By Jayne Groll on November 4, 2015 4 Comments I recently had the privilege of attending the DevOps Enterprise Summit hosted by IT Revolution and Electric Cloud. Since DevOps came on the enterprise radar, there have been numerous articles, webcasts and whitepapers trying to create a bridge between ITIL and DevOps. The modern IT environment expects processes that support transformational initiatives and enable rapid development and deployment. Processes like incident management and problem management are benefitting from the increased use of monitoring and the emerging DevOps practice of ChatOps.
Finally, a practitioner presentation did a fantastic job of demonstrating how they were able to marry their ITIL processes to Agile practices. Coincidentally, we just talked about this on Arrested DevOps with Steven Boyd, a certified ITIL Master. Notice: Submission of this form includes an automatic subscription to the DevOps e-newsletter. It might seem obvious, but the reality is we approach most projects this way, so it’s important we get some definitions straight. Traditionally, before a new project even starts, most of the focus is placed on evaluating the initial investment and sunk costs (such as licensing and project activities) – rather than how it will generate value and return on the investment after launch. If you start to think of adoption as the goal, the upfront goals link to a broader success factor rather than a back-office migration. Executive Sponsorship: It’s crucial company executives and stakeholders accept the new solution.
Planning: Map out the behaviors that need to start and stop in your target users, and the time and effort it will take to execute. Measurable Objectives: Without this, it’s impossible to know whether your deployment or adoption goals are successful. The bottom line is that when planning for O365 Adoption, priority number one should always be setting clear objectives to know if it’s actually happening.
To get more details on how you can start your own adoption planning, keep reading this series all about Office 365. Or watch the our business track seminar on training and adoption a successful Office 365 roll out.
I spend the majority of my time talking to customers about how they can leverage public cloud for their infrastructure and application requirements. KITOS is the platform through which local SMEs in the sector engage with the government and other players in the ecosystem. With a high entrepreneur focus and having been in business for 16yrs, the award winning company has evolved from an infrastructure company to a full end to end business transformation company in the healthcare, homeland security and social services segments. In our Healthcare segment we are simply orchestrating cutting-edge medical infrastructure and health information systems, through creative financial models to enable Africa to deliver predictive, preventive, personalized and innovative healthcare solutions. Some suggest that ITIL has passed its prime a€“ its an out dated framework that was designed for waterfall service lifecycles.
So while a process like Change Management was mentioned in several sessions, there was little focus on a Change Advisory Board or requirements for requesting a change. There is no doubt that service management must evolve into Agile Service Management in order to be of value to continuous delivery pipelines.
Do you now need to throw away the ITIL books, replace your ITSM tools and start rebuilding processes?

To learn more about DevOps enterprise practices, to scale and integrate with the guidance from ITIL, Agile, Lean and other frameworks. IT Infrastructure Library consisting of 5 Books describing IT Services Management best practices.
Since we are detailing a scenario where an active, regularly-used technology –  say, for example, replacing on-prem email with the cloud-based Office 365 solution – an example success metric could include increasing sales productivity or remote worker satisfaction levels. End users will look to them with high expectations, and if the execs are sitting on the fence, it could be disastrous. Competitions between departments, rewards, and even turning it into a game are great tactics. This is the most effective – perhaps only real way – to realize the technology’s business potential. Veronica has worked with over 100 North American organizations designing & implementing change management programs focusing on a range of technologies & user types.
We bring together business process transformation and solution implementation through our value added services that foster customer loyalty, support growth, and enable high performance.

We deliver design, deploy and manage value added solutions using several engagement models. SST is currently working closely with General Electric (GE) to modernize & upgrade radiology departments of 98 Level IV and Level V hospitals across Kenya with state-of-the-art radiology facilities. While the management of Stylus, is committed follow the values in their daily working lives, Stylus expects that each individual that joins the organization will not only understand the importance of the value system but also work towards championing them in their interaction with their colleagues, supplier and clients. Survey results show that not only each value is known to more than ? of Stylus’ staff but a very large percentage of people follow them in their day to day work. Others claim that you cana€™t do DevOps without underpinning control and release processes.
In fact, when one presenter proudly displayed their a€?change recorda€?, it looked nothing like the ITSM database record of yore.
To enable a delivery pipeline that meets changing business requirements and removes constraints across the IT spectrum.
The real, often over-looked value of any major IT project hinges on one key thing: adoption. Once you have their blessing, start showing target users and get them excited for the new tools that even their manager or the CEO are using.
Even little things such as coffee cards, putting up a scoreboard or winning a free lunch with a manager can be powerful adoption tactics.
Enterprises are pursuing the right sets of customers and are using technology to produce value-based service experiences.
We utilize our experience-led best practices, “Innovate and Iterate” based deployment framework and global delivery model to deliver business values to enterprises. SST is also working on transformative oncology and laboratory diagnostic programs that focus on affordable, accessible and quality healthcare delivery.Additionally, SST will deploy and manage fully self-contained, customizable container clinics, which will be positioned as a triage service and primary healthcare provider throughout Kenya. We believe that adherence to the following values is fundamental to the fulfillment of our mission and vision. While there is some truth in all of that, several of the presenters at DOES15 did reference ITSM processes and confirmed that service management is alive and well in DevOps. The modern change record may resemble more of a running date stamped commentary that a collection of fields. The modern service desk may also find that ChatOps creates almost instant escalations at the point of detection instead of the point of customer contact.A A  Thata€™s cool. For Office 365 — a technology suite designed to change the way your workers do their job — adoption is more important than ever for realizing its desired business outcomes.
Next, make sure users know what’s in it for them, not just the business (or for even worse just IT).
Bridging the GapAs a corporate innovative leader, SST is evolving with Kenya’s changing healthcare needs. Frameworks such as ITIL already do a good job of describing the key processes that have to underpin the service lifecyle, including the continuous delivery pipeline. We believe that SMEs can harness ICT and innovative healthcare solutions to address healthcare challenges that drive upward social mobility and economic growth for Kenyan citizens. It implies that it is more important than ever to build change models based on risk and need that encourage more standard changes.
However, the very nature of a static publication library makes it difficult for enterprises to look to the ITIL books to keep current.. Targeted healthcare sector investments will create opportunities for SMEs, and SST is at the forefront of addressing the missing middle challenge to ensure scalable innovation happens at all levels. Similarly, while there is much talk in DevOps about configuration management, it now occurs throughout the entire delivery pipeline and uses automation and mechanisms for managing configurations in real-time instead of through discovery methods. Kabla is targeting mid-career healthcare professionals most familiar with the sector’s challenges and with proven success in health services delivery and a knack for leadership. The individual will have an unfunded pre-idea for which Kabla will provide idea validation, a launch team, co-working space and a monthly stipend as the idea is incubated for monetization. SST Takeoff is geared towards empowering existing startups in the healthcare space who face the challenges of getting good ideas to scale due to limited access to partners, clients, suppliers and financing.
SST will provide access to our diverse network, technological support, concept refinement, strategy formulation, co-working space and funding.
