. Lastly, you can go into each account’s individual settings to tweak how it downloads new messages.
Download new content: This menu lets you choose how frequently the Mail app will check for new messages. Always download full message and Internet images: Instead of fetching an entire message, clear the “Always download full message and Internet Images” checkbox.

You can report an individual message as spam, but that doesn't mean that sender will automatically be blocked. In the box that pops up, click on the dropdown list next to 'Then move the message to this folder' and select Trash. Therefore it's better to block emails with your email provider (as described with Gmail and Outlook above). You can then authorise the app to access your account information, and it will take care of all the details for you.
You’ll need to know your email address and password, and depending on the Exchange server settings you may also need to provide a username and domain.
If you’re moving across from Outlook or Microsoft’s webmail services, you might find navigation a bit alien, but essentially everything you need can be found in the menu on the left side of the screen. Settings that apply to all accounts let you tweak the entire aspect of your Mail experience, including personalization and reading options. Here, you can pick from a collection of 10 different hues or use the Windows accent color for seamless integration. For example, Caret Browsing in Mail lets you navigate the reading pane with your keyboard cursor.
Turn on “Show in action center,” and then specify how you want to be notified–with a sound or a banner. If you turn this off, you can choose to download external images in messages as you read them. For example, if you have a folder called Important, you might want them pinned on your Start menu. This will let you view small previews of your incoming messages, so that you can navigate your inbox more efficiently. If you have a phone or tablet, then you might want to limit the number of messages stored in the Mail app. My limited knowledge includes just this: we no longer have an Exchange server we use Office 365.

Bear in mind that these emails will be filed under Spam so you'll still be able to see them if you check your Spam folder regularly.

Like Calendar, Mail should be in the 'Life at a glance' section of the Start Menu by default, but you can find it quickly by pressing the Windows key and typing Mail. Mail makes this easy by prompting you to add new accounts when you first open the application. Mail and iCloud accounts by default, and you can also configure POP and IMAP accounts if you have one, such as the one from your ISP. If you don’t know these, your network administrator or IT department should be able to help you. You can also make these folders appear when the menu is minimised, by clicking the silhouetted folder icon. If you open Options at the bottom left (the cog icon) and click Reading, you can toggle Auto-open next item if you prefer. You can toggle between the light and dark theme and set the background to cover the entire window or just the right pane where you read new messages and compose new mails. However, you can customize what that right swipe and left swipe will do (or turn off swipe action feature entirely). Right-click the folder you to pin, and choose “Pin to Start.” Click that pinned folder and you’ll be taken straight to that folder.
Some account types offer only “Every 15 minutes,” “Every 30 minutes,” and so on, if you’d rather not be inundated with notificatinos. If you have a slow internet connection or want to reduce your data usage, then this option might be useful to you. If you’re facing any sync related issues, click on “Advanced mailbox settings” to configure the Incoming email server, Outgoing email server, Calendar server, and Contacts server. The message will be automatically placed in your Deleted folder without hitting your inbox.
Tick the tickbox that's next to the name of the sender you want to block and then tick the bottom box 'Move the item to folder'. Once you’ve put in the correct details, the account will be activated and Mail will begin synchronising your inbox. The Calendar icon at the bottom-left will open the Calendar application and the Cog icon opens the Settings pane on the right of the screen. If your settings are correct, then you’ll jump directly to that account’s inbox, ready to start processing mail. Alternatively, select 'Delete it', and the email will be moved to your Deleted Items folder and will be permanently deleted after 30 days. In the 'If a message', make sure the top box says 'is from' and then type the address you want to block into the box below. If you’ve set up more than one account, you can switch among them by selecting “Accounts” in the top left corner. All incoming emails from the sender you have chosen will go straight into your Deleted Items folder. For all other email providers, you'll need to set up your rules with them (such as the instructions for Gmail and Outlook above).
