Last week I shared how I give my students a solid foundational knowledge of character traits through my reader's workshop. After we created our character trait anchor chart, the students in my room were constantly going up to it to find that "just right" description of their characters.
In reader's workshop, students rely on clues that an author has written to make inferences about a character’s personality or motivation. Reader's theater is a great way for students to connect a character’s voice and actions to their character traits or emotions. To help my students acclimate to incorporating character traits into their writing, we do a series of what I call "short writes." With writer's notebooks in hand, students meet me on the carpet and gather around our chart paper. As you can see in the picture, we fill the chart out together until students have come up with a sentence that incorporates everything we charted.
The next step is for students to write a complete narrative that includes at least one character they have fully developed. After my students begin using this planner, the depth of their characters changes dramatically, and their writing overall improves. I know there are many, many effective ways to teach students about character traits. I hope you find a couple of my ideas useful, but I would love to hear how you teach traits in your classroom. Rugby league side, Warrington Wolves, has unveiled its new look, designed by local agency, Fogg Associates. Chris Fogg, founder of Fogg Associates said that they’d spent the last 3 months working on the design, with extensive fan research to explore perceptions and opinions of both the brand and the club’s operations. Being a skillfull player and a prolific scorer, Neymar has helped Brazil and his previous club Santos to achieve success In the past four years. Here's the list of the top 5 leading assists providers of all times in the Premier League.
SK Adda is where we publish the best and funniest comments about the topic of the day posted on Facebook. FC Pune could be major contenders for this year's ISL after travelling to Spain for training camp. The 21-year-old is reunited with David Moyes - the manager who gave him his competitive debut.

As the new season begins, we rank the EPL teams in order of their expected finish this season. FA have announced that Pogba is banned for the Manchester United season opener because of the two yellow cards he got in last season's Coppa Italia. And #Pogbanned gets trending! Three more players are suspended for their respective teams' openers in the Premier League this season.
Children are taught how they can draw conclusions from what a character says or does to get to know the character better, thereby improving their comprehension. As a bonus, it also helps improve student fluency, and this activity in particular reinforces the Common Core reading standards for point of view and narrator’s perspective.
I find fairy tales work very well for this because of the familiarity that students have with the stories and characters. Even though I don’t require it, students love to draw their own head and body before they start to craft their sentences. My 3rd graders feel great success in taking a mundane sentence, the one they most frequently write, and changing it into a sentence that fully describes their character. While the Wolf is still an incredibly important aspect of our brand fans have reminded us that both the town, Warrington and the name, The Wire, play a crucial part in our club’s success.
A country flooded with superstars and talents, Neymar has established his name effectively. Once students have a good familiarity with character traits in reading, we begin to incorporate them into our writing.
That paper is one of the most-used reference sheets in their binder for both reading and writing! When I turn it around, however, and ask my students to leave clues in their writing to help their readers get to know their characters better, that’s not quite so easy, and they need a little help and support.
If you are wondering about the difference between the two organizers, they were made to appease my students. In my classroom, it's always at this point, when students can add some personality to their characters, that their writing really begins to take off.
At first I only created the boy, but my girls spoke up, wanting a different one for girl characters, so I put together the second one and everyone was happy!

It's been so many years and we've had so much success and there have been so many changes," said Akers, who retired in 2000.
The 2015 World Cup champions recently filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claiming wage discrimination by the federation. The filing points out the disparity in the pay structure for the men's and women's teams. They are awarded bonuses only if they win those games, with the potential to earn $99,000, the complaint said.Conversely, the men are paid a minimum of $5,000 for each match. Not only did they win the World Cup in 2015, but the victory drew record television ratings (25.4 million viewers). It's much different and nuanced than years ago."Also, the players are currently in a contract dispute with USSF. The federation filed a lawsuit against the women's union seeking to clarify the length of the collective bargaining agreement, which it says is effective until December. The players' union maintains it expired in February and retains its right to strike. That leaves the team in uncertain territory heading into this summer's Rio Olympics, where the Americans will try to win their fourth straight gold medal. The federation had offered a bonus only for the gold, the women wanted incremental pay for medals.
The dispute was quickly settled. It was especially emotional for Akers, who was among those working hard to bring women's soccer to the Olympics. The Americans won gold in the sport's debut at the 1996 Atlanta Games."When we played, we played because we loved it and because we wanted to kick ass and be the best in the world," Akers said. And we played to inspire people."Following the team's dramatic victory on penalty kicks in the 1999 World Cup final against China, the players boycotted a tournament in Australia. Soccer also points out that revenue figures from the past year do not show the whole picture because they don't include a men's World Cup year.
They're not just doing this for soccer — national governing bodies need to look at how they're treating women."___AP Sports Writer Melissa Murphy in New York contributed to this story.
