Here is a quick walk through on how to disable Government Alerts on your iPhone iOS 7 Tap on Settings Tap on Notification Center Scroll to the bottom of the screen and Tap Amber Alerts and Emergency Alerts both to the Off position and there you have it.
Apple has worked with carriers to provide government alerts, including AMBER and other emergency notifications, in the U.S. This will stop any government alert (except a few really urgent ones) from being transmitted through your iPhone. The problem with these government emergency alerts is that there’s no way to control their ring tone or volume.

The Wireless Emergency Alert Program – which went live sometime last year – controls the way these alerts are sent out to the public. We highly recommend not disabling either of these alerts since they can save your life and the lives of those around you if disaster were to strike. Depending on the nature of the alert, which can include child abductions and impending natural disasters, it’s a great feature that can save a life, or many lives, not to mention prevent injury and property damage. This entry was posted in Tips and Tricks and tagged AMBER Alerts in notification, AMBER Alerts on iPhone, what AMBER used for, what is AMBER.

If you are not much of a fan of these emergency alerts, it’s good to know that you can turn them off.
