TWEETLINKEDINCOMMENTEMAILMOREMINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kevin Martin has returned to the lineup for the Minnesota Timberwolves after missing the previous 34 games with a fractured right wrist.Martin was activated on Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics. Incredibly, Martin actually got hurt in the first quarter in the game against the Knicks, and still ended up scoring 31 more points and to lead the Timberwolves to victory.
Even though it provides an opportunity for the young Timberwolves players to develop, hopefully Martin recovers soon. Kevin Martin the starting shooting guard for the Timberwolves fractured his wrist against the Knicks and is out indefinitely.

So far, the Timberwolves are missing Ricky Rubio with a sprained ankle, Nikola Pekovic with a sprained wrist and now Martin out also with a wrist injury. Without Martin, the Timberwolves don’t have their biggest scoring threat, which means that these next few weeks could be brutal for the Timberwolves without Rubio and Martin to lead the offense. This really hurts the Timberwolves, as Martin is the team’s leading scorer and is one of the few veterans on the team. Time will tell if Bennett or any of the other young guys like Andrew Wiggins or Shabazz Muhammad progress as a scorer as Martin recovers from his injury.

However, one positive that could arise from Martin’s injury is that one of the young guys steps up and fills the scoring void. Although there’s a chance no one can score and the Timberwolves offense stalls out with the absence of Rubio, Pekovic and Martin.
