The Notes app in iOS 9 contains many improvements, like drawing sketches and adding photos, but arguably one of the more useful features is the undersung checklist. Then, tap the gray circle with the plus sign on the right side of the screen just above the keyboard to reveal a toolbar providing quick access to the new Notes features. When you’re finished creating your checklist, tap “Done” in the upper-right corner of the screen.
When you’re finished with your to-do list, you can delete it by tapping the trash icon at the bottom of the screen. Checklists are arguably most useful on your phone, but you can make them on your Mac as well (and sync them between your devices with iCloud).
If you don’t see the “Notes” icon on the main iCloud web page, you need to enable it on your iOS device or Mac. Then, click the “Make a checklist” button on the toolbar to create a new checklist. Type your first checklist item and press “Enter” to add a new one after it. You can also share your notes in many different ways with friends and family using the share sheet in iOS 9.
There is a kind of hilarious typo in this article, where you were obviously making a note to yourself to include a hyperlink, but then forgot to make the hyperlink. Last Post: 09-18-2014, 09:29 PM Can I delete certain apps from iCloud that I'll never use again? Many users would like to set the iCloud data file as their default data file, if only because they want to see their appointments on the To-do Bar.
When the iCloud folder is set as default data file, you can only create Notes (or Journal entries) when you are viewing a (non-IMAP) pst file. To change the default data file to a local pst file, open Control panel and find Mail, open the profile, Account Settings, then select Change Folder at the bottom of the dialog or set the PST file to default on the Data Files tab.
Before creating the note, you need to select a folder in a non-IMAP pst file before trying to create the item. When you try to compose a message while viewing the IMAP folders or send reply to a message received on an IMAP account, you'll receive the following error. Once you have your Gmail set up with the folders you want, you can add the Gmail account to your iPad mail app or you can view Gmail from Safari. For users who really want to see this feature added to the iPad without having to use Gmail or Yahoo Mail, send Apple some feedback here.
Although email can be a good option, many email clients prefer that you don’t attach a folder directly to an email. Taking notes can make the difference between remembering that brilliant idea you came up with in the shower, and letting it go down the drain.
Notes helps take a load off your brain by giving you a convenient way to jot down your most pressing thoughts, and if you own other Apple devices connected to the same iCloud account, they’ll be instantly synced, meaning everywhere you go, so too are your notes. Along the top of the Notes app is a toolbar allowing you to, from left to right: show or hide the folders, browse attachments, delete a note, write a new note, create a checklist, apply a textual style, add a photo or video, add or remove a password lock, and share and search notes. The first line of your note will show as the title, while each successive line will be the note’s content.

You can drag unlocked notes to any other folder you have created, but locked notes can only be dragged to folders associated with your Mac. To lock a note, your first need to select a note you want to lock, then click the lock icon in the toolbar. You’re going to create a password for all your locked notes, so you will need to enter a password, verify it, and then if you want, a hint to help you remember your password. If you lock a note, keep in mind its title can still be seen; only its contents will be protected. Let’s next talk about Notes on the iPhone and iPad, which sports many of the same features, including a cool annotation feature that literally lets you create handwritten notes.
We’ll tap on the Notes folder to se all our notes, synced between our Mac and all our iOS devices via iCloud.
If you tap the camera icon, you can attach a photo or video from your library or you can take a new one. Once locked, you can either enter your password or use your TouchID fingerprint to unlock it.
This will work across both platforms, so if you lock a note on your Mac, you can unlock them on your iPhone and vice-versa.
No doubt, if you often find yourself coming up with great ideas, but often forget them before you can write them down, then the Notes app will be of great value, especially since your notes will be synced across both iOS and OS X platforms. My father-in-law went on a business trip to China recently and since these days everything is made in China, I couldn’t help but ask him to bring me a cutting-edge Android phone from Huawei.
If you decided to switch camps, read on to see just how easy it is to transfer contents over from your iPhone. To avoid this, it’s a good idea to know exactly where you wish to keep all your Android contacts before you actually begin the transfer. I used CopyTrans Contacts as a starting point as it helped me get all iPhone contacts from multiple locations (i.e.
This is how I imported all my iPhone, iCloud and Gmail contacts at once into my new Android phone. Krasimir is an avid marketing aficionado and a tech-support specialist in charge of the English-speaking market.
Here’s how to quickly turn text into a grocery list, to-do list, or wish list in the Notes app on iOS 9, OS X El Capitan, and iCloud. Notes from previous versions of iOS and OS X will not show up until you update those devices.
However, once an interactive Notes checklist is shared, it shows up for the other person as a non-interactive bulleted list. On the iPhone and iPad, the Notes app has been a staple for many users who are now very excited to have those sync directly to a standalone application on their Mac. This is because IMAP accounts need a default data file for sent items (even if you have Outlook configured to move sent items to the IMAP folder).
If you use RSS feeds, you need to select a delivery folder in local pst file when you add the feed to the profile.
Right-click the folder, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. It worked fine and then I lost the iCloud sync button and now I can't seem to create a data file - i.e. To move mail into the new folder, tap the folder icon with the down arrow at the top of the screen while viewing an email message.
Users can add just about any PoP3 and other web based email accounts to Gmail within a few minutes.
You click on a email, then select labels, then create a label (folder) or select one from the list.
They have designed the Gmail interface for the iPad and it’s similar to the iPad mail app.
It also allows other email accounts to be added and email folders can be used with Yahoo Mail on your iPad.

If you don’t have it pinned to your Dock already, then you can open it from the Applications folder or using Spotlight. For example, if you were using the Notes app to create a grocery list, you could remind yourself to buy cat food and make it especially persuasive with an attached picture of your hungry kitty. So if you’re a stickler for organization, you can file all your notes into neat categories. Over time, you may add quite a few attachments to your notes and you may sometimes forget which attachment is associated with a particular note.
Remember, this password will extend to any notes you lock from hereon so it might be a good idea to create a hint, just in case. From then on, each time you want to lock a new or existing unlocked note, you will simply select it, click the lock icon, and enter your lock password. Any device that is logged into your iCloud account will sync your notes, unless you turn Notes syncing off.
From left to right you have buttons to delete, make a checklist, attach a photo or video, annotate a note, and create a new note.
You’ll have a choice of several tools, which will let you actually write notes using pen, pencil or marker, as well as measure, erase, or choose a different color. This gives you double assurance that no matter which device you’re using, your notes will always be in front of you. I saved 200 bucks on the purchase and after a day of play, I managed to bring it to looks with my old iPhone.
The good news is the transfer method remains the same whether it is a Huawei, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7, Nexus 6P, Xperia Z5 or even Microsoft Lumia and BlackBerry Priv. I sourced most of them from my Gmail account but I also had some contacts in iCloud and a small portion saved directly on the phone memory.
I chose to transfer all my contacts to an easily accessible and a reasonably private location – the phone memory. If you upgraded the old computer from an older version, the pst could be in %localappdata%\Microsoft\outlook. All you have to enter is your email address, password, a name and description of the account. The server settings and port is added for you.
Yahoo mail also has a interface designed for the iPad but I prefer Gmail because of how easy it is to set up. If you do not have either of these versions installed, then you won’t be able to lock notes, which is a new key feature.
At the bottom of the app, there’s a button to create a new note, or access the attachments browser, just as we discussed in the first section. One thing I've noticed is that the iCloud configuration screen often an unchecked display Contacts, Calendars and Tasks (with Outlook) even though I've selected and applied.
