Violinist Hilary Hahn's new CD offers mostly sacred arias by Bach that include a prominent role for the violin.  At times, she converses back and forth with the singers and at other times she ornaments the vocal melodies.  Often, she plays the melody first before the singers begin, and that, she says can be "tricky."

"When I play that I want to make sure to set up the singers' entrance so that they don't sound like they're singing a different aria when they enter (laughs), but I also need to make sure that what I'm taking from their interpretation into mine works on the violin.  So it's kind of a translation effort, you know, taking the technique of singing words and making that into the technique of playing the violin.'
