In your first 10 days you will need to avoid the following foods, this, in my experience was the hardest part about the Advocare 24 day challenge and where I was able to prove that I has what it takes to reach my goals and beat this challenge. You should avoid at all costs alcohol, fried foods, refined sugars, syrups, honey, corn, breads, potatoes, crackers, chips, candy, white rice, cheeses, mushrooms, dressings and creamy sauces, dried or canned fruits, lunch meats, yogurt, milk, coffee, energy drinks and sodas. What you should be eating during this first 10 days is fresh fruits, green vegetables, salads, chicken, fish, turkey, eggs, lean red meats, lean ground beef or turkey, tofu, almond milk, avocados, natural peanut butter, and unsalted cashews or almonds. This will probably be a pretty drastic lifestyle change for most people, but keep in mind that it is only for 10 days and the point is to get the harmful toxins out of your body and not add new toxins. Once you pass the first 10 days, you will move into the max phase meal plan which is very similar to the food choices from the cleanse phase but not as restrictive. You will be adding in more complex carbohydrates and other items that were off limits during the cleanse phase. The great thing about the max phase is you can snack on fresh veggies at any time when you are feeling hungry, you really cannot eat too many. I can remember it like it was yesterday, I was just over 280lbs, and for the first time in my life I was disgusted at what I saw looking back at me in the mirror. I noticed my weight gain the entire time but knew I was only temporary and didn’t worry about it. It was no shock to me, I had terrible eating habits and they were finally catching up to me.
A friend of mine at work was having great success with her weight loss, so I asked what the heck she was doing. This is when I was first introduced to Advocare, then about a week later she told me about the Advocare 24 Day Challenge.
I was skeptical at first because I had never heard about it and it was not one of the ones from the tv, but she told me that is what she was using and I had seen her results. YUCK, I had forgot what they said about not letting it sit around, so it of course turned into pudding, but I was determined to stick to the plan so I added some water, mixed it up and did the best I could to get it down. I really thought I would struggle with the reduction in the amount of food I was consuming while on the challenge but actually it seemed like I ate more than I was before and stayed fuller longer. The day 1 fiasco with the fiber drink was my only real hiccup during the cleanse phase, besides all the dang pizza and fried chicken commercials that had me wanting to give up and cheat. I kept telling myself why I was doing the Advocare challenge in the first place and kept moving forward. Day 11 – the max phase, by now the cleanse was behind be and I was still pumped for my day 24 weight in. The beginning of the max phase is when I first realized I could actually finish this challenge. I had chosen the MNS Max C because I knew appetite control was going to be my weakness that would prevent me from staying on course. I got to try the meal replacement shakes for the first time, I went with vanilla because I had read you could mix in fruit.
I kinda felt like I was cheating a little because it seemed like I was having dessert for breakfast.
I got through day 12 with no problems, I was really starting feel the increase in energy that comes from eating right and exercising.
I didn’t go crazy with the exercise in the first half of the challenge, but in the beginning of day 13 is when I actually cheated for first time. I weighed myself that morning and when I saw I was already down 6 pounds, my confidence shot up and I knew I could get to 20 lbs lost if I stepped up my exercise. So that is what I did, instead of a lazy 30 minute walk on the thread mill each day, I stepped up my pace on treadmill for the same 30 minutes but added an extra 30 minutes of free weights each day. This was a whole new arena for me, me, the 280+ pound guy eating right and spending an hour in the gym each day. I only missed two days in the gym over the last 14 days and I think that may have been what caused me to come up short on my 20 lb weight loss goal.

I was so proud of what I was able to accomplish thanks to hard work and sticking to the Advocare 24 Day Challenge meal plan. For me, what was better than the weight loss or the increased energy I had was the fact that I now knew it was possible.
That is normally all I really needed, just knowing it was possible and that I proved to myself that I could do anything I set my mind to. I have not let my momentum from my Advocare challenge die, I have continued eating right and working out as much as I can.
To date I have lost 64 pounds using Advocare products, my goal is 85 pounds and as soon as I hit my goal, I will be redesigning this blog with my new look plastered all over it.
