“Road Movies” by John Adams has been called “the sonic equivalent of watching landscapes through a car's windshield.”  Violinist Leila Josefowicz (LEE-Lah joe-SEF-oh-witz) will play “Road Movies” in a moment, but first, here’s her take on the American born, Harvard trained composer.

"He’s sort of a compositional rebel in a certain way, in that he really broke free of the rules and really started writing in the style that that spoke to him. He’s developed his own sound of different influences. The highly trained part speaks for itself, but then you hear a little bit of rock n’ roll influence, a little bit of jazz influence – and sort of an electric energy. This is really something that took me by storm, because of course, I love all those things."
