The Real Slumdog Millionaires of Dharavi

Mumbai’s sprawling Dharavi (Dar-ah-vee) neighborhood, featured in the Oscar winning film “Slumdog Millionaire,” is Asia’s largest slum.  But it is also an economic hub located on valuable land.  Kristin McHugh examines a controversial plan to redevelop Dharavi and learns the story of the slum is far more complex than that of extreme poverty.
