If you install Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V, the pagefile will be automatically managed, which usually has a 1:1 ratio with physical memory.
If we compare two servers with 16GB of memory each, one installed with Hyper-V R2 and the other installed with Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V we clearly see different numbers. In the figure to the left you will see that Windows has 16GB allocated but recommends 24GB (1:1,5) In the figure to the right you see that Windows Server 2012 is much more intelligent and allocates considerably less memory for paging. Although I haven’t found any best practices yet for the pagefile in Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, this might suggest that you can use the autopilot for virtual memory in the latest server edition of Windows. If you are looking for a very thorough blog on pagefile settings in R2, please visit this blog. Note: If you are unsure of your ability to complete the following tip, please consult a professional.
The C drive hosts our entire operating system, but some other files are also created on the C drive, which eat up additional space.

So, you bought yourself a new 2 TB hard drive thinking, “I’ll never use this much space.” Well, think again. Then, you think, “How am I going to sort through all these files and figure out what is taking up the most space?” Luckily, we’ve gathered information about 10 free tools to help you do just that. NOTE: please be careful when downloading and installing freeware, as the installers often attempt to bundle crapware and adware.
When WinDirStat (Download from Ninite) starts, it reads the whole directory tree once and presents it in three useful views.
The extension list is a legend that displays on the upper right and shows statistics about the different files types. SpaceSniffer is a portable, freeware program that helps you understand the structure of the folders and files on your hard drives. If you’re searching for specific file types, such as all .jpg files, or for files older than a year, or any other condition, use the Filter field to limit the results to only those files. TreeSize Free allows you to start the program normally or from the context menu for a folder or a drive. Disktective is a free, portable utility that reports the real size of your directories and the distribution of the subdirectories and files inside them. Because Disktective doesn’t need to be installed, you can take it with you on a USB flash drive to analyze the flash drive or any Windows computer you come across. DiskSavvy is a fast, easy-to-use disk space analyzer that allows you to analyze disk usage for your hard disks, network share drives, and NAS storage devices.
DiskSavvy is available as a freeware version, a Pro version, and an Ultimate version, each successive version providing additional features. JDiskReport is another free tool that presents an analysis of the selected folder or drive as a pie chart, ring chart, bar chart, or in a detailed table. For each folder in the selected folder or drive, GetFoldersize displays the total size for all the files in that folder or drive and the number of files and subfolders within the folder or drive. GetFoldersize is available in a portable version, so you can carry it around with you on a USB flash drive or other external drive.
RidNacs is a fast disk space analyzer that scans local drives, network drives, or a single directory and shows the results in a tree view with a bar chart displaying percentages.
Scanner uses an extended pie chart with concentric rings to display the usage of the space on your hard drive, external drive, network drive, etc. Scanner comes with two .reg files that allow you to add Scanner to the Windows Explorer context menu and remove it again. Free Disk Analyzer displays a tree of all your drives on the left like Windows Explorer, allowing you to drill down to deeper folders and files. For additional ideas on how to regain hard disk space in Windows 7, see our article about simple tips to reduce disk usage. Before you begin, you need to know that you will get the best performance only if you move the page file to another physical drive, and not to another partition on the same drive. Note that if you have only one SSD and the other drive is a hard disk drive, not an SSD, I am not sure that you should move the pagefile at all because moving the pagefile from SSD to an HDD might reduce performance. In the comments, feel free to share what changes in performance you noticed after moving the page file. This entry was posted in Windows 10 and tagged move page file, ssd disk, Windows 10 page file on December 20, 2015 by Sergey Tkachenko.
You are correct in your assumption in an increase in performances as having 2 Physical HDDs or SSD,s technically doubles your IO throughput as the computer can simultaneously access both drives at the same time. Its been long i am thinking to make Video on this topic " How To Increase RAM (Internal Memory) Of an Android Phone ".

It is fairly consistent with the best practice in R2 to set a fixed maximum for the pagefile between 4 and 6GB.
Of course we need a little bit more experience in the field to really call this a best practice. It sure has pitfalls and annoyances, but once you look at it from a novice point of view, Windows does away with all the geeky stuff that most people won’t want to bother themselves with. The most common of them are evident slowdown as compared to a fresh installation of Windows and the second one is lack of free space.
The pagefile can occupy as much as 2 GB of space at times and it is best to move this file out of the C drive to save valuable space.
Make sure the drive has enough of free space(at least as much as the recommended free space). I’ve been looking for a tip like this for months, and it’s regained me nearly 3 GB on my C drive!
Many of these deals are exclusively for our Daily Deals newsletter subscribers and can't be found with our regular specials. It’s amazing how fast photos, videos, music, and other files start to use up any hard drive space we have. Each colored rectangle represents a file or directory, and the rectangles are nested, representing subdirectories and files within the directories.
The Treemap visualization layout SpaceSniffer uses helps you to immediately visualize where big folders and files are placed on your devices.
To get the option on the context menu, you must download the installable file and install the program. The freeware version allows for a maximum number of files of 500,000 and a maximum storage capacity of 2 TB. Click the Scan a file tree button (magnifying glass) on the toolbar to select a drive or folder and start the scan. You can use GetFoldersize to scan an unlimited number of files and folders on internal and external hard drives, CDs and DVDs, and network share drives. However, if you install GetFoldersize, an option is added to the context menu in Windows Explorer allowing you to start GetFoldersize and scan a folder by right-clicking on it.
It is a portable program and comes with two text files (one of them in English) that describes the usage of the program. The right side of the window displays all the subfolders and files in the currently selected folder or drive, the size and the percentage of disk space each subfolder and file uses. At a glance you get an idea of not only how much data is taken up, but you also can see what file-type you’re drowning in.
Sometimes it’s also a good heads up, like when I wondered why my Documents folder was so huge and then realized it was the 20 GB of oblivion mods I downloaded then forgot about.
Moving the pagefile.sys file from the partition where Windows is installed to another hard drive can improve system performance and decrease page file fragmentation. Uncheck the option Automatically manage paging file size for all drives. This will allow you to configure the page file for every drive individually. To do that, select the desired drive from the list and select the option Custom size:See the Recommended size in the dialog.
The changes you have made require you to restart your computer before they can take effect. I talked about it in this article; but configuring replication that way over non-trusted networks or for hosts that are not in the same Active Directory forest is not suitable for some environments. It has a huge array of software to do various tasks and it forms an excellent computing environment for the home user.
Many of us face the second problem; because our C drive (the drive on which people usually install Windows) runs out of space.
The pagefile is essential for Windows to perform optimally, but once the C drive runs out of space, we are already losing performance. Plus, if you decided you don't like our newsletters (don't worry, you'll love them), unsubscribing is fast and easy.
The tree is like Windows Explorer in that you can expand every subfolder within the selected folder or drive and drill down to the file level. The selected folder or drive is analyzed and a tree view displays on the left side of the window and a pie chart with percentages displays on the right. It has support for long filenames, Unicode filenames, and UNC network path names and allows you to copy, move, and delete files directly within the program. The Folders tree view in the left pane presents a Windows Explorer-like tree allowing you to easily access all the subfolders in the selected folder or drive. It supports long file and folder names and Unicode characters and the ability to display the file size in bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, and gigabytes. Moving your mouse over a segment of the chart displays the full path at the top of the window and the size of the directory and the number of files in the directory below the path. Free Disk Analyzer also displays your disk usage as a pie chart at the bottom of the right side of the window. When my drive was getting full I could quickly see what to delete to get the most space back, and which class’s files were taking up the most space.
You can set the Initial and Maximum sizes to the Recommended size so the pagefile does not grow and shrink constantly. There are companies out there that need strong security when using Hyper-V replication and that’s why you need to look at a HTTPS alternative. Therefore, the obvious solution is to move the pagefile to a physical disk with more space.

The colors of the rectangles for files indicate the file extensions that correspond to the extension list.
Multiple tabs at the top of the right pane provide different ways to view the results of the scan. GetFoldersize allows you to print the folder tree and to save the folder tree and information to a text file.
During installation, you can choose to add an option to the Windows Explorer context menu that allows you to right-click on a folder or drive, open RidNacs, and start a scan on the selected folder or drive immediately.
Tabs at the bottom of the right side of the window allow you to view the contents of the selected folder or drive or view the largest files or largest folders.
If you are not sure which size exactly you should specify, just select the option System managed size and click the Set button to let the operating system determine the correct size.
You can implement this in Hyper-V but the source and replica hosts must have certificates that are mutually trusted. When you scan a folder, it’s added to the list of Favorites under a list of available drives on your computer.
The Zoom option allows you to zoom into the selected directory and is also available by clicking on the segment. In other words, they must both trust the same parent or come from the same certificate authority (CA). There are buttons on the toolbar that allow you to sort by size or name and to show the file size or number of files on the selected tab as appropriate.
You can also Open, Recycle (delete by moving to the Recycle Bin), and Remove and file or directory directly within Scanner.
You can also manage your files directly within the program and view, open, delete, copy, and move files the same as you would in Windows Explorer. If you have Windows Active Directory Certificate Services in your network, you can use it to issue certificates for your Hyper-V hosts, if not you need to look at some free solutions (MakeCert.exe) or buy the certificates from an online Certification Authority.
The CA certificate(s) can be deployed via Group Policy, thus ensuring that any issued certificates from that CA or CAs would be trusted by both the source and the replica hosts. In this article we will look at how to configure Hyper-V HTTPS Replica in a domain environment, in a clustered environment and in a workgroup environment. We are going to use this internal CA to issue the certificates needed for HTTPS replication.
All you have to do is create a GPO and link it to the appropriate OU (where your Hyper-V hosts are located). On how to configure Auto-Enroll using group policy read this article. The next step is to open the Hyper-V Manager and configure the hypervisor as a HTTPS replica server.
Now since we want to secure the replication traffic, we need to enable the Use certificate-based authentication (HTTPS) box. As soon as you click it, another window with the available and compatible certificates is presented. Install a valid certificate and try again. On the Authorization and storage section choose where you want to store the VMs that are replicating to this host and from where it should accept the connections.
If you don’t use Windows Firewall as a security measure you will need to configure this port on the product you are using. When you do this for the first time, you will have to select a certificate during the wizard.
Now, for the cluster, the certificate needs to have the FQDN of the Replica Broker name in the Common Name field or in the Subject Alternative Name field.
This is because the actual Computer certificate template takes the information from AD (the name of the computer), and it will issue the certificate with the Hyper-V host name in the Common Name of the certificate. Log in to your AD CS server, open the Certification Authority management console, right-click Certificate Templates and choose Manage.Find the Computer template, right-click it and choose Duplicate Template. Once the template properties window opens, click the General tab and in the Template display name field type a name for this template. Still here, you can increase the validity period so you don’t have to renew the certificate every year. As you can see, and as I told you, the information in the certificate using the Computer template is build from AD. To change that just click the Supply in the request radio button, and OK on the warning message. Don’t worry about that message because you can secure the template ( Security tab ) so only specific users can use it to request certificates, but I am not going to worry about this right now.
As you can see, you now have a new template in the list, but this new template needs more information before the CA can issue a certificate from it. Click the link bellow the template to open its properties. On the Subject tab, the most important setting to configure is the common name of the certificate. From the Type box choose Common Name and in the Value box type the FQDN of your Replica Broker role. This is so you don’t have to request a certificate with the same name on all your cluster nodes, it  is way easier to just export it once and import it on the rest of the servers.
By now you should have two certificates on this Hyper-V host, one that has the name of the machine in the common name field and the other one with the common name of your Replica Broker role. The next step is to export this certificate with its private key and import it on all the cluster nodes.
The easiest way is to just double-click the certificate and follow the Certificate Import Wizard. Repeat this for all the remaining nodes in the cluster.Right now certificates are in place, every Hyper-V server has a computer certificate and the cluster nodes also have the Replica Broker certificate.
