Are you looking to start the new year with a great money saving challenge that will help you save over $1,000 by the end of the year…just from using some additional pocket money? I’ve seen this published by a few sources and thought this would be really cool to share with you.
Each week, you’ll save one dollar more than the previous week and place it in a jar, a shoe box or even set-up a bank fund and place that money into the bank at your convenience. So for instance, in week one of the new year, you’ll want to save $1 and put it aside.
If you decide to take this challenge upon yourself and you want to stop around the week of Thanksgiving, this will help you save over $1,000 and use that towards a really cool spending spree for Black Friday and even save more money on gifts for others.
Okay, I give you permission to be selfish and use the money you save for something cool for yourself.
Parents: This is a great way to show your children how to save money and have them see their money grow.
If you want to be creative and go above and beyond this, you can set-up two funds if you really want to try saving a lot of money. Getting back to the basics, the chart below will demonstrate how much you will save each week by creating this “52 Week Money Challenge Fund” for yourself! It’s hard for me to believe that just a week ago we were flying home from our trip to South Africa! So I’m excited to finally be back to the land of the living and ready to write about the trip. I’ll also be sharing more about the work we are participating in there and how you are making a difference in very specific and tangible ways by purchasing products we sell and visiting this site.

It made me sort of sad to be stain-treating all the red South African soil stains on our clothes… It’s such a beautiful reminder of such a memorable week! Although i joke about my goals for the week being a shower and maybe a nap, I am so grateful for your posts. Your goals for your marriage are the ones that God really uses to both convict and inspire me.
At any rate, Mercedes has unearthed yet another money-maker deal this week: you can make $2 buying six boxes of South Beach Diet bars! I somehow stumbled on Baby Cheapskate and followed that and one day I must have found a link for your site.
Anyway, long story short, ever since then I’ve been CVSing to the fullest and have recently (maybe 2 weeks) started working Walgreens.
Don’t forget to use one of the Kraft coupons from All You to get a free item when you buy three Kraft products!
I agree about Walgreens being the new CVS–I have been VERY excited about Walgreens the last few weeks.
I’ve only been doing this a few months now, but my impressions are that CVS has more free stuff and moneymakers overall, but Walgreens has more and better deals on stuff that helps me reduce my normal grocery spending. Well, they seem to be expanding a lot these days, so maybe you’ll get lucky and one will open up right on your new block!
Then I used it in my second transaction (which included 3 Dimetap) and therefore no second $10 printed out for the Dimetap.
Then get rebate of $5.50 (counting 10% gc bonus), for a net cost of $3 for 6 items, or 50c ea. Actually I will probably throw in 1 mac n cheese for $1.79 to make my paid kraft items equal 6 so I can use another free wheat thins coupon. If you find that you are not able to keep up after a certain amount of weeks, just put the additional money you collected for the second fund into the first fund and you will have some extra money saved towards the end of the year. If you do this at the beginning, this will really help you get an extra few hundred dollars saved near the end of the year.

We do our best to keep this blog upbeat and encouraging, so please keep your comments cordial and kind.
So you could get a little peek into what we experienced, what we learned, and how it impacted us. But while the soil might wash out of our clothes, our love for South Africa can’t be scrubbed from our hearts. My son has fall break next week, so my goals this week are to get ahead on some freezer cooking, cleaning and blog articles so we can have a fun fall break together.
I am seriously really looking forward to reading everything about your trip and your experiences. I couldn’t be happier because we’re likely moving to the land-of-no-CVS next month so I will more than gladly take any and all deals that Walgreens wants to start handing out! And time to feel like I wasn’t walking around just trying to pry my eyeballs open with toothpicks. I’d love to have you share your progress on last week’s goals and your goals for this coming week in the comments. My goal for this week is to plan out a periscope course based on my Christmas On A Zero Budget : Printable Plan.
My poor sister however lives in Jeff City, MO and apparently that is also the land of no CVS.
Today I cast on circular needles for the first time and am halfway done with a hat to match another in-progress scarf!
If you can afford to do this, it’s a great way to save money towards something special later on.
