The young pianist from China, Yuja Wang (YOO-zha Wong) is generating considerable excitement for her playing and astounding technical mastery of composers like Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev.  She has a Rachmaninoff CD coming out this year, and on her debut CD, she specifically chose to record the Chopin Piano Sonata No. 2.  It was a matter of timing.

“I was at that period that I just liked things that’s dark (laugh), not color wise, just, it’s something that’s almost like the end of the world but I think it’s just so forward-looking and so innovative and the first movement is just so dramatic, over the top dramatic and dark.
