In case you weren’t aware, yesterday was World Emoji Day – yes this is very much a thing. Love them or hate them, you can’t deny the impact that those tiny images have had on the way we communicate with one another. According to the study, 52 per cent of emoji-using singles went on dates last year, compared to the 27 per cent of singles who never use them. The study revealed that 51 per cent of singles said they used emojis to give their texts more personality – duh. The survey also found that 54 per cent of emoji-using singles had sex in the last year, compared to the 31 per cent of singles that never use them. While we can’t guarantee that emojis will change your love life overnight, we can say that a little emoji play never killed nobody.
Match’s annual Singles in America study, surveyed over 5,000 Americans and asked them about their emoji use, and the results are quite surprising. So don’t be afraid to throw in an emoji or two next time your texting with your Tinder match. The most popular flirting emojis were the winky face (obvi), the blushing smiley, and the kissy face. So if you’re looking to score you might want to consider throwing in a few eggplant and peach emojis into your conversation  – enough said. For instance, the girl with the hair flip screams sass, while the monkey with his hands over his face shows embarrassment. Obvi – all you need to do is send an eggplant emoji for people to know what’s on your mind.
So if you’re looking for a way to boost your connection, you might want to consider adding in one of these emojis ever so often. And if you needed more proof on the power of the emoji just consider the fact that Oxford Dictionary declared the emoji face with laughing tears the word of the year for 2015.
