We’re lactose intolerant but we love ice cream in my house, so we eat a lot of coconut ice cream. Well, if you are lactose intolerant  summer can be devoid of the cold creamy dessert unless you find dairy free alternatives like cashew milk ice cream. When I found out that Silk has added Vanilla and Chocolate Cashew Milk to their lineup, I was inspired to try my hand at making a dairy free ice cream at home.
To continue my series of ice cream cone treats, I thought it would be fun to make some sweet little puppies. To make my puppy ice cream cones, I went the easy route and used some store bought candies that were not dairy free. To make the ice cream you’ll make a basic custard recipe using egg yolks, sugar and cashew milk then freeze it. You can just refrigerate the custard for several hours or overnight, just be sure it’s really cold. While you are waiting, you can get your decorations made. I mentioned before that I used candies that are not dairy free. To make the puppies ears, flatted out chocolate candy rolls or roll out some modeling chocolate. For some added fun, you can use white candy to make the ears and add chocolate candy spots. When the ice cream is firm enough to scoop, fill an ice cream cone with some ice cream, then add a nice rounded scoop on top. After the cones chill out in the freezer for about 10 minutes, you are ready to decorate them one by one. Double Chocolate Cashew Milk Ice Cream Cone Puppies   Save Print Decadently rich and wonderfully creamy cashew milk ice cream is so good, you'll never know it's dairy free. I sure wish he would, but I think he’ll just suggest we spend more time at the dog park. It’s not very often that I make a recipe and wonder how in the world I ever lived without it. Reduce the heat to low and stir in soy sauce - if you are not using a low-sodium version, add a bit less and taste before adding more. Will have to cook this for company tonight, in between episodes of Orange is the New Black. Oh my :) My SO and I have been looking for great recipes we’d both like involving rice and this is an absolute keeper. It is wonderful wrapped like a burrito to take for lunches (simply warm in microwave) and you can add grilled chicken strips for the meat lovers. I have made this for large groups as well and unfortunately there aren’t any leftovers (which is actually a good thing!)  When I am going to make several rice dishes for the week I go ahead and make a giant pot of rice. It began in 1999 when the first Time magazine article about the worldwide phenomena came out. I read the books to my newlywed husband on our honeymoon, I bought the audio books to listen to on car trips, I went to the first movie while on vacation for a friends’ wedding, I listened to Hedwig’s Overture on repeat when I had pregnancy induced insomnia, I stayed up all night reading newly released books while nursing my babies. I read them each of the books, I dressed them as Harry and Hermione for Halloween, I threw them Harry Potter birthday parties, and we visited the touring display of movie props.
At our HP birthday parties, we made Buttebeer with cream soda and butterscotch, whipped cream and caramel.

To make this smoothie, I tried to recreate the flavor of the Butterbeer latte recipe from Practically Functional. The result is a tasty smoothie that has no refined sugar, no artificial coloring, and it’s vegan!
The key to the perfect Butterbeer smoothie is making a vegan caramel sauce with dates and cashews. You can use almond, cashew or coconut milk in this recipe or, if you have no dietary restrictions, plain old cows milk. Healthy Butterbeer Smoothie Recipe   Print Prep time 1 hour Cook time 3 mins Total time 1 hour 3 mins   Make a homemade Harry Potter Butterbeer Smoothie and feel the magic! I hope you enjoy this tasty (and healthy) treat if you’re a Harry Potter lover or just a mom looking to make a few little addicts! I know that not everyone likes the flavor of coconut, though, so last time I felt like making ice cream I decided I’d try my hand at another type of ice cream.
My family LOVES ice cream, and since Jesse can’t eat any sweeteners other than honey, homemade ice cream is our only option.
Please note, I only ever endorse products that are in alignment with Whole Natural Life’s ideals and I believe would be of value to my readers. I’d try Googling how to make ice cream without an ice cream maker and see what comes up. The flavor and texture of those truffles made with cashew milk rivaled those made with heavy whipping cream, but had fewer calories. The milk is so thick and creamy that I just knew it would make a wonderful frozen dessert and I couldn’t resist trying the chocolate milk in my ice cream recipe. If you are on a strictly dairy free diet, you can make modeling chocolate using dairy free chocolate. To test if they are ready, you want to lift the whisk and allow the eggs to fall back into the bowl in a ribbon that very slowly dissolves. If you want to save the calories, you can leave it out, but it really makes this a truly decadent frozen dessert.
First, you can use a thermometer and heat until it reaches 180 – 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
Roll out the chocolate candy rolls and cut out some small round dots using plunger cutters or metal cutters. I am always so happy to hear when someone really appreciates the effort I put into these tutorials. I love working with modeling chocolate and have lots of tips and tricks listed on my Chocolate Making Page. I think it’s fairly apparent that I have a style of cooking and sometimes I just want something that is not my style at all.
My kitchen was an atrocious disaster after a day of cooking, I was starving, had the ingredients I thought I needed and decided… why not?
Bring to a boil, then cover, reduce to a simmer, and cook until the rice has absorbed all of the liquid - about 20-30 minutes.
Add in onions and peppers with a pinch of salt, then stir and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until slightly soft. Add in the cooled jasmine rice, tossing to coat, then let sit for 1-2 minutes to crisp up and get golden.

I heated a bag of mixed vegetables in the pineapple with natural juice separately and poured it over everything at the end!
Chef and I have an absolute favorite Thai restaurant in Natomas (near Sacramento, about an hour away from us) and we ALWAYS get the pineapple fried rice and smother it in their avocado curry. This easy smoothie recipe is a healthy version of  the Butterbeer sold at Hogsmeade in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it contains no sugar and it’s vegan. I want to ride the Hogwarts express, eat at the Leaky Cauldron, shop for wands at Ollivanders, buy pranks at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, and drink Butterbeer in Hogsmeade.
To let you in on the HP fun (without having to travel) I’m sharing this delicious recipe for healthy Butterbeer smoothies (while I’m enjoying the not-so-healthy Hogsmeade version). This easy smoothie recipe tastes like the Butterbeer sold at Hogsmeade in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter but it contains no sugar and it’s vegan. Then I combined the two and poured it into my ice cream maker and let it do it’s job.
Brush the backside of each spot with a very light coating of water, then press onto the white ear.
My ice cream maker is ready for my second batch, so I’m heading back into the kitchen to make some more. Maybe after making such yummy treats for your hubby, he’ll change his mind on that new puppy. The time will differ depending on your rice, so check the directions and adjust any additional liquid accordingly. Add eggs to a separate bowl and set aside, breaking them apart more with a spatula if you want.
I literally try to find excuse to drive an hour out just to justify swinging by to get Thai Spoon’s food.
I personally prefer coconut ice cream, mostly because I really like the health benefits that coconut offers, but I would definitely make this ice cream if I wanted to serve dessert to friends or family who aren’t big fans of coconut. If you like dairy-free ice cream and think you’ll make it regularly, an ice cream maker is 100% a worthwhile investment. If you want to experiment with a different sort of dairy-free ice cream, I’d recommend giving this a try! We got this model for our wedding in 2008, and it probably made a few hundred batches of ice cream before it finally gave out in 2016. Then added all that stuff you see: red pepper, onions, scallions, caramely pineapple, some scrambled egg and cashews. Increase the heat a bit in the skillet, add another tablespoon of coconut oil and add pineapple. Pour into prepared ice cream maker and follow manufacturers instructions to chill ice cream. Stretch the pointed ends and bend slightly.Flatten chocolate fudge rolls cut small dots, Attach with water to white teardrop.
