Pregnancy edema food

Edema most often occurs in the feet, ankles, and legs, but any part of the body may develop edema.
There is some evidence indicating that evening primrose oil, fish oils or linoleic acid (a fatty acid found in safflower oil) may help with edema associated with preeclampsia, but it may not help with the normal edema of pregnancy, and as of yet, no recommendations have been made.
Certain level of swelling in your hands and feet is normal during pregnancy and there is nothing that you should be worrying about. All these would help you to a great extent but edema is a temporary condition and would go away after you give birth.
You may want to wear clothing designed specifically for pregnancy, which is meant to grow with you and is often less constricting than non-maternity clothes. Wearing cool, loose, and smooth textured clothing such as cotton or merino wool can also prevent overheating and excess sweating, which can exacerbate edema. Avoid sodium rich-foods.[30] Processed and prepared foods, for example, contain high amounts of sodium.

If you notice a sudden increase in swelling or edema that seems unusual, call you doctor immediately. During pregnancy, this vitamin helps prevent eclampsia and treats early stages of the disease. The medical condition is termed as edema and is also popularly known as water retention and it is basically a condition when your body retains too much fluid.
During pregnancy, your body produces more blood and body fluids to sustain your developing baby.
Clothes that are tight around your wrists, arms, or ankles can become extremely uncomfortable if you have swelling from edema. Edema might be uncomfortable for 3 to 4 months, but retaining fluid helps make child bearing easier on the body. The swelling can be localized in the face, arms and neck, or may involve the legs, ankles and feet, known as dependent edema.

Preeclampsia is characterized by edema (fluid retention), protein in the urine and high blood pressure. Pregnant women might retain more excess water sometimes and this is what leads to swelling.
Give yourself a massage in the affected areas or consider seeing a professional masseuse to help relieve edema.
It may be that the rise in hormone levels of pregnancy is causing you to retain more fluid.
For example, an accumulation of fluid in the interstitial air spaces (alveoli) in the lungs occurs in heart failure and is called pulmonary edema.
