Wanted something a little better than Bachmann as I recently bought a Bachmann N Scale starter set, so I figured MTH makes bigger scale, heavier stuff so they should make a decent locomotive. As usual, very fast service from MTS, and I like the quality of the MTH products, but was surprised to find that the F3 locomotive was not as fast as a recently purchased(from MTS), Bachmann HO scale locomotive. Although I think the MTH has more torque from what I have seen on Youtube videos comparing the two companies, detail on the locomotive is excellent, and the unit feels well built.
Its 16-cylinder, 4300 horsepower motor was designed to meet the Environmental Protection Agency's Tier-2 emissions requirements that took effect in 2005, and this engine delivers 10 percent more horsepower with 50 percent less emissions than its predecessor.

In addition to the diesel motor, virtually every element of the SD70ACe has been re-thought to create a 21st century locomotive.
