The first thing that springs to my mind is that you might be using the wrong cable between the handset and the layout panel.
Your set should have a "flat" cable that looks a little like a telephone cable and a "curly" cable. The flat cable from the powercab goes into the left hand socket, as long as the track indication LED is below the sockets of the interface.
If it worked to begin with, then you added something and it stopped, then remove the last thing you added and test. As mentioned, double check you have the correct cable in use and that it is plugged into the correct socket on the UTP.
Oh and by the way, I have a 6 year boy who knows the use of every button on the throttle and is able control any train on the layout. Aaron I'm not having a go at you so please don't take it personal, I like you don't find it funny anymore when newbie questions arise and the answer is usually the use of the wrong cable. Okay, slightly poor choice of words illustrating the duplicity of use in the English language, and missing context in a text based forum. I was intending to imply that I no longer found it odd or strange or otherwise abnormal or suspicious that newbie users of this system always manage to bind themselves in knots.
So many people either use the wrong cable, or plug it into the wrong side or install the whatever you call that panel thing in upside down and hence end up using the wrong side socket, or end up with a cab address conflict.
I am not having a go at anyone either, especially not the OP, who clearly, is just one of a massive group who have trouble with the manual.
