A lot of GTA V and GTA Online players will be seasoned veterans of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, but if you’re just starting fresh on next-gen (Xbox One and PS4) or PC release then you may be a total GTA Online noob in need of some advice.
Now, finally, the best-selling game of all time is available for PC users too, after months and months of delays and broken promises.
Being a fledgling criminal in a world teeming with seasoned gangsters might seem a bit intimidating, but fortunately there are a few things you can do to make the learning curve a bit easier. Despite the mad online arena nature of GTA Online you’re not actually doomed into an eternal loop of mutually assured destruction. Firstly, you’re able to go into the multiplayer component without any other players, simply by opting for “Invite Only” from the Online menu; the only downside here is that you earn rep and money faster when co-operating with other players, so being on your lonesome may slow down your progression (as well as potentially being rather dull).
That said, this is also the mode to pick if you want to take the sensible route and just play with a select group of trusted friends who you can invite to your session. An alternative is that you can join a public session and jump into the in-game menu to activate Passive Mode – however, you can only select this mode following your first death (which will include a sequence where you meet “God”), it costs $100 in-game to activate and it lasts 15 minutes. Another thing to bear in mind is that when you have cash you need to deposit it in your bank account – you can either do this at ATM machines or via your phone (get on the internet, hit the ‘money’ tab, then select Maze Bank).
However, something very important to remember is that even if you bank money it will still be utilised automatically for certain services – and one of these services is being revived at a hospital every time you die; so essentially, even if your killer doesn’t steal your money from your corpse, the surgeon who revived you will take a chunk anyway.
Another thing to note is you can lock your car to only be accessible by yourself or friends, or you can set it to "anyone" if you feel like getting carjacked. The minimap is your friend for a number of reasons, but the main one initially is that it shows you where other players are, which means if you keep an eye on it you can avoid getting jumped unexpectedly.
Of course, not all players are going to be out to kill you, and the minimap can therefore be useful for locating other players to hang out with, or if you’re looking to do a group activity such as robbing a store or undertaking a mission – more on this later. Also remember to watch out for griefers at key areas, such as outside hospitals, player houses, weapon stores, and other places people will typically visit regularly; these are all hotspots for griefers to rack up loads of kills. When you start off in GTA Online the first car you steal will become your permanent ride, at least until you’ve got a bit more cash to throw at buying and storing cars, so it pays to choose wisely. Initially though, you won’t be able to find anything too fancy but there will be a selection of reasonable sedans, saloons, and the odd muscle car – it's a good move to do a bit of online research to figure out what you might like and then look around in-game until you find it. If you want more cars though, you’re going to need a garage, so start saving for one of those! Another good idea is to sign up to Rockstar’s Social Club, for one thing this lets you socialise with other players inside and outside the game, store and share pictures snapped on your phone, and keep track of your achievements. You’ll also get messages from Simeon requesting specific cars; if you can deliver these produce quite a bit of cash, often around $8000-$9500.
Plan, Prepare, Execute – Online Heists span numerous missions featuring new gameplay, vehicles, weapons, and scenarios to test a team’s full set of skills: from computer hacking to stealth infiltration, precision driving to aerial dogfighting, sniping, skydiving and much more. 4-Player Teams, 4 Ways to Play – Choose your roles and strategize to complete each stage of a Heist, with tight communication and coordination the key to success.

Additional New Adversary Modes – Brings new kinds of competition to GTA Online while new Daily Objectives and other Freemode activities bring chaos to the streets of Los Santos and Blaine County. Assemble Your Team – Create a Crew or join existing Crews at the Rockstar Games Social Club to earn additional RP rewards as you play.
Carjacking and store robberies are a good way to get some initial cash flow, but if you really want big bucks and better rep and experience earnings then you're going to have to do some missions. Later, rather than sooner, you’re going to have enough cash to buy a bigger place to live and store your vehicles.
The ability to own multiple properties was added in The High Life DLC (which is included in the next-gen release from the off). There's a range to choose from in the game, including smaller and larger apartments with attached garages (up to a maximum 10 car garage) and these also provide a spawn point for you and a number of features, such as a wardrobe where you can change your clothes.
Another property type is a dedicated garage, and these range in size up to 10 car capacity. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is OFFICIAL: 6GB of RAM + 128GB Storage Model Confirmed As Chinese Exclusive!
At long last, PC pre-orders became available last night via digital distribution channels at 12am UK time. We will start though by saying that bad things are an inevitability; at some point you WILL get shot for no good reason, someone WILL steal or blow up your car, and you WILL get your hard-earned cash stolen by some douchebag.
With Passive Mode activated you’re immune to damage from other players if they’re shooting you or attempting to hurt you with fists, knives and the like – you also can’t damage them back, of course.
If you die while carrying cash a proportion of it will be dropped and anyone can walk over to pick it up.
In other words you do want to avoid death when starting out because it’ll stop you getting rich.
Players appear as white dots, so keep an eye out for ones heading in your direction, particularly if they’re coming in fast. On a similar tack always be wary of suspicious looking vehicles – if it seems too good to be true that someone just left an Adder (Bugatti Veyron) just sitting around unlocked then it’s probably got C4 strapped to it or something. Once you've got a car you like drive it to Los Santos Customs and fit it with a tracker for $2,000. But the other important thing is you’ll get access to a free Elegy RH8 car from Legendary Motorsports (check the in-game website from your phone or a computer). All you need is a gun, but a mask and body armour are also a good idea to stop you dying so easily and to keep the store owner and police from recognising you.
The long expected update has taken its time to arrive, but now GTA V users can enter into Heist games online. Some missions will require the team to work as a single unit, while others will break the team into separate roles to complete key objectives.

Not that this should be a chore, really, as there are lots of cool little scenarios such as stealing a Breaking Bad style RV meth lab from a bunch of rednecks and hightailing it across the desert.
This allows you to own a maximum of two properties of any type, but this has since been expanded to three properties as of the Christmas 2014 update. Essentially that means the maximum number of cars you can own has gone up from 10 to 30 - you could own an apartment with a 10 car garage plus a dedicated 10 car garage, or two apartments with 10 car garages, or any other combination you like. We’ll be sure to update this article with more tips and tricks in the future, so do check back! Naturally, many people (including myself) have been champing at the bit to plunge into the virtual world of Los Santos. These are things you just need to accept, but with a bit of knowledge and effort you can keep this stuff to a minimum.
But be warned as you can still take damage when in a vehicle or be hurt by getting run over while on foot.
If you steal a car (other than the first one you get as your personal ride) you can sell it at the car customisation shops.
If you’re evading the law following a job, removing your mask loses you one star immediately. Replay each Heist to experience a different perspective on the action, and complete Elite Challenges for extra cash. The better condition it’s in when it arrives the more money you get, but different cars have different values. Masks can be bought from the vendor in Vespucci Beach, while body armour can be found in most gun stores.
You gradually unlock more weapons as you level up and they'll eventually all be available in every store.
Typically you can get between $3000-$8000 per car, but you can only sell one car per in-game day (every 45 minutes). You can carry everything so there's no need to be too choosy other than preserving your cash, but it's smart to invest in a decent pistol, something rapid firing like an Uzi, and a sniper rifle for taking out guards from a distance on missions. Surprisingly you get better returns on things like SUVs, and keeping up a regular turnover will generate a surprising amount of cash during a play session.
All you need to do is ram through any opposition, grab the package without even getting out of the car, and get away.
You can also grab useful explosives such as grenades, molotov cocktails and remote C4 charges, all of which can come in handy for certain situations.
