Though not as fully-featured as, say, Dropbox‘s web interface, iCloud Drive provides basic features to manage that cloud-based storage of yours, browse the file structure, as well as add, remove and download files.
With the iCloud Drive web app, you can browse the file structure of your cloud-based storage. You can open an individual app’s folder (like Keynote, Pages, Numbers, Preview and so forth) to access documents, download or upload files whenever you want and delete individual documents or whole folders on a whim. You automatically get 5GBs of storage for free, but you can choose to increase your storage with a monthly subscription. If you aren't sure where to start, we can walk you through the setup process and how to start using iCloud Drive! Remember: if you turn off iCloud Drive, nothing at all will save to it until you have re-enabled it. If you ever decide you want to hide it again, you can repeat the same process and switch it to Off. Otherwise you can browse your iCloud Drive files, find what you're looking, and get your work done! You can do this at anytime and with any file(s) and from now on anytime you update it all the changes will be saved in that new location. If you find yourself running out of space or just plain in need of less clutter on you iCloud Drive you can easily delete files you don't need anymore. If you store a lot of documents in iCloud Drive, and you're on a limited data plan, you may not want apps moving large files around unless you're on Wi-Fi. Once installed, users have to use their iCloud credentials to sign in, at which point an iCloud Drive folder will appear in their user profile folder and Favorites menu in Windows Explorer (see image at the end of the post). To install iCloud Drive for Windows, simply follow the source link, where more details about iCloud Drive on PC are also available. To try this yourself, you’ll need iOS 9.0 or later on any device, but for the most optimal uses, you’ll want to also have a Mac with iCloud Drive too. If youa€™re a regular user of iCloud Drive, Applea€™s Dropbox-like storage solution for managing file syncing between your Mac and iOS devices, then your life is about to get a teensy bit easier.
But, surprisingly, the iCloud Drive app doesna€™t automatically appeara€”ita€™s instead tucked away within Settings, and you have to tell your iOS device that you want to see it.

I appreciate that Apple hasna€™t added yet another app to its pre-installed, cannot-erase repertoire (Ia€™m looking at you, Stocks and iBooks).
Youa€™ve always had access to your iCloud Drive files on iOS, but they could only be pulled up via compatible apps.
With iOS 9, once youa€™ve enabled the app, youa€™ll find all of your iCloud Drive documents neatly organized within. Editing is a different story: Youa€™ll have to export the file to a different app if youa€™d like to make any changes. You cana€™t edit anything within the iCloud Drive appa€”instead, youa€™ll export that file to a different app with more features. Depending on the file type, some of your formatting preferences, like font, might be different, and the app might create a separate file thata€™s better suited for editing. You might lose some of your formatting when exporting documents from iCloud Drive to a different app, but you can pretty it up again once youa€™re editing the doc in a third-party app.
Though the app might not look like much, organizing your files in a centralized iCloud Drive app makes them much easier to access, and might even make iCloud Drive a handier resource for your workflow. And if the public version is released tom and I have the GM version, will I have to restore my phone to the actual public release? When iOS 7 made its public release, it had a different build number to the GM released only a week earlier and those who installed the GM had to reinstall to the later public build. Subscriptions range from free all the way to $9.99 a month, depending on your storage needs. If you said yes, you don't need to do anything further and can continue to the next section. You're given a chance to show it when you first update, but if you miss it, you can still turn it back on at any time in Settings. Cellular data use with iCloud Drive is nowhere nearly as intensive as streaming music or videos, but if you want to make sure not a bit goes by without your say so, you can manage it all in Settings. One of them is iCloud Drive, which Mac users who also own iOS 8 devices are advised avoid enabling until OS X Yosemite is here. Apple has already released an updated iCloud Drive for Windows, which PC users can already install on their machines.

You can also use iCloud Drive to view pictures and media that are stored in iCloud on any device using the same Apple ID. Nonetheless, iCloud Drive is a really useful feature and for any user who has wished iOS to have a direct user accessible file system of their stuff, this and Photos app is about as close as it gets currently.

It’s primarily beneficial for documents, it has no relation to photos or music, though it would be nice if you could access those from a file system type of level too. This product is bad and it makes no sense, it only stores 1000 photos and the others disappear. Just hold down your finger on the attachment (image of the file for pictures and pdfs, tap to download button for other files). I have created it on Mac, uploaded it to iCloud Drive, can open it, but can not type from iPad. Ita€™s pretty barebones, somewhat mimicking the folder and file experience youa€™d get on your Mac.
Tap the Share button in the top right corner, and then select the app youa€™d like to export the file to. Or if you already are paying for an iCloud subscription, you can change it to best fit your current needs. However, inside that folder you can have multiple folders to separate your files anyway you want.
