This year, the Venza has a few new features and options, but nothing that is that visible to the untrained eye. More importantly, the Venza gets additional standard features such as blind spot mirrors for the  LE trim level, driver memory functions for the XLE and LED running lights for the Limited and an innovative touch screen for all new Venzas. The 2013 Toyota Venza comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver knee airbag.
Don’t look at the 2013 Venza if you are looking for a top notch, sporty performance vehicle.
Buy it for comfort, space, reliability and on-road performance – and you will not be disappointed with your choice. Your local Orange County, California Toyota dealer can show you the ins and outs of the Venza and steer you in the right direction with this – or another Toyota model, so that you can make the right decision for you particular needs.
As the next in line after the Camry for a complete overhaul, be prepared for some surprises when you check out the 2013 Toyota Avalon. It is actually a Toyota – and you can buy it for $35,000, one of the best deals in its class. Starting with the basics, the Avalon is available in four trim levels ( XLE, XLE Premium, XLE Touring and Limited) to fit a variety of different driving needs. Take into consideration the standard and optional features available on the Avalon and you will find it tough to duplicate. The Touring adds even niftier features such as navigation and Toyota’s Entune smartphone app integration system. Toyota’s 2013 re-design of the Avalon positions it as the new American sedan, designed in the good old U.S. This year, though, the Avalon is actually no longer full sized; it has shrunk to a mid-size, miraculously without losing any of that full size appeal. The 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid seats five and is offered in XLE Premium, XLE Touring and Limited trim levels. With a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor with battery pack the combination delivers a total of 200 horsepower.
If you take the combined features of the new 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid it will be pretty hard to beat for those customers looking for hybrid fuel economy, smart, comfortable interior and an impressive new exterior design. For 2013, the Toyota Camry receives a rear cross-traffic alert as part of the optional blind spot monitoring system and a 6-inch central display screen, together with some new optional features. Offered in four different trim levels  L, LE, SE and XLE, the 2013 Toyota Camry features Bluetooth in all. The Camry LE adds remote keyless entry, audio controls on the steering wheel and an outside temperature display amongst other upgraded features. The SE includes a sport-tuned suspension, fog lamps, heated exterior mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sport seats and unique styling treatments.
Moving on up – to the luxurious XLE there are a host of upgrades such as the Entune system, softer suspension, sunroof, dual zone automatic climate control, eight way power driver seat and more. Forget about those ugly-looking, slowpoke hybrids that were the first ones to came out on the market. Powered by a combination of a 2.5-liter, 4 cylinder engine and an electric motor, the Camry has a combined 200 horsepower. As a top safety pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid received best possible frontal and side offset, rear crash protection and roof strength protection test results.
Inside the Camry Hybrid you will find high quality materials with stylish stitching on the seats and a leather covered layered looking dashboard. With strong hybrid performance, large cabin and seamless transition between power sources, the the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid is technically the most advanced hybrid on the road. If you live in Orange County, Southern California, come on over and take one out for a test drive at Toyota Place.
Boiling down the ingredients, you can see why this car has been a market leader for so many years. The 2013 Toyota Corolla is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-4 cylinder engine, 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. Standard safety features are typical for a vehicle in its class, include stability and traction control, antilock brakes (front disc, rear drum), front side airbags and side curtain airbags. There is a brand new Trail Teams Special Edition version of this hardy SUV which improves its already stellar off-road handling capabilities – and makes you feel super cool while it is doing so. If all of this floats your boat, technologically speaking, here is even better news.  A propos of boats, your FJ Cruiser can tow up to 4,700 pounds so that means you can pull a pair of Jetskis, a powerboat, dirt bikes or even a race car. Standard safety features on the 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. Based on a design from the 1960s, the Cruiser incorporates the Army truck look with contemporary styling. If there are any design disadvantages, they are in the vehicle’s smaller windows and thick roof panels which impair visibility in some driving situations. The FJ Cruiser’s 4.0-liter V6 engine is powerful and responsive, producing 260 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. You can climb aboard the 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser at Toyota Place, Orange County, California’s top Toyota dealer. This is a vehicle whose primary job in life is user-friendly family and cargo transportation. The 2013 Toyota Highlander offers some new standard features this year -and the news for the hundreds of thousands of fans of this hardy, mid sized crossover is that there is a new trim Level, called the Plus. It does not offer the most interior space when you compare it to other competitors in its class, but it more than makes up for that with its ease of driving and comfort.
The 2013 Toyota Highlander is available in two engine “flavors” – either four cylinder or V6, depending upon the level of engine punch you want.
Straight-forward, unfussy, clean are the adjectives you will use to describe the interior of the 2013 Toyota Highlander.
To make life easier, the Highlander Plus also adds fog lights, roof rails, a windshield wiper de-icer, a lift-up rear window, a rearview camera, driver seat power lumbar support, extendable visors with vanity mirrors, one-touch fold-flat second-row seats and a cargo area privacy cover.
The Limited has a keyless ignition and door entry system and it also has a back- up camera so that parking is easier.
A far cry from former, under-powered (and ugly) hybrids that were in the market in earlier years, the handsome Toyota Highlander Hybrid’s 3.5 liter V6 standard gasoline engine works in tandem with no fewer than three electric motors which combine to create surprising thrust and power.
If you need to squeeze in up to seven passengers, the 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid can accomodate you; it is certainly nicer looking than a minivan, so if it has to be a choice between the two because of your passenger transportation need- guess which one most people will choose?
On top of all of these great points, you get standard all-wheel drive, so if you have to drive in inclement weather you will be able to handle it with ease. The 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid comes with antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver-side knee airbag and active front head restraints. Passengers can snuggle into the second row seats, which recline, to choose their most comfortable travel position.
Well, the only thing that will pause you for a second ( and ONLY a second) is the sticker price. Lexus Safety Connect system, with automatic collision notification, on-demand roadside assistance, an emergency assistance button, plus a stolen vehicle locator. Adding up the pluses and minuses of owning this car will have you wondering who buys a Land Cruiser and how do they use it;  it is not your everyday commuter car.
In the plus column – it is reliable, it has great standard features, a luxury interior, a powerful V8 engine, strong towing capability, ample seating for eight passengers and amazing performance off-road.
This go everywhere, do anything SUV comes with a hefty price tag, but you will understand once you test drive one. These vehicles combine the functionality of a minivan with the rugged good looks of an SUV.
Two very large knobs protrude from either side of the dashboard’s center stack, above the ones that operate the climate-control system. On the Limited-trim model provided to AutoGuide for testing they’re home to some warning indicators and the hazard-light button. In keeping with its Scottish theme the Highlander’s seat-belt warning chime plays bagpipe music and drivers can opt for tartan fabric instead of leather.
Like the Honda Ridgeline we tested a couple weeks ago, the Highlander is equipped with an antiquated five-speed automatic transmission. Of course the tradeoff for a supple ride is usually sloppy handling, and the Highlander does pitch and roll a bit while braking or taking sharp turns but it’s not that big of a deal.
With a V6 engine and all-wheel drive on board the Highlander Limited should be able to get 17 miles of urban driving out of a gallon of regular-grade gasoline. If affordable efficiency is a priority then the four-cylinder model is right up your alley.
In Limited trim our test model stickered for an expensive but much more reasonable $41,855. Sure, it may not be the most fun vehicle in its class to drive, that title probably goes to the 365-horsepower Ford Explorer Sport.
Apart from a slightly dated interior, the Enclave shows why it continues to be the vehicle that saved Buick, with plenty of luxury, size and style. Compared side by side, the two are quite similar on paper, but when driven, the two feel entirely different.
Surprisingly similar in some aspects, yet still completely different in others, these two hatches take different approaches to a common goal. Despite how similar the Kia and Nissan may appear on paper, they are very different in execution. Watch our Short List video to learn about the top 10 most unreliable cars on sale right now, according to our friends at Consumer Reports. This flagship sedan signals a bold, new direction for Toyota as the Japanese juggernaut is starting to deliver more passionate vehicles. The Avalon Hybrid has a refreshingly in-your-face appearance, something that’s been totally lacking in other Toyotas. Aside from its overall appearance, another area the 2013 Avalon Hybrid excels in is paint quality. At highway speeds things are relatively calm, although the Avalon seems a little louder inside than some of its competitors. Toyota’s latest Avalon shares the same basic architecture as the outgoing model, which is a fine starting point for a large sedan. Impacts served up by Michigan’s third-world roads are met with some starchiness in the suspenders, an unexpected upgrade. Like the standard Avalon, hybrid models come with a long list of standard safety features and can be ordered with all kinds of high-tech goodies. Along with its six-cylinder sibling, the 2013 Avalon Hybrid marks a new direction for Toyota.
With the Avalon’s look becoming as dated as its customer base, Toyota relaunches a bold new full-size sedan in the hopes of attracting Gen-X.
Marketed as a brand that’s now interesting, the updated MKS now has much to offer though is perhaps still more of a curiosity. A full-size sedan with a 4-cylinder engine, has Ford gone too far in the name of fuel economy?
On sale in America for a decade-and-a-half, Hyundai’s forgotten full-size sedan is now hard to ignore.
This new model gives Buick a serious competitor to entry-level luxury sedans from Acura, Lexus and Volvo. It is a cross between a wagon, a hatchback and a smaller SUV, kind of like a vehicle for those consumers who really don’t know what they want, or can’t make up their minds. There are a few subtle changes to the front of the car, plus new taillight design and new wheels.
Toyota’s advanced new Entune suite of smartphone-based services has been added to the list of available features, which can turn your ordinary family car into a super cool, web-connected, infotainment center.
If you were under the impression that it was somewhat boring and bland before (a car that your old uncle Wilbur would choose), get ready for a brand new look, luxury cabin, roomy seating, large trunk and loads of interior storage solutions.
That is an astonishing $2000 LESS than the 2012 model, proving that a new car model is not always going to be more expensive than in the previous year.
The 3.5-liter V6 engine is featured in all trim levels and is a carryover from the previous model, but fuel economy is improved thanks to an improved six-speed automatic transmission and the loss of 111 lbs. The XLE comes standard with pretty normal features including dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leather upholstery, a power driver and passenger. The Tech package for the Limited includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights and a pre-collision system. Its suspension is also noticeably stiffer this model year – which gets even further away from the old style squishy suspension of the traditional full size American sedan uncle Wilbur would like.
Toyota has put itself full square back in the lead in the large sedan market segment again, after faltering for a few years. I recently saw one on a TV commercial and was blown away by how gorgeous (and different!) it looks this year.
No bench seating and spongy suspension here; this is not your grandfather’s Crown Vic any more. Orange County, Southern California residents can stop by their local Toyota Place dealership for a full rundown of the standard and optional features in each suffice to say, you will marvel at some of the new features you can get in this car.

The Avalon Hybrid is sure to attract new younger customers who want the new hybrid technology wrapped up in good old fashioned luxury.  There are very few car manufacturers who offer anything like the Avalon Hybrid in their line-up so Toyota pretty much has the market to itself at this point in time. It will interesting to see which other car manufacturers follow suit -and if they can pull it off the way Toyota has with this vehicle. Same old, same old in the case of a Camry has much more meaning and importance than other car models.
It has a more upright front end, a different roof line, better interior materials, a new cockpit control design that frees up more interior room, upgraded door panel trim and other improvements to the look of the cabin.
You should check with your local Toyota dealership to see what other options are offered in your area. The Camry’s V6 engine is strong and capable; the four cylinder model is no slouch either and as both are lighter than previous models, fuel economy is good too.
It has strong, fuel-efficient engines, comfortable and spacious seating front and back, better-than-average outward visibility plus many luxury features and options. No other mid sized sedan offers the Camry’s reliability and re-sale value over the years, so you will never be stuck with a car you can’t unload.
In fact, according to Toyota, 90% of all Camrys sold in the past 10 years are STILL on the roads. You can choose between Attitude Black Metallic, Super White, Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Grey Metallic, Cosmic Grey Mica, Barceloan Red Metallic, Champagne Mica, Cypress Pearl, Clearwater Blue Metallic.Personally I think the greys, champagnes and silvers suit this car best. The Camry Hybrid comes with a full complement of airbags, also antilock brakes, stability and traction control. There are soft textures on the door and center console armrests as well as on kneepads either side of the console. It has great acceleration, precise steering and is quick enough to turn heads if it has to. It is a perennial choice in the efficient compact car segment; it is the car others are compared to, the one to beat.
Take a roomy, small anonymous-looking sedan, stir in a few features and engineer it to keep the price and running costs as low as possible.
Though it may no longer be the no-brainer choice in the super economy segment, what it offers is still very attractive. The Corolla LE and S models get improved audio systems, cruise control, steering-wheel audio controls, variable intermittent wipers, and heated mirrors.
In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash testing, the Corolla earned a top rating in the frontal-offset, side and roof strength tests, proving that even a super-economy vehicle is safe if it has the Toyota name on it. The FJ Cruiser is an eye-catching “look at me” type vehicle that combines a good on-road driving experience with off-road superiority. You may look good in your Cruiser but seeing other people can be a bit of a problem. The rear hinged half-doors are also a hassle to get in and out of.
For most consumers, the four cylinder will be ample for everyday needs, particularly if you are frugal.
SE and Limited Edition models offer varying degrees of luxury and technology, again depending upon your preference, but if you are looking to save a few bucks, the base model is amply equipped. You will not find leather in the base model, but you will find average- to-good quality materials and easy to use controls. By the way, the Highlander’s middle seat in the second row can be removed to gain access the back, which is a feature that not many mid-sized crossovers have. Your local Toyota dealership, Toyota Place has a Highlander with your name written all over it. Take the highly popular full sized SUV, the Toyota Highlander, and combine it with a fuel efficient hybrid engine – and you have a very appealing, hard-to-beat vehicle that is going to win over many thousands of new buyers at the dealerships. The gasoline engine and electric motors can work alone or together depending what driving conditions you encounter on the road. The Highlander’s third row is not really big enough for adults but it is fine if you are not looking to do a long trip anywhere. Frankly, with a navigation system plus Entune, Toyota’s new display audio infotainment system both standard this year you really will not need to add much to trick out your vehicle. When tested, the Highlander Hybrid came to a complete stop from 60 miles per hour in only 120 feet.
You can actually remove the center part of the seat if you want more room to stretch your elbows. But if you stop by Toyota Place, Orange County, California’s top local dealership, they can help you add up the pluses and minuses and make your decision. It is a true luxury vehicle, yet it can also get muddy with the best of them and still be in its element. The Highlander Limited provided for AutoGuide testing was powered by the optional 270 hp V6 engine. Base price is just about $30,000 including destination and delivery charges, though range-topping hybrid can eclipse 47 grand! They’re easy to see and even easier to grab onto, the only problem is they’re not what you think they are.
Reaching for the nearest one and twisting it with the expectation of adjusting the audio volume results in frustration because it doesn’t turn. It’s seriously cheap looking, bringing to mind a half-price Salvation Army sweater, all fuzzy and pilling. It’s powered by a terrific 3.5-liter V6 engine that whips up a creamy 270 horsepower with a healthy serving of torque, 248 lb-ft to be precise. It works just fine, but six gears are pretty much the standard these days; even more are preferable.
You won’t confuse it with a BMW M3 but it’s appreciably better than the artificial, robotic helm of the Honda. It feels like the springs are made from down comforters and the shocks are filled with marshmallow fluff. The only option it was equipped with was a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, which cost $1,760. It can give any competitor a run for its money thanks to a unique combination of Toyota quality, interior comfort and butter-smooth ride. It’s also missing at least one gear in its transmission, but betting dollars to doughnuts, the Highlander is a solid crossover that offers buyers a broad spread of trim levels and powertrain options. The front end looks like something out of a playstation game that hasn’t had its graphics completely rendered. Entrant waives the right to assert as a cost of winning a prize any and all costs of verification and redemption or travel to redeem said prize and any liability which might arise from redeeming or seeking to redeem said prize.
Its Prius line is a household name, with buyers across the country fighting to purchase them like the last batch of Twinkies.
The Avalon Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that’s supplemented by an electric motor. Toyota is targeting younger customers with the 2013 Avalon by cranking up the style and making it more fun to drive. Toyota will offer a fleet-focused model to help fill the vacuum left by the discontinued Lincoln Town Car and they’re gunning to sell between 500 and 1,000 livery models in the first year. Materials are soft, the fit and finish is good and the standard leather-clad seats are cross-country comfortable. A Toyota spokesman said they didn’t want to make the interior too quiet or people wouldn’t be able to have a conversation. But the fob is strictly municipal in its appearance with about as much flair as a voting booth.
This consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant that delivers 156 horsepower and an equal serving of torque. Vehicles like the Hyundai Azera, Chrysler 300 and Buick LaCrosse are all capable challengers. The Venza is a five passenger family car and it does a lot of what many SUVs do, but don’t expect it to be an off-road juggernaut as well. But if you have a small family or if you are an empty nester or perhaps an older driver with more limited passenger hauling requirements, this car may be an excellent choice for you.
You are definitely going to to be impressed if you are in the market for a premium level sedan.
Its roof pillars sweep deeper down towards the trunk and the rear end is tighter and more structured this year. But add a touch-screen control display, Bluetooth and ipod interface and you have standard features that add up to better than average. The dash is divided into different zones for instrument panel, center console and front passenger area and is co-ordinated with attractive chrome touches.
It has been re-engineered for a new generation of younger drivers who want full size luxury, yet need a conscience-appeasing hybrid wrapped up in nice-looking package. Orange County, California residents have a dealer in their neighborhood called Toyota Place. Choose the 268-horsepower,  3.5-liter V-6 gives for a punchier ride, if you have to, but the 4 cylinder will not disappoint, provided you are not expecting sports car performance. The 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid is an awesome choice if you are looking for an economic family sedan, thanks to its outstanding fuel economy, comfort, speedy acceleration and spacious interior.
That is an amazing number. The Camry is the best selling car in America of any type for the past eleven years.
The Camry’s 2012 makeover gave it a much sleeker, more stylish look, most visible in terms of the interior quality.
The gas engine usually kicks in for highway driving and the electric one for low speed, stop and go traffic or perhaps city driving. With a precisely tuned suspension, the Camry Hybrid can stick to the road, undisturbed by rough driving conditions or bumps in the road. The Corolla can still be seen by the thousands – no, make that hundreds of thousands, popping along America’s roads after many years of reliable service, now probably in their second or third owner’s hands. This year’s model has a new grille and some changes to its audio system, so it is not straying much yet from the original recipe.
And there are many first-time, budget conscious car buyers still fitting that particular bill. There are basic features in all three – and you can opt for things like a navigation system if you want to pay extra.
The S model gets stitched seat accents on sport seats, fog lamps, alloy wheels, a spoiler, and a sport gauge cluster. With over 10 seconds needed to accelerate from 0- 60 miles per hour, you will not be looking to buy a Corolla for its speed. Inside expect to find the comfort and convenience famous in Toyota vehicles with features such as  power windows and door locks, adjustable, water-resistant seats, tilt steering wheel, cup and bottle holders , rear-window defogger, rear-door-mounted full-size spare tire, front- and rear-tow hooks, and mudguards. It is engineered for SERIOUS off-road handling, so inner city driving only may not be the best use of its capabilities on a day to day basis, although it drives less like a truck than you might imagine.
It carries up to seven  passengers and has plenty of room for the family’s monthly bulk shopping trip; it is the archetypical do-it-all family vehicle, the car that invented the whole category, in fact. Its fuel economy at 20 miles per gallon in the city, and 25 miles per gallon on the highway is better than its V6 counterpart, which comes in at 17 or 18 city and 22 highway, depending on the model. This is the Base Model V6, a good choice if you opt for extra power but don’t need some of the bells and whistles. As it is relatively small, it is easy to maneuver around the school parking lot or crowded city street. That is outstanding considering that it has weighty batteries to carry, which make it heavier than most gas powered vehicles. Fold  the third row seats flat and you have 42 cubic feet of cargo room to store your shopping.
With good quality materials and outstanding finish and fit, the Land Cruiser will win you over with its sheer luxury. Then there is a so-called Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System which adjusts the stabilizer bars for improved on-road handling and off-road capability; a Multi-Terrain Select adjusts the stability and traction control depending upon the road surface conditions, a five-speed crawl control, Hill-Start Assist, which prevents rolling back on hills and Off-Road Turn Assist which applies brakes to the wheels on the inside in a corner to improve turning response. You are sitting up high and you are in a Land Cruiser, after all.  With its V8 monster engine, the car can accelerate with surprising speed, perhaps faster than it ought to for a vehicle of this type. If you happen to live in Orange County, California, the experts at Toyota Place can show you its very impressive ropes.
Nothing screams “obligations” and “responsibility” louder or clearer than these family wagons. Altogether it looks sleek unlike, say, the GMC Acadia, which is overly aggressive in appearance like a possessed bulldog.
Additionally, the controls and interface elements are about as logical as they come, with one exception: the radio. On a long trip your elbow may object to that rigid material, which probably rates at about 9.8 on the Mohs hardness scale, one step below diamonds. World-class assembly quality gives the impression that Toyota really cares about details, something its competition could learn a thing or two from.
It’s curious why some Japanese automakers are behind the curve, especially Toyota, since a six-shooter is standard on Highlanders powered by four-cylinder engines.
It’s a perfect combination for Michigan’s decrepit roads, which are more pockmarked than the surface of the moon, or Berlin side streets circa April ‘45. That works out to an average of 19 MPG, which is precisely what the trip computer reported after a week of testing.

The Hybrid version is the economy champion of the Highlander lineup, returning 28 MPG on both city and highway test cycles. It’s competitively priced and probably as reliable as a blacksmith’s anvil, and that’s enough to make it a perfect minivan alternative. Sponsor is not responsible for fraudulent calls or emails made to entrants not by the Sponsor. His idea survived the arduous product-development gauntlet making it from pen and paper to steel and stampings. The character line running along the body-side is an interesting flourish and one that was particularly challenging to produce.
The dashboard is a jamboree of swoopy shapes, hand stitches and cutting-edge electronics, features that would have been almost unthinkable in previous Toyotas.
Toyota is quick to point out the chairs are more aggressively bolstered than the ones in today’s car, something that ties in with its sportier dynamics.
This bright work jazzes things up but it could pose a problem for drivers sensitive to glare, especially if they live in sunny areas.
Sure, it gets the job done with all the functionality you’d expect, but a car this stylish, with this level of detail, deserves an equally upscale key. Helping it run as efficiently as possible, the engine utilizes something called the Atkinson cycle. On paper that doesn’t seem like enough oomph for a car weighing nearly 3,600 pounds, but thanks to a quick-witted continuously variable transmission (CVT) it moves quite well.
Other options include a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, high-intensity discharge “Quadrabeam” headlamps and a power sunshade.
Luckily for Toyota the Avalon is every bit their equal and thanks to a high-MPG hybrid offering, probably more. They are Attitude Black, Cypress Pearl, and Cosmic Gray Mica—as well as one new color option inside. It has around 70 cubic feet of space to transport packages, shopping and family stuff galore, when the back seats are folded down. It is perfectly competent enough to suit most undemanding drivers from a performance standpoint. It will give you 21 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway, not bad for a big sedan. Controls are well designed, easy to use and there are plenty of useful storage compartments for passenger essentials.
For over $2000 LESS than it cost last year, you get a luxurious interior and great gas mileage housed in a beautiful new design.
Sensible styling, sensible seating, sensible safety features – the Camry will not win any futuristic beauty competitions but it will give you better than average transportation at an affordable price.
What other car can offer you this standard of luxury, peppy performance AND budget consciousness? In all fairness, not many vehicles have gone through this test, so we will see how other cars measure up in the future. What more can be said about this superstar among cars except that it is even better now that you can get it in a hybrid version.
And reaching 0-60 miles per hour in only 7.4 seconds it leaves the competition (and its sister car, the regular 4 cylinder Camry!) behind. There is plenty of comfortable space for passengers and the trunk space does not suffer too much from having to house a battery. Having sold 33 million of these babies over the years, Toyota is not about to change the formula that quickly. College students, entry level buyers of all kinds are waiting in line for this type of car. You can add an upgraded Convenience Package, plus go all out on better speakers and a multi-information display if you need to. The V6 engine gives you plenty of heft, and its suspension and steering put competitors to shame. It’s not over burdened with unnecessary foolishness (like being stylish or chic), but is as practical and functional as it can be, given its reasonable, family affordable sticker price.
It is roomy and reliable – two of the three R’s still needed to make it in the school of family transportation these days.
Good gas mileage and impressive features add to the successful Highlander recipe that Toyota has nurtured and improved over the years. You won’t have a problem unloading this car, either, when the time comes to buy the new model as It also boasts one of the highest re-sale values in its category. The power is sent to the front wheels only via the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and a separate electric motor drives the rear wheels when you need more thrust or traction. There is a wide center console and big screen for the navigation system which add to its advanced technology “look.” You feel you are in a vehicle that knows what it is doing.
For one thing, this full sized SUV is expensive (around $80,000!)  and by the way, does a normal family of eight really need all that over-the-top off- roading capability?
There is little road noise and as you enjoy the first class amenities this car offers, you may be forgiven for thinking you own the road.
This is something that has not gone unnoticed by today’s drivers, who steer clear of vans the way anorexic supermodels avoid Chinese buffets. We were pretty hard on the car, taking full advantage of its smooth-running, 270-pony corral; it’s probable normal drivers would do even better. There’s an amped-up Highlander crossover as well as an electrified version of the ever-popular Camry. He describes his initial illustration as “loose and fun;” it was something he quickly created at the end of a long day. To be fair this may not be an issue; AutoGuide tested the Avalon Hybrid in Michigan on a depressingly overcast day.
It’s a slightly modified four-stroke combustion process that delays the closure of the intake valves during the compression stroke, a strategy that improves efficiency. Cruise control and a backup camera are standard fare, as are “IntelliTouch” capacitive controls for the climate and audio systems. A full battery contains enough juice to move the vehicle about one mile at speeds up to 20 miles an hour.
In hybrid form it’s pleasant to drive for a large sedan and its powertrain delivers fuel economy that’s nothing short of impressive. It is a comfortable, two- row seater family vehicle, which is well equipped, powered by an efficient V6 engine and set up with innovative storage bins compartments, so useful for everyday family transportation needs.
Its interior design is functional and sleek: take a look at the center console, which allows more space in the cabin between the seats. It also opens up this car as a contender for a whole new generation of buyers who want a well priced, premium sedan. The new interior is tasteful, with upper level quality materials and luxury touches, making it closer to a Lexus than ever before. The electric motor comes to life when the gas is off at stoplights in order to save fuel and provide up to about 20 miles per hour of propulsion. But beware competitors like Chevrolet, Ford and even upstart Hyundai trying to beat this faithful little car at its own game. The look is “road warrior” all the way with large, visible controls, knobs that are easy to grip with gloves and an easy to reach dash panel.
The Highlander strikes a pleasing balance between the austere and miserly and the over-the-top and unnecessary. It seats eight passengers, but the third row, which you access by pressing a control on the second row seating,  is really only big enough for children. Naturally motorists still need cargo space and seating capacity, but they crave a more stylish package. You can bet it’s more useful than a home podiatrist kit, though a lot more expensive than three easy payments of $19.99. In an effort to leave no sliver of the market uncovered, the company is launching yet another hybrid with the 2013 Avalon.
The fact that his sketch got chosen out of hundreds of other drawings is a monumental achievement for a designer in his mid 20s. According to Jeremovic, Toyota had to develop new metal-bending techniques to manufacture it. If you’re interested in the car and can’t stand blinding reflections make sure you test drive it when the sun is out. Eco mode emphasizes frugal driving by reducing throttle response and backing off the climate-control system. If the gas is over $4.00 per gallon in your area (as it certainly is in mine) you will want to factor this in your decision-making process. This smaller, leaner Avalon will take you from  0-to-60 mph in an impressive 6.7 seconds, proving that lighter equals faster.
Stitching on the front seats and door panels, dashboard and center console pull everything together in an elegant, attractive look.. Equipped with a 17-gallon fuel tank, the Avalon Hybrid has a range of more than six hundred miles between fill-ups. Try to tell the differences between the drive in a regular Camry and the Hybrid and you will be hard pressed to come up with any. Wind and road noise will not bother you, even when you are driving fast on the highway, so that is a plus. Its seating, however, is comfortable for both passengers and driver alike – even in terms of head and legroom. Black bumpers, black front grille and door handles, together with fabric seat inserts accentuate the tough guy look. It can seat up to seven and has comfortable front seats, good middle seats but slightly cramped rear seating.
Middle-row occupants can a much better ride as they enjoy more space, an rear-seat entertainment system and heated, reclinable seats.
This desire gave rise to the sport utility vehicle, out of which grew the modern crossover. Those giant “knobs” are most likely used to operate the navigation system on Highlanders so equipped. Base MSRP is just about $41,000 and if you opt for the top-of-the-line version it eclipses 47 big ones! The Sponsor shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity and failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification from the Sweepstakes. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. The fact that the company went with such a decisive look for the car is no less significant.
Sport mode, as its name suggests, heightens the vehicle’s reflexes by improving accelerator tip-in and tightening the steering feel. In fact, Toyota hopes to double its sales of the Avalon next year with this exciting new make-over.
With a beautiful new center console now, instead of fake aluminium, it is good to look at, not just functional.
Transitions between gas and electric power are seamless, so you don’t feel the switch-over. There is 12.3 cubic feet of trunk space, which is comparable to the competition, but the wide trunk opening is another nice plus.
Bring your checkbook to the dealer along with your first- and possibly second-born children.
There are upscale touches too, like stitching around the seats, dashboard and steering wheel to give it the look of a Lexus.
You can add to the already attractive list of standard features by adding Toyota’s so-called Entune info-tainment system, which can help you stay in touch with the outside world as you cruise along happily in the roomy, quiet cabin with your family safely stowed the back. The Land Cruiser’s maximum cargo space is only 82 cubic feet and if you look at its shape you will see why. Any expenses and receipt and use of the prize and federal, state and local taxes and fees applicable in connection with the prize awarded are the sole responsibility of the winner.
An IRS Form 1099 will be issued in the name of the winner for the actual value of the prize received. The third row of seating does not fold down so you cannot fit in as much stuff as you might like. The back seat is spacious, with enough head and legroom to carry passengers as if they are business-class VIPs. Sponsor or its affiliates may rescind any promotion found to contain such errors without liability at its or their sole discretion.
