My workshop was offered as part of the Saviours of the Lost Arts (SotLA) festival happening in Brisbane at the moment. The festival started a few years ago, and the idea is to bring people together to celebrate and practice craft of all types… to keep ancient skills alive in our modern world. The intersection of old and new was what I had in mind when I put this workshop together – crochet (the old) with metal (the new!). The participants in today’s workshop had a blast… and we even had a visit from a group of Spanish ladies from the respite centre next door, who promptly went back to their activities room and gave it a go! Everyone left with 2 or three bracelets in different colours – some ladies even made necklaces, too. The ladies who were there loved it so much, I thought I’d share the instructions here, too, in case you want to have a go at this yourself. How To Make A Flat Pattern For A Cone – posted in Forming Sheetmetal: Does anybody have a formula for laying out a flat pattern for a sheet metal cone? I was originally inspired to make a crochet safety cone because of a pin version I bought from Nut and Bee.

Question from Izzy: Hello, I need to create a cone as a prop and my math is not good enough to create the pattern. The giant, shiny metal skull made from recycled kitchen utensils falls in to the latter and with Halloween around the corner, it might be a really enterprising venture. Crafter by Indian artist Subodh Gupta, the giant skull is simply too awesome to take a pass on, and it really is as crafted to perfection. Here on GreenPacks we're passionate about everything that involves a cleaner life on Earth. SotLA is being hosted by BrisStyle this year, and there are free workshops, pop-up markets, talks and more happening all over Brisbane from now until June. Tie an open knot at one end (you should be able to fit your pinkie finger through the opening of the knot) leaving a tail of no less than 6cm.
Put the tails at one end together and twirl them so they come together as one piece of wire (like you would twirl hair around your finger). Anchor your twirled end (perhaps get a friend to hold it, or put the end under something heavy) and proceed to plait the three pieces of crocheted wire together loosely.
Slide a lobster clasp onto the other end, and repeat the above process OR repeat the above loop-making process and then add a lobster clasp to one loop using a jump ring. Waffle cones and waffle bowls have a distinctive exterior cross-hatch pattern on their surface, but they differ from riding the 180 decel cone pattern on a Harley Road King.
Different people have various ways of recycling stuff and while some ensure that the recycled products are useful, the others make sure that they are works of art that spread the message.

Just stick a couple of glowing red LEDs in the eyes and play a horrific laugh behind and you could make yourself a cheap Hollywood flick as well!
While it may not really serve any practical purpose, it stops plenty of old metal from ending up in landfills and scrap.
It's true that our lives depend on a greener future, but the change should come from within.
Cut off any excess and use a tool to tightly clamp the ends down into the bracelet at the base of the loop. They come in the form of a half circle, and you snap the ends How to develop a cone or how to create a flat pattern of a cone can be achieved in a few easy geometrical steps. We first need to be good stewards to ourselves and then to Mother Nature, not the other way around. I have a need to create a pattern that I can derive scaled So cutting a pie slice from the large circle of 72 degrees will give you a flat pattern for the cone. This is a much more difficult pattern to make as it is to be built up from three blocks, is more difficult to turn, and requires great care in molding.
