The development of this plan will take into consideration aspect such as; Analysis, Infrastructure Security, Vulnerabilities and Threats, Identity Management (IdM), Operating System and Application Security, Cryptography, Physical and Network security, and Disaster and Incident Recovery Plans to customize a strategy that will safeguard the organization from possible incidents an or attacks. A contingency plan is but a component of a disaster awareness process that also includes elements like; business practices, operational continuity and disaster recovery planning that requires the implementation of policies and procedures, and customized planning to properly achieve the readiness necessary for a rapid response, timely recovery of, and continuance of proper operations in case of a successful attack.
Consider testing, training, and proper drills to make sure plan is adequate, make take care of possible flaws and have recovery personnel practice and prepare in case of an actual incident.
A Contingency Plan is part of a security life-cycle and should be continuously revised to make sure that it will meet the needs in critical areas such as business process, current available systems, recovery strategies, maintenance, training and the execution plan. Business Contingency Plan or BCP – Consist of the development, documentation, testing, training, and updates of a contingency plan that will allow for suitable recovery of critical business operations, while minimizing loss, and meeting legal, and required regulations.
Disaster Recovery Plan or DRP emphasizes on the restoration of systems after a disaster has transpired.
Business Continuity Plan or BCP is implemented in conjunction with DRP when the incident escalates to a disaster, great amount of damage is present, a long term recovery is expected, and systems will need added information and information resources restoration.
The individuals selected for these teams are key highly skilled personnel selected because of their knowledge and expertise to help develop a contingency plan and participate in the organizations recovery in the event of a disaster.
The contingency plan team is composed by a group of individuals who are trained and proficient at the assigned task, specialist in their field, or experts for specific plan operations within the organization. The incident recovery team is in charge of developing a set of pre-defined responses that will help guide through the process necessary to respond to an incident to allow rapid response. The DR team is in charge of managing and executing the DRP by identifying, assessing, acting in response to disasters; and restoring primary site operations Functioning as a distributed organized team to simultaneously work in the recovery process of the organization according to the specifications of the DRP. Recovery Management Team – Manages the recovery process entirely with representation fromtheothersub-teamsand is inchargeofthecoordination of the DRP .The recovery manager selects the members of the teamandhasfinalauthoritywhen itcomestodecisionmakingregarding the team. Damage Assessment Team – Led by the Technical Coordinator who is also part of the management recovery team.

Facility Recovery Team – Will be led Facility Coordinator who is also a member of the recovery management team.
Network Recovery Team – led by the Network Coordinator who is also part of the management recovery team.
Platform Recovery Team – Led by the Technical Coordinator who is also part of the management recovery team. Applications Recovery Team – Led by the Applications Coordinator who is also part of the management recovery team. Administrative Support Team – Led by the Administrative Coordinator who is part of the management recovery team. Simply put we can say that BC is geared towards preventing the interruption of mission critical functions, while DR is established to help its recovery once an incident has occurred, and IR determines what constitutes an incident and provides the instructions on how to handle the incident with the least amount of damage, recovery time, and coast to the company.
The following is a possible scenario of a Contingency Plan divided into four major facets; a Contingency Plan (CP), a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), an Incident response Plan (IRP), and a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) which may end up as part of a security management plan.
A contingency plan is but an element of a disaster awareness process that also includes features like; business practices, operational continuity and disaster recovery planning that requires the implementation of policies and procedures, and customized planning to properly achieve the readiness necessary for a rapid response, timely recovery of, and continuance of proper operations in case of a successful attack. A contingency plan is part of a security life-cycle and should be continuously revised to make sure that it will meet the needs in critical areas such as business process, current available systems, recovery strategies, maintenance, training, and the execution plan. A business impact analysis (BIA) will help recognize and list critical systems, business processes, and mechanisms by taking into consideration the impact of events, tolerable downtime length, and recovery requirements.
This plan allows preparing for, detecting, reacting to, and recovering from a possible event allowing for restoration of the operation with minimum cost and disruption after.
An incident escalates into a disaster when the ability to control its impact is lost and the extent of the damage does not allow a quick recovery.
The goal of BCP is to make sure critical business functions are re established in an alternate site and continue working during the disaster allowing the DRP to focuses on the primary site.

Will oversee the conditioning of the recovery site to ensure the proper accommodation of the new equipment and monitor deliveries. This team will oversee the restoration of the organization’s network and network connections according to DRP specifications. This team is in charge of coordinating the restoration of communication among users working different computer platforms.
In charge of the support and acceptance of application systems needed to comply with DRP specification in the recovery of the system. Provide administrative support to recovery team members, taking care of administration details so that the other members can concentrate on specialized and technical aspects of the recovery process.
These members are also required to participate in the process of incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, or crisis management in case of a disaster. Will supervise the process of the reconstruction of the recovery site to make sure it is done according to DRP specifications to be able to restore the site in accordance with the original design. If the attack escalates and IRP procedures are not enough then the focus will change to disaster recovery and BCP. This information will be passed to the management recovery team who will make arranges for the acquisition of the replacement equipment if that is the case.
