This map shows life expectancy ages broken down by county. You can find just how old the people in your county lived on average in 2010. We also compared it to life expectancy in 1985 and showed how much it has changed since then. By clicking the top buttons, you can even switch between men and and women.
The numbers came from a report done by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation released on July 10, 2013. In the study, the research group used data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and adjusted for self-reporting bias using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Both surveys are performed nationally by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In addition, the CDC changed their BRFSS procedures in 2011, which makes it difficult to compare any results from before 2011 to after 2011.
