A tribute to tributes - What do The Beatles, Kiss, Roxette, Queen, Genesis, and Pink Floyd have in common? They're all bands that have at least one "tribute band" in Argentina. And, of course, followers, who are fans of the "original" bands as well as the "imitating" bands, in some cases, even more devoted to the latter. The documentary A Tribute to Tributes really discovers a world with its own set of rules, with stories as real as they are unbelievable, and shows a weird but definitely alive phenomenon. Has rock ran out of ideas? Is the audience not willing to open up to anything new? Is there a special talent in this region of the world for these tributes? The film by Adrián Fares and Leo Rosales does not necessarily respond to all these questions, but raises them with humor, tenderness, surprise, and a very skillful eye for finding extraordinary stories, of high originality, you just might say, in this copyist world. Seeing (and hearing) is believing.
