BRUSSELS, Feb 16, CMC – Caribbean countries are to benefit from a disaster preparedness study launched by the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group that offers a comprehensive view of the various risks faced by member countries, as well as valuable efforts to reduce them. The ACP Compendium of Risk Knowledge, financed by the 10th European Development Fund under the Intra-ACP Cooperation envelope for Disaster Risk Reduction, show that disaster risk in ACP countries is considerably higher than in other regions.
The study found that 12 countries from Sub-Saharan Africa and one from the Caribbean were amongst the 20 most-at-risk from disasters in the world. Head of Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection, Susanne Mallaum, said the study helps in a practical manner to understand the real nature of risks that countries in the ACP regions face. For occupations and situations requiring ample first aid supplies, these emergency medical kits include products for treating various injuries. Antibiotic ointment, sterile wound dressings and adhesive tape — When wounds aren’t adequately tended to, their impact can be devastating—especially when emergency items and clean water are scarce during a natural disaster or emergency. Waterproof flashlight with charged batteries — The rest of your first aid kit will be rendered ineffective without precious light.

While countries in the ACP have had good experience in managing disaster events in the past, it is now time that we start to proactively reduce the underlying drivers of these risks, to stem this growth of human and economic losses. You know what a first aid kit is — and that it might just save your life during a natural disaster or emergency. You likely will need all these things and others to survive a not-so-ordinary, completely unexpected situation or natural disaster. We even sell individually packaged tablets and single-use ointment pouches as so you doni??t have to buy a new one just because Aspirin ran out: First Aid Refills An emergency or natural disaster can happen anytime and anywhere. For this reason, it is very important that you have emergency supplies such as first aid kits in your home, office and vehicle, as well as survival kits that are easily accessible in case of a natural disaster.
Keeping a supply of first aid kits and emergency supplies is vital to insuring the survival of your family in the case of the unexpected. When natural disaster strikes, people are often unsure of how to handle a difficult situation. Having fully stocked disaster kits can help to alleviate further problems that can occur when food and water is not available, as is common in the case of earthquakes and tornados.

Furthermore, when medical attention is not accessible, a life or death situation can be easily brought under control with the use of first aid kits and emergency kits. Being prepared for any situation with emergency supplies means that you are more likely to survive and help others who need attention. The use of survival kits is not limited to natural disasters. If you often go camping or hiking, you should always carry emergency kits to ensure you are prepared for any eventuality that may occur when out in nature.
