Facebook Pinterest YummlyIn 2009, at the very beginning of my first trip around the world, Nathan convinced me to listen to a course (on the iPod) called “Get the Edge” by a guy named Anthony Robbins. I was, to say the least, very hesitant to do it – but since we both knew that we had all the time in the world, I soon ran out of excuses of why I couldn’t do it. That course changed so many of my previous conceptions about how things were supposed to be, and many of the things I learned then became habits that I still practice today, like my “hour of power” every morning. Last week I did the course once again, and found that I took away different things with me this time compared to the last one, and it was interesting to see how and where things had changed from last time. As Tony rapidly spoke, I scribbled down as many noteworthy things as I could in my notebook. Going through my notes over and over again, I realized that while each day of the course is designed to teach you something different, there are three concepts that he repeats over and over throughout the whole tape, as though he’s trying to hammer it into our brains. Always strive for more, always raise your standards, stop making excuses and settling for second best. There is no such thing as a finish-line in life where everything will be perfect forever once you’ve reached it, as soon as you stop growing and becoming better, you’re going downhill again. You can’t control everything that happens to you or what people say to you, but you can control how you feel about it.
And finally, one quote that warmed my heart and gave me momentum to continue pushing for my goals: Life’s delays are not life’s denials. Yeah, Get the Edge and Personal Power are two life-changing programmes, as long as we listen to and adopt the many messages contained within them.
Thanks Jon, yeah I completely agree with you, there were quite a few things I had missed last time, probably because I was at a different stage that time and learned what I needed to learn for the situation I was in back then. Also, as much as I shout, “Be you, be you, be you!” from the rooftops, I still wasn’t fully being me mainly because I was still struggling figuring out who I was. Drink my morning drink of organic green tea (I started using some with different flavors too like ginger), fresh lemon juice, 1-2 tsp of raw apple cider vinegar (I like Bragg’s brand), and cinnamon, while also practicing gratitude. I do my 30 minutes of exercise of a program I offer my clients, and sometimes I add in some yoga.

I’ve been feeling so happy since doing this….and I used to think things like meditating and personal development was stupid…I also thought things like green smoothies were too, but I realize now those were fear based emotions because I thought I could never do it. I think about how the learning is present or could be present in my life.  Capturing these thoughts and feelings in a journal helps me focus and leaves me with a history of my personal growth. I’m in Quito, Ecuador right now and I shot a video in my room to share my daily planning process. As mentioned in the video, there’s 3 important steps to effectively planning your day.
As mentioned in the My Life Plan video blog, I have specific outcomes and goals for each area of my life:  health, fitness, emotional, relationships, financial, business, family, friends, and spiritual. I also find by writing down my goals everyday, it helps me focus more towards what I want and really inspires me. At this point, I brainstorm and capture all of the actions that I want to do for that day that fit under the category of this financial outcome. Another important piece that I’ll mention as well is to schedule your actions or outcomes. I make sure that my plan includes not only work, but also spending time with my friends, family, and myself. I think this article addresses an important yet under-appreciated problem faced by many people.

I had been struggling for a while…I mean – new baby, figuring out life with 2 kids, seeing a friend go through something very tragic, keeping my business going, making time for me, making time for my hubby, and on and on. The good thing about writing it down is you can go back just because or if you find yourself in a not so good mood.
I’m busy, but I MAKE the time for the actions that will make my life better because life is way to short to not be truly happy every single day.
