Atlas is offering ready-to-run N scale models of the Alco C-420 in six body styles with and without factory-installed Digital Command Control (DCC). The C-420 was produced during the height of the diesel battle between Alco, Electro-Motive Division, and General Electric. Atlas offers its N scale C-420 in phase 1, 2a, and 2b variants, all with high or low short hoods as appropriate; our sample is based on a phase 1 prototype.

In 2012, TTM commissioned this delightful "O" scale model of the Longhorn & Western depot, formerly the Southern Pacific depot located in Converse, Texas, on the outskirts of San Antonio.
When you come out and visit the museum, you and every member of your family, young and old, will enjoy the sights and sounds of these trains.
Following the success of its National Railway Equipment (NRE) GenSet I, Atlas has added the NRE GenSet II to its HO scale Trainman Plus line. At first glance, the Atlas Trainman Plus GenSet II may look a lot like the firm’s GenSet I we reviewed in the March 2011 Model Railroader, but there are substantial differences.
The models, part of the firm’s Master Line, feature a mix of molded and separately applied plastic parts, directional lighting, and prototype-specific details. This is a review of the Kato EMD (Electro Motive Division) SD40-2 BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Diesel Locomotive in the HO scale which is modelled to the 1:87th gauge. We need styles that are quick and easy to maintain without having to wake up at the break of dawn every morning to get it right.Read More LifestyleHoliday AccommodationDifferent types of accommodation to consider this festive period. The ready-to-run locomotive features a newly tooled shell, thinner-profile handrails, and cab roof details.
The locomotive, like the 3GS21B from 2006, was designed with the environment and fuel savings in mind. This is my first US Locomotive I own from Kato and it is very nicely detailed and it looks superb when the extra parts are added as well.

As for lights, I am waiting untill the background buildings are done so I can wire this side of the layout as one light block. National Railway Equipment’s website notes the GenSet design has reduced emissions, noise, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs compared to traditional locomotives. The model will need horns when I can get hold of some as I didn’t find any inside the packet, but once I find out where I can source Kato spares for these models. The chassis, trucks, fuel tank, and battery boxes appear to be the same as those used on the GenSet I.
1293 features a vertical nose-mounted headlight (the area on the cab where the headlight could go is plated over), ditch lights on top of the anticlimber on both ends, and blanked out horizontal windows on the back of the cab.
In addition, the battery boxes (between the front truck and fuel tank on the model) are recessed too far. Trains on the Cote d’Azur line between Cannes, Nice and Monaco, including night trains, older local rakes and TGV.
