Controversial Study Created Airborne Virus Similar To 1918 Pandemic Influenza Virus Branded as “crazy” by experts, an international team of scientists has generated an influenza virus with similar characteristics to the 1918 pandemic influenza virus that killed an estimated 50 million people. This controversial new study, which has split the scientific community, aimed at investigating the possibility of a pandemic influenza virus emerging from the pool of influenza viruses currently circulating in wild birds. The study has been published in Cell Host & Microbe.

In an affidavit included as part of a new trial motion filed last month, Rosemond recounted his involvement in a series of nine pre-trial “proffer” sessions in late-2011. The meetings were attended by Rosemond, his lawyers, federal prosecutors, and Drug Enforcement Administration and Internal Revenue Service agents. The purpose of the meetings was to allow federal investigators to question Rosemond, 48, about his criminal activities and evaluate whether he should be offered a cooperation agreement in advance of his narcotics trafficking trial. Facing overwhelming evidence of his guilt, Rosemond’s best chance of avoiding life in prison was to strike a deal with Department of Justice lawyers. However, investigators eventually declined to cut a deal with Rosemond, who was subsequently convicted at trial of running a drug ring that sold millions of dollars’s worth of cocaine. Rosemond, who is nicknamed “Jimmy Henchman,” faces a mandatory term of life in prison when sentenced October 25 in Brooklyn federal court. In advance of Rosemond’s first proffer session, defense lawyers provided investigators with the names of eight of his cocaine suppliers, according to court filings. During the proffers that followed, Rosemond implicated himself in a pair of homicide plots, described his drug distribution network, and copped to other crimes. Rosemond was also quizzed during an October 4 session about his contacts with several public figures, including Combs, Rev. Al Sharpton, and musician Wyclef Jean. At Rosemond’s trial last year, IRS Agent Marc Van Driessche testified that, during the proffer session, investigators questioned the music industry figure about his business transactions with Sharpton and Jean, and asked whether either celebrity engaged in illegal activity. Rosemond denied any improprieties on the part of Sharpton or Jean. Van Driessche recalled that Rosemond was also asked about Combs since, “We had information through other witnesses that the defendant may have made an admission to Sean Combs.” The nature of this purported admission was not the subject of further testimony. Van Driessche added that Rosemond described having business dealings years earlier with Combs, and that they had a “cordial relationship.” In his September 6 affidavit, Rosemond (seen at left) contended that he reluctantly agreed to the proffer sessions arranged by Gerald Shargel, his former lawyer. Rosemond added that investigators sought to get him to confess to crimes for which he had no involvement. “When the defendant said he didn’t know about a certain event…they accused him of lying,” Rosemond claimed. The confrontational sessions turned “awkward,” Rosemond stated, when an investigator showed him “naked pictures” of different women. The purpose of this purported investigative technique is not revealed in Rosemond’s affidavit. A prosecutor, Rosemond continued, then “asked about entertainers sexual preferences, including, but not only, Sean Combs having sexual relationships with under age boys.” Again, Rosemond provided no context for these alleged queries. During Rosemond’s trial, Shargel complained to Judge John Gleeson that federal prosecutors and agents were only seeking “trophies” when they questioned Rosemond about celebrities during the proffer sessions. And, when Rosemond provided nothing of substance on the high-profile figures, “disappointed” investigators rejected his client’s bid for a cooperation deal. Prosecutors countered Shargel’s claim, declaring that Rosemond was untrustworthy and lied during the debriefing sessions. Some of Rosemond’s admissions during the proffer sessions were used against him during his criminal trial. In the new trial motion, Rosemond’s current attorney argues that Shargel provided “ineffective assistance of counsel” by improperly “opening the door” to the government’s use of the damaging proffer material. Federal investigators are barred from discussing the details of confidential proffer sessions, the notes from which are not public. Shargel, Rosemond’s ex-attorney, declined an interview request about the debriefing sessions.

A newly deciphered Egyptian text, dating back almost 1,200 years, tells part of the crucifixion story of Jesus with apocryphal plot twists, some of which have never been seen before. Written in the Coptic language, the ancient text tells of Pontius Pilate, the judge who authorized Jesus' crucifixion, having dinner with Jesus before his crucifixion and offering to sacrifice his own son in the place of Jesus. It also explains why Judas used a kiss, specifically, to betray Jesus — because Jesus had the ability to change shape, according to the text — and it puts the day of the arrest of Jesus on Tuesday evening rather than Thursday evening, something that contravenes the Easter timeline. The discovery of the text doesn't mean these events happened, but rather that some people living at the time appear to have believed in them, said Roelof van den Broek, of Utrecht University in the Netherlands, who published the translation in the book "Pseudo-Cyril of Jerusalem on the Life and the Passion of Christ"(Brill, 2013).

Pilot en route to JFK airport reports mysterious object Unknown drones in NYC? A mystery in the sky over New York City on Monday got one commercial airline pilot's attention. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a report from the pilot who claimed he saw an unmanned or remote-controlled aircraft while on his final approach to John F. Kennedy International Airport, WCBS in New York reports. The FBI has also stepped in and is seeking public assistance "in identifying, locating unmanned aircraft and operator" from the Monday afternoon incident. In a press release, the FBI states the "Alitalia flight was roughly three miles from runway 31R when the incident occurred at an altitude of approximately 1,750 feet. The unmanned aircraft came within two hundred feet of the Alitalia plane." "The FBI is asking anyone with information about the unmanned aircraft or the operator to contact us," said Special Agent in Charge John Giacalone. "Our paramount concern is the safety of aircraft passengers and crew." Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 212-384-1000. Tipsters may remain anonymous. The pilot, who was at the controls of Alitalia Flight AZA 60, a Boeing 777, spotted what may have been a drone about four to five miles southeast of the airport while on final approach at about 1:15 p.m. The pilot is heard telling air traffic controllers on radio calls recorded by the website LiveATC.net, "We saw a drone, a drone aircraft." 

Two volunteer firefighters charged in Vermont sex slavery case involving boy Two volunteer firefighters are accused of forcing a boy into sexual slavery that lasted for years, according to the Vermont State Police Department. Brett Bartolotta, 42, a former volunteer with the West Haven, Connecticut, fire department, and Frank Meyer, 39, an active volunteer with the same department, have been charged with aggravated sexual assault and what Vermont law categorizes as "slave trafficking -- life of prostitution." The men were charged in Vermont because most of the alleged crimes occurred in Bartolotta's Vermont home, according to an affidavit filed by prosecutors. The alleged relationship began when the victim was 12 years old, and continued until he was past the age of consent, according to the affidavit by Trooper Daniel Trottier of the Vermont State Police. The affidavit states the victim told Trottier that he purchased a dirt bike from Bartolotta in 2001, and subsequently he was forced to participate in sexual acts, including bondage, after he was unable to make sufficient payments on the purchase. The alleged victim was introduced to Meyer, who was a friend of Bartolotta's, about a year later, according to affidavit. The three allegedly engaged in sexual activity up until 2012, the affidavit says 

13-Year-Old Hitman Armando Moreno Found Dead in Mexico Jorge Armando Moreno, 13, admitted to taking part in at least 10 assassinations while working for the Los Zetas gang. He was arrested earlier this month and confessed to working as a hitman for the Mexican drug cartel. Authorities were forced to release him into the custody of his mother because of his age. Now he is dead. Moreno’s body was found on the side of the road 10 miles from the city of Morelos in Zacatecas state in central Mexico. It appeared as if the boy had been tortured. Five other bodies - four women and one man - were found alongside him. All of those bodies displayed signs of torture as well, reports The Sun. It is believed that one of the female victims may have been Moreno’s mother. State prosecutor Arturo Nahle said: “It would have been better for him if we’d been able to keep him in custody.” At the time of Moreno’s arrest, Nahle described him as “extremely dangerous.” Moreno was just four months shy of turning 14 when he was arrested along with 15 other drug cartel members. Had he actually been 14 at the time of his arrest, police would have been able to keep him in custody. Moreno confessed to killing a taxi driver and taking part in the murder of a woman whose body was set on fire after she was killed, according to authorities. It is estimated that as many as 20,000 minors are put to work by drug cartels in Mexico. One child hitman, Edgar Jimenez, was sentenced to three years in jail at the age of 14. Dubbed “El Ponchis,” Jimenez is in prison for homicide, kidnapping and drugs and weapons possession. “I participated in four executions but I did it drugged and under threat that if I didn’t they would kill me,” Jimenez said after his arrest. “I’ll go on the straight and narrow. I’ll work in anything else except this.”

Ogmundur Jonasson, Iceland's interior minister, is drafting legislation to stop the access of online pornographic images and videos by young people through computers, games consoles and smartphones. "We have to be able to discuss a ban on violent pornography, which we all agree has a very harmful effects on young people and can have a clear link to incidences of violent crime," he said. Methods under consideration include blocking access to pornographic website addresses and making it illegal to use Icelandic credit cards to access pay-per-view pornography.

A cocktail of alcohol metabolizing enzymes developed by them speedily reduces blood alcohol levels in drunk mice, the Daily Mail reported. Yunfeng Lu, a professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at UCLA, and Cheng Ji, a professor of biochemical and molecular biology at the University of Southern California injected the intoxicated mice with nanocapsules containing two enzymes. They found that the party mice that received the injection sobered up much quicker compared to those that didn`t get the enzyme treatment. The breakthrough is still in its early stages and is not ready to be tested on humans, but Lu said it could lead to a new class of drugs that act as an alcohol `antidote.` The nanocapsules work as a sort of booze buster in your gut, according to the scientists. It would almost be like having millions of liver cell units inside your stomach or in your intestine, helping you to digest alcohol, Lu said. Lu predicts the medicine could be taken in such simple form as a pill.

Deputies say Danny Vanzandt may have spontaneously combusted in his home SALLISAW, Okla. (CBS Houston/AP) - Sequoyah County authorities say a man who died in a fire at his home may have spontaneously combusted. Danny Vanzandt, 66, died in the blaze on Monday. Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart says several neighbors entered the home when they saw smoke and assumed trash had caught fire. Then they realized a person was burning. Lockhart said the remains were in the kitchen and there was no other damage in the home. The sheriff says there was no apparent source of the fire. "This is a case that I've never seen before," Lockhart told KFSM-TV. Authorities say the man had a history of heavy drinking and smoking. No cause of the fire has been determined and Lockhart says spontaneous combustion has not been ruled out. "I think there's only about 200 cases worldwide, and I'm not saying this happened. I'm just saying that we haven't ruled it out," Lockhart told KFSM. The body was sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa for an autopsy.

"It was the hope for many people that the guns are going to be silenced. Women and children are no longer going to die, men are no longer going to disappear to be killed in a very crude manner," he said. "But that has not changed. Instead what is happening is guns are intensifying on a daily basis." Much of the violence is sparked by long-running and bloody inter-ethnic conflicts. But some is committed by the nation's own security forces, who are supposed to be protecting the people. Last December, 11 died after soldiers opened fire on people protesting over the relocation of a local council headquarters in Wau, 400 miles (643km) north-west of Juba. None of those who fired the shots have been arrested. 

Passenger claims A380's emergency exit door 'came ajar' on Emirates Airline flight Emirates Airline has refuted claims that an emergency exit blew open mid-air on an Airbus A380 flight between Bangkok and Hong Kong. A passenger reportedly said that an aircraft door came ajar at 27,000ft on flight EK384 on Monday, February 11. Brit tourist David Reid told the UK’s Daily Mail on Friday that freezing air blasted into the jumbo jet and the cabin pressure plunged after the exit in business class opened nearly 4cm. However, an Emirates spokesperson told 7DAYS: “At no time during the flight did one of the upper deck doors open. “There was also no loss in cabin pressurisation at any time during the flight.” The Dubai carrier confirmed that there was a “whistling noise emanating from one of the doors on the A380 upper deck” but said the sound from the door was caused by “a small dimensional difference between the inflated door seal and the door lower frame striker plate when the door is in the closed position.” The spokesperson added: “This is currently under investigation in conjunction with Airbus. Emirates have now fixed the problem.” Reid claimed cabin crew started grabbing blankets and pillows, which they stuck together with duct tape to fill the gap, and said a green light indicated the door was open. In response, the airline said: “The blankets were placed around the door to abate the whistling sound emanating from the door, not to prevent the door from opening. “There was no point during the incident where the safety of the flight was in jeopardy. In addition, the green light next to the door does not represent that the door is open. It is an attendant indication panel and is used for communication information for the cabin crew. “The safety of our passengers and crew remains our number one priority and we work very closely with the manufacturer to ensure this.” 

Police: Wife killed ex-player in sleep [because he was looking at childporn] PHILADELPHIA -- A member of the University of Pennsylvania's 1979 Final Four team was fatally stabbed by his wife, who told police she had caught him looking at child pornography, according to court documents. Matthew White was found stabbed in the neck around 12:45 p.m. Monday in bed at his home, police said, and was pronounced dead a short time later. An officer responding to the home for a report of a stabbing found White's wife, Maria Rey Garcia-Pellon, as she pulled into the driveway, authorities said. As she was being taken into custody, according to a police affidavit, she said, "I caught him looking at pornography, young girls. I love kids. I had to do it." White was the starting center on the Penn team that went to the 1979 semifinals before losing 101-67 to eventual national champion Michigan State, led by Magic Johnson. White went on to be drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers and also played in Europe. Garcia-Pellon, 52, was in custody. Her attorney, Kathy Labrum, tells the Delaware County Daily Times her client has been having mental difficulties. The Associated Press left a message for Labrum on Wednesday. Investigators said they interviewed a friend of Garcia-Pellon, who told them she had come to her house Monday afternoon and said she had stabbed her 53-year-old husband after catching him viewing pornography -- possibly child pornography -- on the computer. The friend called police.

The pilot was forced to land flat on its belly on the tarmac at Warsaw airport with no wheels. The nightmarish ordeal of the passengers was caught on tape. The spectacle was striking, though hardly a boost to China’s soft power. One by one, the men were bundled with rope and led the deaths, followed by a gaggle of photographers snapping images. A debate raged online Friday over whether China Central Television should have broadcast the images. The live footage, argued one user of Sina Corp.’s Twitter-like Weibo microblogging service, would serve as a warning to those who target Chinese abroad. “Chinese also have dignity,” the user wrote. “Those who kill Chinese will also pay a price.” Indeed, China’s central government has recently faced growing pressure from the public to better protect its citizens abroad. His parents blame the "overreaching" District Attorney threatening 30+ years incarceration for Swartz's theft of research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Faced with long prison time and huge fines, his parents claim their outspoken son took his life and left no suicide note. Everything above can be read on 100s of websites. All of it is true. But is any of it accurate? Moses Avalon Those who know me, know when it comes to the values of activists, I speak from experience; any dedicated activist like Swartz expects prosecution for their "crimes." Some would argue they welcome it as vindication. Which, coupled with recent discoveries: that the DA offered Swartz a plea bargain with a paltry six-month term; that Swartz's lawyer, Elliot Peters, discouraged the deal-- feeling the case was winnable; and an announcement days before the tragedy that MIT was freeing the stolen files and objecting to felony charges, creates frustration for the support of Aaron's Law, and challenges the zeitgeist of Swartz as a persecuted victim driven to a desperate act. Activist/singer, Pete Seeger said of the incident, "... it was a tragedy for this brilliant young man to be so threatened that he hanged himself." True. But what we may not agree on, is what exactly threatened him. Maybe to better understand that we must ask some difficult and unpopular questions. Let's do that. And remember, I am only asking questions. What harm can there be in that? THE VIRTUAL PLEA Contrary to popular belief suicide notes are rare. Only one in three suicides are accompanied by anything written. Even when one applies a filter to Swartz's demographic: educated, male and publicly outspoken, there is no certainty. Hemingway left nothing, letting his work speak for itself. According to Swartz's girlfriend, who discovered his body, there was no note, but perhaps in her shock she didn't look in the right places. Given Swartz's canvas of choice I wonder if either the family or the police have asked the following: What were Swartz's last computer entries? Did he Google methods of suicide, or were his thoughts elsewhere? What sites did he visit; emails did he send; links did he click on? His Twitter feed shows nothing since December 8th, two days before his death. Yet he sent daily Tweets to his 12,000+ followers in the weeks prior. Was Swartz trying to cope with something he was hesitant to reveal? Did he email anyone for clarity? Whatever it was, his final bread crumbs are stored in his now famous Acer lap top. A virtual suicide note, as it were. History shows that "note writers" can choose creative mediums if they are creative thinkers: Sergei Esenin, a Russian poet in 1925 wrote in his own blood before hanging himself, "There's nothing new in dying now. Though living is no newer." And news anchor, Chris Chubbuck in 1974 shot herself in the head during her live broadcast after stating, "And now, in keeping with Channel 40's policy of always bringing you the latest in blood and guts, in living color, you're about to see another first-- an attempted suicide." No rule says you have to pin your note to the refrigerator, "Back in five minutes..." Or something like that. So far the family has not shared Swartz's final key-strokes with the public, closing interpretations. ASKING THE TOUGH QUESTIONS According to one study a common reason why outspoken people may not leave a note is: "...the content of a suicide note may be distressing to survivors. It may express anger and blame toward survivors. It may make survivors feel guilty for not responding better to the deceased." With which survivors might Swartz be angry? Are there clues? It is intellectually dishonest to ponder Swartz's wish of a "free and open Internet" yet confine the discussion only to "freeing" academic research or products protected by copyright. Swartz must have seen that hypocrisy speeding towards him. (Especially with SOPA in retrograde.) Eventually his definition of "free Internet" would have to expand beyond democratizing information. The next logical step would be democratizing how information is filtered in Search, specifically a Google Search. Or, how about decentralization of access to the Internet itself. The average household spends over $900/year with just a handful of options for access. Why shouldn't that be free? And so, what if it turns out that his new idea of "free" no longer romanticized those for whom he once fell on his sword-- the Big Data Internet Service Providers? Maybe he began to see, like most adults approaching 30, that freedom is not so black and white? But, this type of pax humana would surely be in conflict with his mentor, Lawrence Lessig. Swartz's death has inspired a deep sleeplessness within him. Why? Does Lessig know that such a revision of ideology would make more aggressive enemies for his protege than past attacks on musicians, authors, or even MIT; enemies whose tactics Lessig is very familiar? Maybe from Swartz's view, to shift his position even slightly would be distressing to family and followers, but to go forward to the next level, too dangerous for himself. Could this be the pressure he was experiencing in the end and not the thought of adding a few more lower-class felonies to his existing felony resume? If true, he would be in good company. History is rife with prophets who felt trapped between their conscience and benefactors thus preempting their own demise. Expanding views on a "free Internet" is not easy when you are already an Internet icon. There is no criticism intended of his family here . Clearly his inner circle while grieving might not be equipped to entertain theories like this. It's simpler to maintain the enigma and say, "We didn't find a note." There is a great deal to be learned from the last actions of a young genius working on the inside rail of the country's most evolutionary technology. A lesson forever suppressed as long as those controlling the conversation focus on soft targets and ignore the bread crumbs left by a brilliant man's final interests in life. Mo out 

[No Huma??] Egyptian magazine claims six Muslims responsible for White House embrace of Muslim Brotherhood Upon reporting President Morsi's hateful statements about the existence of the State of Israel yesterday, we noted that Barack Obama's White House has been incredibly kind to Morsi, especially regarding his brokering of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Egypt's Rose El-Youssef magazine may have the answer to why. It claims that six Muslims working in and around the White House have effectively shaped US policy, "from a position hostile to Islamic groups and organizations in the world to the largest and most important supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood." The Investigative Project on Terrorism offers a translation of the article, which asserts that much of the information is unsourced, and that the men are effectively Muslim Brotherhood operatives and sympathisers. This is certainly quite a claim.

The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, in a groundbreaking scoop that should once more shame major US media outlets (why are nonprofits now some of the only entities in America left breaking major civil liberties news?), filed this request. The document – reproduced here in an easily searchable format – shows a terrifying network of coordinated DHS, FBI, police, regional fusion center, and private-sector activity so completely merged into one another that the monstrous whole is, in fact, one entity: in some cases, bearing a single name, the Domestic Security Alliance Council. And it reveals this merged entity to have one centrally planned, locally executed mission. The documents, in short, show the cops and DHS working for and with banks to target, arrest, and politically disable peaceful American citizens. 

HRW Confirms Gaza Terrorists Killed Gaza Boy Shown in Iconic Photo of Egypt’s PM and Hamas’s Haniyeh Human Rights Watch has acknowledged that terrorists killed civilians in Gaza during Operation Pillar of Defense when rockets being fired into Israel fell short. “Rockets that fell short of their intended targets in Israel apparently killed at least two Palestinians in Gaza and wounded others,” Human Rights Watch said. The specific case mentioned in the report involves the four year-old boy used as a political tool by Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil during his visit to Gaza.

It is interesting how when Natasha Richardson fell, she appeared fine, but that he symptoms progressed much faster than Hillary who suffered the fall and concussion earlier this month. 

Steve Jobs' yacht impounded over unpaid bill AMSTERDAM - A superyacht built for Apple Inc's late co-founder Steve Jobs has been impounded in Amsterdam because of a dispute over an unpaid bill to designer Philippe Starck, a lawyer said on Friday. Jobs, who died last year after making his name and fortune at Apple, never got to use the yacht - called Venus - but had commissioned the French designer to work on the vessel, which cost more than 100 million euros to build. A lawyer representing Starck's company Ubik told Reuters his client had received 6 million euros out of a 9 million euro commission for his work on the minimalist vessel and was now seeking to recover the rest of what he was owed.

Suburban NY police investigate shredded documents found at Thanksgiving Day Parade MINEOLA, N.Y. — Suburban authorities are investigating how shredded police documents got tossed as confetti to spectators at last week's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Manhattan attorney Saul Finkelstein (FIHNK'-uhl-styn) says he and his college-age son, Ethan, noticed that some of the confetti included Social Security and license plate numbers. Some information appeared to have come from the Nassau County Police Department on New York's Long Island. Finkelstein says he saw massive amounts of the confetti at 65th Street and Central Park West. He and his son only took about 30 pieces home with them. Detectives from Long Island picked up the material Sunday. A department spokesman said Monday that an investigation is under way. It will include a review of procedures for disposing of sensitive documents.

USF researchers find 19 more graves at Dozier School for Boys Researchers from the University of South Florida say there are at least 50 graves on the grounds of a former Panhandle reform school – higher than a state estimate of 31 graves – and that a second cemetery is likely to exist. Anthropologists and archaeologists from USF have spent months conducting field work, scientific analysis and ethnographic research at the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, which has been the subject of investigations into abuse allegations and suspicious deaths. The school, which opened in 1900, was closed last year. A USF report contradicts a previous state report that said the identities of all 31 people buried at the school cemetery were confirmed. "We've always known the day would come when this type of information would come out," said Bryant E. Middleton, who was sent to Dozier in 1959. "And to me, it's going to provide some closure, it's going to provide some emotional relief, and a lot of satisfaction knowing there is a good chance now that state employees who perpetrated these crimes against these children may be held accountable."

Influenza A viruses often cause epidemics and pandemics of respiratory illnesses. Then the researchers left the cells alone for up to two days. After 30 to 48 hours, the researchers had found that the meth-exposed cells had far fewer influenza viruses left alive, compared to the control group of regular human lung epithelial cells. This indicated that meth lowered, rather than increased, risk of infection of the disease. In addition, to the researchers' surprise, they found that the more meth to which the cells were exposed, the less the virus reproduced.

The alleged abuse took place in the bathroom, library and classroom of the victim, and occurred after students were allowed “unfettered and unsupervised access to the Internet via computers located in the library of the Burris Laboratory School and on school laptops and iPads,” according to the lawsuit. The students used the devices to view pornographic videos and then “act out” the scenes from the videos on each other.

In a new report on GM wheat, New Zealand genetics Professor Jack Heinemann, of the University of Canterbury, said the CSIRO's technology as used in the wheat suppressed an enzyme which was similar to the human enzyme that produces glycogen. Humans eating the wheat could experience a decline of glycogen production in their bodies, leading to liver failure. His report was backed up in independent reviews by Australian biochemist Dr Judy Carman, of Flinders University, and by molecular genetics expert Dr Michael Antoniou, from Kings College, London. The CSIRO has revealed that two GM field trials are under way, using wheat and barley with altered starch composition. The latest crop was planted in June. "There are very special risk assessments that should be done on this kind of modification because we have very limited experience with this," he said. Why is Homeland Security acquiring new laser technology that can “instantly know everything about you from 164 feet away?” A new army manual for “Civil Disturbance Operations” describes how the military is to be used domestically within the US to put down protests, confiscate firearms and kill citizens. The police state that is being constructed in “freedom and democracy” America is without parallel in history. When the only terrorists are dupes organized by the FBI, it is clear that the purpose of the police state is not to protect Americans from Muslim terrorists. The purpose of the police state is to terrorize US citizens. It is not only Homeland Security that is being militarized. The government reported that a large ammunition order was made by the National Weather Service, later updated to have been the Fisheries Office. As there have been no terrorist attacks in the US since the 9/11 attack (itself suspect by experts), except for those organized by the FBI, this massive purchase of firepower is obviously not to protect Americans from Muslim terrorists. Do not expect Congress or the presstitutes to do anything about the rapid concentration of power in the police state that Bush and Obama have created. Do not expect to be rescued by federal courts. Even if some judges are inclined to defend the Constitution from its domestic enemy, the courts are powerless if the executive branch does not respect the rule of law. Currently, the executive branch is ignoring a federal judge’s injunction against the indefinite detention of US citizens. The Department of Justice (sic) lawyers will not even answer the judge’s questions. A gullible population is helpless if government decides to enslave the people. It is child’s play for government to discredit a people’s natural leaders and those who provide the people with accurate information. Most Americans have a very small knowledge base and very large ideological preconceptions. Consequently, they cannot tell fiction from fact. Consider the case of Julian Assange. When the US government, angry that WikiLeaks had published leaked documents that revealed the mendacity and deceit of Washington, first struck out at Assange, support for Assange was almost universal. Then Washington put out the story on the Internet that Assange was an intelligence agent working for the CIA or the even more hateful Mossad. Both leftwing and rightwing Internet sites fell for the obvious lie. Here we have gullibility on the level with those who believed Stalin’s charge that Bukharin was a capitalist agent. Once the libel of Assange began, it over-rode his clearance by the Swedish prosecutor’s office of sexual complaints made by the two women who seduced him. Seeing Assange on the ropes, a female prosecutor reopened the closed case, many believe at Washington’s urging. Feminists jumped in, demanding that Assange be punished for his seduction by women as he had obviously tricked or coerced them in some way. It was like Dominique Strauss-Kahn all over again. Falsely accused of sexually assaulting a New York hotel maid, the Director of the International Monetary Fund, chased on two continents by celebrity-hunting women, was knocked out of the race for the French presidency and had to resign his IMF position. The New York police, trained by decades of feminist propaganda to regard every sex charge brought by a women as the absolute truth, were made to look foolish and incompetent when clear evidence emerged that the charge was fabricated in order to extract money from Strauss-Kahn and possibly in order to knock him out of contention for the French presidency. And certainly not the Russians with American missile bases on their borders and a Washington-funded disloyal and traitorous political “opposition” which serves as Washington’s fifth column inside Russia. America, Putin acknowledged, wants to rule the world. But Washington is not going to rule Russia and China. If the current White House moron keeps his promise to Israeli prime minister Netanyahu that the US will attack Iran next June if Iran does not close down its nuclear energy program (a non-weapons program permitted to Iran as a signatory of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty), the White House will have opened the door to World War III. In such a war the US would not be immune from attack as it was in WW I and WW II. This time America could disappear in nuclear holocaust. This eyewitness account, from someone in theatre 8 (not 9 where the shooting happened), sounds like there was someone shooting them as they tried to escape 8. Hey Everybody, For those of you I'm not friends with on Facebook (or don't check it like a certain brother I won't name), I wanted to share this with you. I wrote this for my family and close friends, but so many people have reached out I decided to share it with everyone. I'm learning the shooting really did affect a nation, not just those of us directly involved and our loved ones. My goal is that by sharing one story of what went on in the theatre and living with it since then, it will help everyone be able to process and better work through this incident. You didn’t know where the shooters were, how many, or how long it would last. A movie theatre, a very predictable place, had become a dangerous, foreign location. Every move seemed like a life or death choice, and that made it harder to make any move. But you knew it wasn’t a good idea to stay put, as that just made you a sitting target. I have no idea how we ended up in theatre 8 instead of theatre 9. I’m in Colorado directing and acting in a movie I co-wrote. Some very nice producers really like the script and our ideas for what’s entertaining, so they are backing the project. Pretty exciting times. After a meeting with the cinematographer, I drove to Aurora with my cousin and co-director Ryan, and my friend and co-writer Tyler to catch the midnight show of The Dark Knight Rises. We love film and Chris Nolan. Still do. We didn’t all have tickets for the same after-midnight show, but the theatre employee told us it didn’t matter which of the theatres we sat in as the theatre was adding showtimes as they sold out. So we chose 8. I’ve been asked often about the details of the experience. They’re awful. In the fingerprint scene with Anne Hathaway, the gunshots started. The air in the theatre started to get smoky with tear gas, the emergency strobe lights started flashing and alarms and pre-recoded voices sounded as there were more gunshots. The lights in the room stayed off and Anne Hathaway’s gun battle on screen played loudly. People were yelling. Debris was falling on some and others were yelling to stay away from the walls where the bullets were coming through. Some people saw bright flashes with more gunshot sounds. We heard people were hit. As a group, the audience in the theatre began slowly walked toward the exits until the crowd stopped moving and started pushing back, as the people exiting were being shot. We stopped and looked around inside the theatre, not sure what to do, but not wanting to be trapped and easy targets. Someone figured out we could leave through the projection room at the top of the theatre. A lot of people didn’t think it was a good idea to leave. A few of us tentatively left the theatre into the balcony over the theatre lobby, hoping no one was waiting for us. We were lucky. We crawled along the balcony and down the stairs as we looked every which way for where the shooter or shooters may be next. When we reached the bottom of the stairs, we waited, hiding on the ground behind the short railing wall, taut, and scared, for what we guessed was the right time to make a run for the door. We made a guess and made the run. Once we were outside, we ran for the car. Many people, both calm and crying, were in the parking lot. Along with a lot of chaos. We heard there were explosives rigged. And there was the possibility the shooting might happen in the parking lot. We couldn’t think of a better idea than making our way toward the car. So we circled as wide as we could to the other side of the parking lot and got in the car. Oddly, that walk felt a bit like being toward the back at a music festival, where it was more quiet, but a lot of commotion and people were milling about nearby. After we arrived at the car we started to drive around the back of the theatre, but we decided not to. This was good, because we later heard the back of the theatre was home base for the shooter. We left the lot through a side exit, and the police stopped us, asking if we had seen anything. We knew then they were just as confused as we were. We waited at the light for police cars to drive by us and back toward the theatre. We lost count after 45 police cars, ambulances and fire trucks from every city and county drove past us at full speed. As the adrenaline began to fade, tears made their way to my eyes, but didn’t stream down my face. We got home and waited for hours for any news. There was very little, other than a blogger with a police scanner. We got to sleep at 4, and our phones started buzzing at 6. We didn’t sleep much. Each time I’m asked about the incident, I feel a pang of guilt, because comparatively, I got out easy. I had a sense of relief as we left the parking lot. Many people didn’t get that relief, so I feel guilty. They say it’s normal to feel this way, but this sure doesn’t feel normal. And so I continually process this in my head. The mental image that has not left me since that night is when we were crawling down the staircase, as we neared the point where we’d have to make a run for the door leading to the outside. We knew we couldn’t stay, because if anyone came to the top of the stairs we were helpless, but it was tough to decide the best moment to run near a door where moments before a gunman was shooting people. I looked over my shoulder and saw Ryan and Tyler pressed along the wall. It is much, much more gut-wrenching than you would think, seeing your loved ones having to hunker down in hopes of being protected from a killer or killers. The most intense feeling I had the whole night was in this moment, and five days later, it hasn’t left my belly. Lastly, a lot of people have asked what I have learned through this experience; is there any good that comes of it; or do I have any new insight on life. As a person who’s made his living creating movies, I’ve come to value an imagination and a strong belief system as the most effective tools to get anything accomplished. As soon as the pops began, I just started to imagine we would be ok. This mental work was an effort. My natural reaction was to be terrified. But that’s not helpful, so I just stuck with my imagination. Doing that brought with it a strength and calm in the midst of everything. I was suddenly overwhelmed by a feeling of love. And I had a raging energy in my belly and soul to protect Ryan and Tyler. As I’m sure they wanted for me. I don’t know my imagination helped us make it out alive and unhurt, but it helped me in the moment, and it has helped me in the moments since then, when my mind wanders to scary places. So I’m choosing to walk away from this in a way I think would make my grandpa proud. I choose to not be terrified. I choose to allow this experience and feeling in my belly to continually motivate me to be more of the person I want to be. I will continue to create. I will endeavor to inspire. I will treat people in the way they should be treated, regardless of how they treat me. I will wrestle with my dogs and make jokes with my friends. And I’ll give the world as much love as I have in my heart, because that’s what feels best to me. ####

UFOs and Disney: Behind the Magic Kingdom The Disney/UFO connection can be traced back to 1953 when the CIA-sponsored Robertson Panel recommended that the US government make efforts to strip UFOs of their "aura of mystery" through the exploitation of mass media including television and motion pictures. In this context, the panel highlighted Walt Disney Productions specifically as a potential conduit for its propaganda. Decapitated torsos, other body parts found floating in Detroit River The decapitated bodies of a man and a woman were pulled from the Detroit River and a nearby canal on Tuesday, about an hour before a fisherman discovered body parts just beneath the surface, along with a circular saw and a suitcase. The bodies, which were also missing hands and feet, didn't provide any immediate clues about the deaths or potential suspects, Detroit police said. Police wouldn't comment on whether the fisherman's grisly discovery was connected, but did confirm that additional body parts were found along the concrete and steel seawall. "It was a gruesome sight -- something you don't want to see on the river when you want to relax," the fisherman, Hollis Fussell, told The Associated Press from the river bank as police divers prepared to go into the river. U.S. Border Patrol agents spotted the first body from shore about 6:45 a.m. in Fox Creek, which empties into the mile-wide Detroit River. The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to retrieve the body, and on their way to Fox Creek, guardsmen found the second mutilated body floating in the river. About an hour later, Fussell was getting ready to set up his fishing gear along the river seawall when he looked into the partially clear and greenish water near Fox Creek. About 10 feet down, he said, he saw what looked like "three legs." "They were submerged in the water," the 53-year-old said. "A sheet was in the water. A saw was there. A suitcase, too." 

Tensions Boil As Israeli Oil Riches Grow Israel’s once hidden oil riches are now certain to be so large its treasures could make it the richest oil country in the world. And, its neighbors are not only noticing, they’re boiling mad.cn It was just forty years ago when Golda Meir, the former prime minister of Israel once famously quipped, “Why did Moses lead us to the one place in the Middle East without oil?” Well Prime Minister, Moses turned out to have a pretty good eye for what a promised land might look like. Since oil was first discovered in the Middle East, Israel has been cut off from the world’s exploration resources because of its Arab neighbors. No major oil company would dare explore there in fear of an Arab backlash. Over time technologies in oil exploration have improved and international experts have noticed Israel’s potential. In the past, oil-exploration adventurers would visit Israel, some of them reminiscent of Indiana Jones, arguing enthusiastically that there had to be legendary oil reserves in the promised land. The adventurers picked their drilling sites according to concealed hints in the TANACH, especially Yehezkel, but the drillings ended in disappointment. The legend of oil riches in Israel turned into a cruel joke. They simply didn’t know what they were looking for and didn’t have the proper technology to find it. But, in the last three years Israel has discovered one mega-discovery after another. First, it discovered 1.5 billion barrels of oil onshore at Rosh Ha'Ayin, located about 10 miles inland from the Tel Aviv coastline. It was a small but important find that sparked a flurry of exploration activity. Then, a big one followed by another – both are noteworthy, and rare, and are the largest finds anywhere in the last decade. US Geological Survey (USGS) estimates, the entire Leviathan Basin holds 1.7 billion barrels of recoverable oil and 700 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas. Expert surveys for the Tamar field conducted by the U.S. petroleum consultants Netherland, Sewell & Associates indicate that the field contains proven reserves of 217 billion cubic meters of gas. And then another find. It turns out that Israel has the second-biggest oil shale deposits in the world, outside the US: "We estimate that there is the equivalent of 250 billion barrels of oil here. To put that in context, there are proven reserves of 260 billion barrels of oil in Saudi Arabia, says Dr. Harold Vinegar, the former chief scientist of Royal Dutch Shell." Let’s do the math. That’s 250 billion in shale oil, 3.2 billion in conventional oil in estimated reserves, or enough oil to match that of Saudi-Arabia. Plus, that’s 50 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, giving it about 10% of the entire world’s gas reserves -- all while Israel’s exploration activities are just beginning. I’d say most rational people would say this is nothing short of a miracle. But one man’s miracle is not a miracle to another. Economic miracles tend to upset a lot of sovereigns eager to get their share – whether they can legitimately claim it or not. The backlash has begun and the geopolitical crisis now playing out will be worthy of the most serious prophetic predictions. Israel, whose exploration is the most advanced, is making plenty of new discoveries. Cyprus, too, is on the cusp of energy riches and (Iranian backed) Lebanon is anxious to launch exploration of its waters. As would have it, all this excitement is exacerbating old rivalries between Israel and Lebanon and between Turkey and Greece, with Russia, Syria, Egypt and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip likely to get drawn into some serious drama. Worse yet, Russia is determined to rival Turkish ambitions for regional influence and cannot help being dragged into the conflict. Unfortunately, Israel is seemingly giving Russia the cold shoulder. As late as last week, the Russian government-backed oil producer Rosneft held consultations on possible participation in the development of Israel's offshore natural gas fields, but emerged from the negotiations with no "effective offers." This geopolitical snub won’t go unnoticed by Russia. Last month, Turkey, a former strategic ally of Israel and now one of its most strongest critics, warned other major international companies seeking exploration licenses from the Greek Cypriot government, (Israel's new ally), to stay away. Predictably, Israel responded by dispatching military protection to the seas over its oil interests. Turkey has now warned it will stop Israel from unilaterally exploiting gas resources in the eastern Mediterranean and suggests it is prepared to respond with force to make its point. And that, according to geopolitical experts poses a direct challenge to U.S. policy. The U.S. has a strong interest in eastern Mediterranean with countries finding and exploiting offshore reserves. But the U.S. has its hands-full politically, and is ill-prepared financially to support any new conflict. It currently borrows every dollar it needs to run its military and the American people aren’t going to favor any new conflict they have to pay for – even if it were necessary to protect Israel. It is the long-running issue of war-divided Cyprus between Turkey and Greece that is the real key to understanding Turkey's squabbles with Israel. Here’s why. Cyprus was split into Greek and Turkish zones when the Turks invaded in 1974 and seized the northern one-third of the Cyprus island. Recent discoveries of natural gas are thus encouraging Turkey to renew its diplomatic campaign on behalf of “Turkish Cypriots" in the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Why? For the gas and oil it claims to own. Thus, Turkey is launching its own exploration in and around Cyprus and any major strikes it may make (and it will) will only fuel the crisis. So Turkey and Israel aren’t seeing eye-to-eye and are willing to fight over it. So, the next big boom (sorry for the pun) is firmly centered on Cyprus. Tensions recently escalated when the Greek Cypriot government (the legitimate Cyprus government recognized by the U.N.) started pushing to open up its Aphrodite field off the southern coast. It’s a whopper that's likely to match the Israelis' biggest field, the Leviathan. Worse yet, it’s probably a geologic extension of the Israeli-owned Leviathan. Aphrodite contains an estimated 22 trillion cubic feet of gas and sizeable oil deposits as well. On May 19th, Turkey drew a line in the sand. "Turkey will not allow any activity in these fields," the Turkish Foreign Ministry declared. But 15 companies and consortiums, including Russia's Novatec, Eni of Italy, France's Total and Petronas of Malaysia are all seeking licenses to drill in Aphrodite and 11 other exploration blocks off (Israel friendly) southern Cyprus. So get this picture into your mind. There’s a crowd forming that could turn into an angry mob with everyone wanting to plunder Israel’s newly found riches. The Israeli’s and Cyprus plan is to funnel their gas through a joint pipeline through Greece to Western Europe to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russia for most of its gas. Mr. Putin, the Russian President, isn’t happy about the possibilities of losing a big customer for its natural gas production. On the other hand, Turkey is determined to restore its historical influence across the Middle East and Central Asia by applying pressure to transform its resource-poor country into the key energy hub between east and the west – a direct challenge to an Israel/Cypress plan to pipe oil and gas through Greece on to Italy to fuel the rest of Europe. That increases the stakes in the eastern Mediterranean, with Russia, one of the world's top oil and gas powers, trying to find a way to cash in on the boom. Moscow is nervous about Turkey's ambitious regional plans. Russian President Putin also intends to restore Moscow's Cold War influence in the region. That places Russia and Turkey on opposite sides, including in the Syrian civil war. Moscow backs the Damascus regime, a longtime client; Turkey supports the rebels. And, neither appreciates Israel’s newly found oil power, which threatens the entire eastern Mediterranean’s balance of power. Moscow is not without some links to the riches. It has strong links with the Greek Cypriots but its offers to help Cyprus is motivated in part by the prospect of losing Russia's naval base at the Syrian port of Tartus, its only toehold in the Mediterranean. If the Syrian regime falls, Russia loses its military base in the region. So it's seeking an alternative base for its Black Sea Fleet in Cyprus – the epicenter of the oil discoveries. Syria too, has great riches off its coast; a fact not lost on Russia. If the Syrian regime falls it is certain that Russia’s desire to pick up the pieces (for its own) will be irresistible. In summary, we have a newly enriched Israel powerful enough to completely change the geopolitics of the Middle East on one side. On the other, we have Turkey, determined to cash in – with force if necessary – to establish its own claim to riches while Russia, with its impoverished Muslim regional allies seeking attention. Then there’s Persian-backed Lebanon, in need of development funding for its significant rich fields just offshore of its own border. As the old saying goes, “the best way to get attention is to start a fight.” And, that’s exactly what will happen.

Charles Baker Got Naked, Ate Flesh Of Jeffery Blake During Visit With Children: Florida Cops Florida man on drugs got naked, barged into his girlfriend's house, bit a chunk out of a man's arm and ate it, then powered through several cop-deployed Taser probes before getting tackled and arrested. Those are just some of the allegations against Charles Baker of Palmetto, who is already being likened to the Miami man shot and killed after he got naked and chewed 75-percent of a homeless man's face off. He was allegedly high on an unknown substance when he started yelling, throwing furniture around the home, and taking off his clothes. Jeffrey Blake, 48, who lives at the home, tried to stop the madness, but Baker reportedly chewed a slab of flesh from Blake's arm. Somehow Blake was able to restrain him until cops arrived. But the violence didn't end there.

No arrests had been made and the status of the man who apparently was beaten remained unknown because nobody involved contacted the highway patrol, Joslin said.

About Jill who also died in Thailand, at the same guest house, similar circumstances. Jill and I had been on the island for 6 days in a bungalow with no A/C. We decided to splurge and get one with A/C for two days. So the night before we moved into the new place we went out late, because we planned to sleep all the next day in this A/C room. So we got to the new room around 11 am. slept for about 3 hours. I cant ever sleep that much but Jill was great at sleeping. I told her I was going to go check the internet, she said she would stay there. I was gone about an hour. I came back hung out for another hour or so. We both were feeling hungry then. So I said I would go get some food, and bring it back, Jill stayed in the room. It took me about 45 minutes to get food and drinks. I went back to the room. We ate there. hung out another hour or so. We then decided to go walking around. We went and sat on the beach for a while, watched the sunset and had a little pizza. After that we met some friends, but the whole time Jill was saying her stomach wasn't feeling that great. So around maybe midnight she said she was going to go lie down. But I should stay out a bit.. So I did, I went back to the room around 2am, Jill was looking real bad, vomiting, I laid down with her to try to make her feel better still thinking it was the burger that was making her feel bad. Probably around 4 am I started to feel bad and vomiting myself. That is when Jill looked horrible. I ran outside and found a kinda shopping cart thing, brought it back, scooped Jill up and put her in. I then started running towards the hospital screaming for help. That is when I met Per. He came out of his dive shop, and helped me push her the rest of the way,( about a mile) We got her to the hospital. They did CPR for about an hour to no avail. I now think that is why I didn't get sick, because I kept getting these breaks from the air in the room, while Jill kept staying in bed. She was exposed to the air in the room for probably 5 or six more hours than I was. I was vomiting at the hospital, but I thought it was just because of the situation. Now maybe it was from my shorter exposure to the air in the room

Israel Discovers New Giant Off-Shore Oil and Gas Field An Israel energy company announced Sunday it has discovered an off-shore energy field that may even surpass previous finds in terms of the possibilities of developing commercial grade oil. Israel Opportunity Energy Resources LP announced that its Pelagic licenses indicate 6.7 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas and 1.4 billion barrels of oil. By comparison, the previously announced Tamar and Leviathan off-shore fields contain an estimated 9 and 17 TCF of natural gas. The amount of commercial oil, if any, has not been finalized, but estimates of possible oil in the Leviathan field have been downsized to 600 million barrels. Discoveries of oil and gas have made outdated the old joke that Moses took the wrong turn from Egypt, leading Israel to sand and leaving oil for the Arabs.

Chicago Police Face Accusations of Entrapment, Brutality in Crackdown on NATO Protesters [bet they all be acquitted] Dozens of anti-NATO protesters have been arrested in Chicago over the past several days, including five men who were jailed on domestic terrorism charges. Three of the men were accused of plotting to attack President Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s home and other targets. Their lawyers say they were entrapped by government informants. The Chicago police have also been criticized by activist groups for using violent force to break up protests and accused of targeting independent media activists who have been streaming the protests live over the internet. No to Boycotts of Israel [one of Avaaz better petitions] On the 15th May 2012 Eamon Gilmore the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs suggested he may seek a EU wide boycott of Israeli settlement goods. Israeli settlements are in Area C, Area C of the West Bank under the Oslo Accord was assigned to Israel.Area A and B was given to the Palestinian Authority to control. If Minister Gilmore wishes to seek a boycott of Israeli settlement goods,We seek an EU wide boycott of Moroccan goods made in occupied Western Sahara and Indonesian goods made in West Papua New Guinea. We urge Minister Gilmore,Minister Creighton, an Taoiseach Enda Kenny (Prime Minister of Ireland) and the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs not to seek a boycott of Israeli goods ,instead they should look to build bridges between various communities in the Middle East. Singling out Israel will not secure a lasting peace.

Credit: Creative Commons: Greenpeace Paula Bear was unmoved by Shell's legal threats after opening their letter yesterday morning Yesterday morning, staff at Greenpeace Germany received an important-looking letter from Shell - well, Shell’s Legal Services department. Over the next 24 hours or so, identical letters arrived at other Greenpeace offices, including Mexico, UK, France, Hungary, Nordic, Japan, Mediterranean, Poland, Greece, Czech Republic, Belgium, Canada and even Greenpeace’s Science Unit. I think it’s fair to say Shell had something they wanted to say to us. The oil giant’s message was: I know where you live and I’ve seen where you sleep. I swear to everything holy that your mothers will cry when they see what I’ve done to you. I’m paraphrasing, obviously. But it is true to say that Shell clearly wants to make certain that every Greenpeace office in the world a) knows about the injunction Shell has taken out against Greenpeace USA and b) understands that if any office was to even think of going to Alaska and peacefully protesting near one of their drill ships, Shell will break out the big legal guns and point them straight at us. As it happens, they didn’t need to go to the effort. All Greenpeace offices are well aware of the injunction Shell has taken out against Greenpeace US - mostly because, in our long history of being not very popular with corporate polluters, Shell’s injunction stands out as one of the most draconian and sweeping legal measures ever taken against a Greenpeace office. It’s up there with Cairn’s social media gagging order against Greenpeace UK and Greenpeace International (which is still in force today). The injunction stops Greenpeace USA from holding peaceful protests (legal or otherwise) anywhere near Shell’s drill ships in the US. Why? Well, according to Shell’s letter (pdf), Shell doesn’t want any protests to threaten “Shell’s right, interest and investments in exploring for oil and gas on United States leases”.
