Western Digital, the world leader in storage solutions, has introduced its new My Cloud family of personal cloud solutions. By simply connecting to the My Cloud personal cloud drive to the Internet, users can get access from the public cloud, without having to pay monthly fees or giving up control of their personal data.
The My Cloud personal cloud drive is designed as the rapid content and device growth requires new storage paradigm that give consumers complete control over their digital lives. It supports for connecting, sharing, syncing and backing-up from all the mobile devices and computers in the household with the amount of digital data being created on these devices growing dramatically. The main reasons why cloud storage is ideal for the mobile age (and tech is going to become even more mobile with the rise of wearable IT) are that it enables file access and sharing from almost anywhere, anytime.
But just like any great solution, if it’s successful in practice it’ll generate a raft of new problems in its operation and adapatation, the most salient of which for the cloud industry are centred on security.
To assuage these anxieties people (myself included) are using mixed cloud storage solutions which includes private NAS storage as well as public cloud accounts. The advantage of Network Attached Storage (NAS) is that it’s part of the user’s home network giving him peace of mind about just how secure the data stored on it is. The advent of private NAS platforms for business and personal use combined with a plethora of public cloud platforms mean that compatibility is also becoming problematic for cloud users. CloudDock’s offering is a feature of the second generation cloud companies: Value-Add Services.
Cisco predicts that between 2011 and 2016 global data traffic will increase 18 fold reaching rates of 10.8 exabytes per month.
As a result filing systems will become difficult to navigate without additional sophisticated search functionality. According to Alex Gorbansky writing in Venturebeat this will present cloud entrepreneurs with new opportunities for sharp high usability features that will make their spin-out shine in the market place. Up until recently cloud storage was a handy tool for students and professionals who split working hours between office and home, or for field workers who needed to pull-down data for onsite presentations. Asigra Televaulting provides grid-based performance and capacity scaling for virtually unlimited data growth, allowing the software to support backup loads from a few hundred GB to multiple TBs. The Asigra Enterprise License plan lets you install the entire backup platform within your own WAN, thereby offering you the maximum level of control and security over your backup data. Asigra Televaulting provides secure Continuous Data Protection with “Bare-metal” disaster recovery capability for file and database servers, desktops and laptops. Agentless: with no agents to install on the server being backed up, you don’t have to worry about software conflicts, rebooting the server for agent installation and patches, managing multiple agents, heavy CPU utilization, and a host of other issues associated with agents.

Incremental Backup: Asigra only backs up the individual data blocks that have changed since the last backup was done for both files and databases. Global File Deduplication: By keeping a digital signature of the files that have already been backed up before, Asigra makes sure you don’t waste resources by backing up numerous copies of the same data.
Intelligent Retention: Asigra’s built-in retention features and archiving capabilities allow you to automatically move older and less volatile data to cheaper storage. Hybrid Cloud Computing: Asigra’s unique architecture lets you back up data to your own centralized backup servers in your private cloud, or to a public cloud infrastructure. When you want a single platform to be able to backup a wide variety of hardware, operating systems, and applications. When you want to backup data from multiple remote offices to a single centralized location. When you are backing up virtual machines, and don’t want to install numerous agents in each virtual instance, which could adversely affect performance.
When you have a large number of machines to backup, and don’t want to pay for agents or have the difficulty of deploying a large number of agents. That’s one of the conclusions of a recent survey of 1,300 corporate IT users, which sought to better understand employee habits regarding shadow IT. The survey zeroed in on adoption of Dropbox, the cloud-based storage and file-sharing provider.
It’s no surprise that the survey sponsor, Nasuni, has a self interest in publishing these results, as the vendor is a provider of enterprise storage to large organizations. The Nasuni survey finds that across the board, at least half of the respondents use Dropbox in their organizations.
The report cautions that in many cases, corporate information is stored within personal Dropbox accounts. In fact, the survey also found that half of employees use these cloud file-sharing and storage services — even though they are aware that their employer has a policy against it.
The problem likely won’t go away anytime soon, as it is being fueled by mobile technology. As the number of devices grows, the use of Dropbox and shadow IT will simultaneously increase to meet the demands of new users.
The new My Cloud is a complete solution for the users to organize, centralize and secure the digital content from all their computers, laptops, mobile device and access all the files anywhere from any device around the world. It is the easier, most secure and most affordable way for customers to control all their data easily across the network.
Personal cloud storage will be the new standard that allowing users to keep media and file safe at home on their own physical drive and then access them over the Internet with any PC or Mac computer.

This makes the users to enjoy their digital videos, photos and music on all their devices to be accessed in single location. What they built was a cloud storage service where individual account holders can upload files to their personal storage space, and share the same data with colleagues who are account holders on the same platform. But the flip side of this means the responsibility for securing the data and the redundancy configuration lies with the user. And just like storage on the public cloud the data here can be accessed from any device from just about any location. Last year these guys formed a new Irish start-up called CloudDock, and have identified an opportunity to deal with the aforementioned complexity.
The basic Cloud Storage offering is pretty simple and it can easily be replicated by the competition. But as this sector develops with mobile technology it will attract the smart money that thinks long term. For any recruiter to make the right match, the first challenge is to deeply understand the candidate they represent, the companies they serve and the reality of the role they are filling. You can also take a hybrid approach and back up some data to a private cloud and others to a public cloud. The fact that the CFO is doing his or her own thing with Dropbox doesn’t make it any easier.
Dropbox usage is partcularly strong within universities, service firms, and manufacturers. About 58% of respondents with a personal mobile device say they resort to using their own device to access work files because the company does not provide the tools they require.
Twenty-five percent of survey respondents plan to have an additional smart phone or tablet before the .
Her work has been syndicated across a number of media outlets, including The New York Times, and MSNBC.Kristen Nicole published her first book, The Twitter Survival Guide, and is currently completing her second book on predictive analytics.
I spoke with Scott (Co-Founder & CMO) back in October about the new company, and CloudDock offers an app that provides compatibility and services like file sharing between the different cloud solutions. Dropbox usage is prevalent in the mobile world as well; after e-mail, it is the most common tool used for accessing work files on a mobile device.
Dynamic ESA, Gear Shift Assistant Pro, Tire Pressure Monitor, Cruise Control, and a myriad of other niceties have been fitted to this achingly beautiful machine. 231 1125 Orlando Avenue, Roseville, CA 95661 This 2016 R1200RS is in beautiful condition.
