The multiple choice part is delivered using a touch screen computer and the hazard perception part records your responses through the use of a computer mouse button. You can also choose to go through a practice session to get used to the layout of the test. A question and several answer options will appear onscreen and you have to select the correct answer to the question by touching the screen. After the multiple choice part you can choose to have a break of up to three minutes before the hazard perception part starts. After the break you’ll then be shown a short tutorial video clip about how the hazard perception part works. The hazard perception part is also delivered on a computer but you respond by clicking a button on the mouse.
To achieve a high score you’ll need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development. If you have had plenty of practice driving on all types of roads and carrying out the different manoeuvres, ideally with a good instructor, then this should work hand in hand to give you the best chance of success on the driving test itself.
Has your Instructor confirmed readiness for test?A They will know best and could carry out a mock test to give you a good idea of how close you are to test standard. Can you to read a number plate from a distance of around 20.5 metres which is tested on the test? Do you have both parts of your licence and your theory certificate safe to bring with you on test? When booking your practical test there is often a waiting time of around 5 weeks for an appointment, therefore, consider if you could answer all of the above by the time the test day arrived.A  Ask your driving instructor if there are any areas included on test which would be good to practice, like any complicated roundabouts or areas where people are often making mistakes. Check approval from your driving instructor and obtain their ADI number to ensure their availability.
Most driving schools would pick you up an hour before your test is due to start, this will allow you to have a warm up drive and possibly go over some manoeuvres.
The green counterpart will be required along with the photo card, if your current address isn't on your licence then simply write your current address on the bottom of the green counterpart ready for test. Is the car your using (ideally your instructors) in good order, insured and tax disk valid (the examiner will check) as well as nice and clean including the windows? You should drive into the test centre around 5 minutes before your test time, however due to not being able to enter the test centre much earlier, it would be recommended that you are close to the test centre in good time ready to enter on time. Your examiner will explain how the test will last around 40 a€“ 45 minutes and you will be required to follow the road ahead at all times unless directed otherwise or following road signs. Tagged Tagged makes it easy to meet and socialize with new people through games, shared interests, friend suggestions, browsing profiles, and much more. But it only lasted 72 hours, leaving people going on one or two week breaks this summer struggling if they wanted to hire a vehicle more than three days after the start of their holiday.Today the DVLA announced it was changing the rules. Holidaymakers who want to hire a car abroad will now have three weeks between obtaining the code and visiting a hire firmRAC head of external affairs Pete Williams said: 'This is a dramatic U-turn from the DVLA which feels very much like a victory for common sense. Following customer feedback, DVLA has extended the validity period of the check code from 72 hours to 21 days.
Car hire companies or employers will still need the last eight digits of your driver’s licence number to redeem the code. If you’re planning on hiring a vehicle this summer you’ll have to visit the DVLA’s website to get a ‘check code’ as, from this Monday (June 8), the counterpart driving licence – the paper part that shows details of restrictions and penalties – will no longer be valid.
Although the switch to digital should make the process of car-hiring smoother (it’s one less thing you’ll need to scramble about to find before you travel), the change may leave some unwitting drivers without the documents they need.

You can then share your licence information with the car hire firm by providing them with the unique licence check code and the last eight characters of your driving licence number. If you forget the code, or forget to get one, you might be able to generate one using your smartphone or a computer once at the car hire centre – but you’ll just need an internet connection and your driver and National Insurance numbers to hand. Alternatively, the car hire company could call the car hire line on 09061 393837 – but you’ll first have to phone DVLA Customer Enquiries Group on 0300 790 6801 and give them permission to discuss your record. You might not be required to show any of this – and only asked for your photocard licence (a quick straw poll of the MS offices showed most of us had never had to show our paper counterpart licences when hiring a car anywhere outside the UK) but the process is free – and worth doing. And if you still have your paper counterpart, it might be worth taking it along anyway – after all there’s nothing to lose, even if you end up losing it.
May I ask what about us old folks who have the old time paper licences only – I presume we still need to follow the same advice?
I hired a car in Cyprus after the change to the counterpart and was not asked for any of the carefully created codes and prints I had with me. The codes only last for 21 days, so if you get a code now it will have expired by time you go to Scotland.
This is a very stupid idea.my car hire firm asked me for my ni number and I stupidly gave it to him on the phone. Ni numbers are like a jackpot to identity thieves, which complete incompetent snake thought of this amazing idea? I have never encountered such utter BILGE in tying to get into this tripe regarding codes , not that the previous counterpart was used, except in very exceptional circumstances , as stated earlier , bt some other person , IF THE AUTHORITIES CAN MAKE SOMETHING DIFFICULT , THEY WILL TRY EVEN HARDER !! Now we are leaving the EU can we not have a proper UK license with all the details on it to save us all this bother to hire a car and if any one has points on their license why should that stop you hiring a car if you are that bad a driver surely your license would have been taken away.
My garage tells me they get people in with an mot about to run out according to the mot certificate yet DVLA on te computer say it still has months to run. It will allow someone to see what vehicles you can drive, any penalty points or disqualifications, your name and the last eight characters of your driving licence number. Why is the change being introduced? It is all part of the Government's drive to reduce unnecessary red tape. Last year the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) had to replace around 445,000 counterparts because drivers had lost them, for which they were charged A?20 each to cover the cost. Why are motoring groups so anxious about the change? They think car hire companies, particularly those abroad, who want to check a driver's record will be unaware of the change. A total of 8.7 million have an old-style paper licence issued before 1998, which remain valid. It's on a pension slip or a payslip, it's pretty easy to get hold of." On its website, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) tells motorists to "destroy" the papers from June 8, as they are no longer needed.
