Photos of the new Lamborghini Centenario supercar, built to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini and just 40 being built. The Renault Sandero Stepway is the rougher, tougher cousin of the Sandero – well, at least in the looks department. They offer the same interior features and dashboard, but the Stepway gets very cool-looking ruggedised seats. The black plastics around the wheel arches are meant to be cheaper to replace, and more scratch resistant, so the odd parking lot ding doesn’t become an insurance nightmare.
What I like about the Renault Sandero Stepway is the Frenchies have not skimped on features – both in terms of safety and tech. The car comes standard with four airbags and has 5 stars slapped on the back by EuroNCAP – a strict regulatory body of vehicle crash safety.
The drive is a bit dull, but that engine never lets you down, with 66 kW and 135 Nm on tap, the car never feels slow. At R141 900 for the standard Sandero, the Stepway is about R18 000 more at R159 900, and offers a unique body kit, roof racks, new seats and park distance control, which I always find useful.
Ciro started his first car website at the age of 19 and promptly dented his first ever test car.
Honda has launched its HR-V crossover in South Africa, which is set to do battle with the segment champion Nissan Qashqai. The 1.5 Comfort, which has been on sale in South Africa for a month already, rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and benefits from standard features such as a multi-function steering wheel, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with CD player, Bluetooth capability and USB and auxiliary ports. The 1.8 Elegance has just arrived in South Africa and this model scales up with 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights and DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen with rear camera, HDMI port, leather upholstery and a larger, 50-litre fuel tank. In terms of safety, the Honda HR-V comes equipped with ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop Signal. The interior is comfortable and well-built with quality materials giving it a more upmarket feel. The Honda HR-V is squarely aimed at a younger market and is perfectly moulded to suit the needs of young professionals and start-up families in need of a stylish and versatile vehicle. We will have the Honda HR-V for a full test soon, so be sure look out for a thorough evaluation coming your way.

We spent a week with the budget-busting Peugeot 2008 - one of the French brand's most important models for 2014.
The Peugeot 2008 is a great-looking little crossover which combines efficiency, practicality with a generous helping of affordability. I have a suspicion that this motor is mechanically identical to the Citroen DS4 I drove not so long ago. There's also cruise control with speed limiter, dual-zone climate control, auto wipers, auto headlamps with daytime-running lights as well as park distance control.

The cabin is spacious and there are some funky touches like the blue neon lights surrounding the speedometer and rev counter, the strip lighting in the roof and the ability to customise the vehicle with neon green and pink stickers.
Upon further research, it seems Grip Control is just variations of traction control and not an all-wheel drive system.
But in the eight years since the Q5 arrived Audi has been busy churning them out as the world continues its love affair with SUV, and are now celebrating the one millionth production model rolling off the production line in Ingolstadt. One million Audi Q5 cars – that is due to the outstanding performance of our production team. The Audi q5 may have sold 1.7 million worldwide in the last eight years, but its sales show no sign of slowing down, with 267k sold last year. They even have the same wheels and tyres, but the Stepway rides 4o mm higher; very handy for gravel roads.
The car comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity for telephone and audio playback, there’s a USB port and Aux jack, and there are clever controls situated behind the steering wheel which allow you to interact with the audio system without taking your hands off the wheel. I can’t honestly say the extra options are actually worth R18 000 more, but the overall package feels and looks a lot more premium. The steering feel was on the heavier side and it felt really solid and planted on the road. In its homeland of Japan, the HR-V is a best-seller and it certainly has a tough market to contend with on South African tar. In Comfort guise, 88 kW and 145 Nm torque is at your disposable while the Elegance offers 105 kW and 172 Nm of torque. However, the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated Elegance was up to the task and it performed reasonably well on our drive in the countryside. Overall, Honda is offering a good quality product in the HR-V and it’s well worth consideration if you are shopping for a tasteful crossover.

Crossovers are all the rage, and Peugeot's aim is to capitalise on the market by ticking all the boxes. I really liked the design and you can see it has been built from the inside out with practicality and interior comfort playing key roles. I enjoyed that engine as it offered just enough power to make for entertaining drives, but its real forte was economy.
Fortunately, my test unit was plain Jane and didn't have the neon green, which may be a bit garish for some. A dial near the gearstick allows you to select modes like Normal, Sand, Snow and All-Terrain. At R269 900, there's exceptional levels of specification and in reality, I don't think you'll need more toys and features than that. For that reason, I am very proud that we have created a worldwide crowd puller with this SUV model from the main plant in Ingolstadt.

Stability and grip when cornering hard over bumpy roads is also claimed to have improved. Similar changes were made to the BRZ's Toyota 86 mechanical twin last month, but it is unclear if the two coupes share damper specifications. However the aesthetics not only make the car look tougher, they might just save you money too. So twist your dealer’s arm into selling you the Stepway for a price that looks more like the Sandero’s. Even on a bouncy country road, and the odd dirt road, the HR-V wafted along, delivering a pleasant, smooth drive. We attended the launch of the Honda HR-V in Cape Town and buckled up for a 215km journey through the Cape Winelands. Both derivatives are mated to a CVT transmission with selectable Sport mode and steering-mounted paddle shifters. The CVT transmission did a fair job of scooting the HR-V around, but requires a more conservative pedal approach to get the most out of it.
Rear passengers have lots of leg, head and shoulder room and Honda's Magic Seat system allows for various seat configurations to manipulate loading space. While there is plenty power for cruising, you're going to land up with strong leg and arm muscles, as you'll be working that gearbox to get the most out of the vehicle.
I was quite surprised to see a full LCD touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, aux jack and two USB ports. I was quite impressed with the amount of cabin space in the Peugeot 2008 and it's worth noting that high quality materials have been used extensively. It's a very comfortable car and a longer journey in a vehicle with these ride and handling qualities wouldn't result in cramp and sore buttocks. Being a bit of an offroad and 4x4 enthusiast, I headed straight for the nearest dirt section and promptly got stuck. Speaking of traction control and other safety features, it's worth noting the Peugeot 2008 comes standard with a five-star Euro NCAP rating as well as six airbags. An aggressive approach results in a lot of unnecessary engine noise which could get annoying, but the HR-V gains speed quite quickly as a result. Boot capacity is at 393-litres with a full-size spare wheel underneath the luggage floor and space increases to 1 002-litres with the 60:40 split rear seats folded down. Only with some careful digging and switching the traction control completely off was I able to recover the Peugeot 2008. That said, the HR-V performs well, but it’s not particularly exhilarating to drive, even when Sport mode is engaged or when using the paddle shifters.
