Leonard Cohen’s song “Hallelujah,” despite its title, does not necessarily offer a religious point of view.  The song includes one section with a seemingly endless stream of high notes.  The King’s Singer’s soprano voice David Hurley said those high notes created high anxiety in the recording studio.

“I remember when we recorded it, feeling a sort of, sort of emotional holding on to the words and the music to get through it.  It’s funny, there's a sort of moment, at the end of each phrase you get the word ‘hallelujah’ and because it was technically quite hard, it was a sort (small laugh) feeling inside of, ‘Hallelujah, I’m nearly at the end of the phrase’.”
