WELCOME to “Save My Sanity Saturday” at One Good Thing By Jillee….where I attempt to avoid having a nervous breakdown by actually giving myself a day off from blogging once a week! So pull up a chair and sit back and enjoy an “oldie but goodie” from the One Good Thing By Jillee archives. As I continue to turn greener and greener (not literally of course!), I have started to think it might be time to RE-think all those plastic grocery sacks I bring home (and throw away) every week! Perfect for groceries, library books, tennis balls, gym clothes or pool supplies – anything you need to carry! I have some old fave shirts that I just could not throw away, guess I got a new use for them! This look is perfect for everyday, and gets style points from a super hot belt and pair of skinny jeans. We rolled up the sleeves to give the shirt a little more shape, and paired the look with strappy leather sandals.
For this look, we kept Brit’s sleeves rolled up and simply tied the shirt to expose a little sassy midriff. A pair of boat shoes, pinstripe pants, and a ruffled up shirt are all you need to channel your inner boat maven. To ruffle the shirt we did two things: First, put a rubber band around the sleeve and blouse it out to create a little bubble.
An ideal look if you’re starting your day at the office and ending it at a cocktail party, art opening, or concert.

Definitely the hippiest number on here, this look pairs good old boot leg corduroys with a DIY tube top! To create the top, fold the collar of the shirt into the inside, creating a semi shelf bra.
This is a great look for a Saturday in the park, and we love any reason to bring back vintage tees that don’t quite work on their own. The kids have made big houses, small houses, sprawling horse ranches, a rollercoaster, an underground maze of tunnels to nowhere, portals to alternate worlds. Minecraft has become engrained in the culture of our home.  So you can imagine the excitement when the boys found out what they were going to be *making* themselves for Christmas – Glow-in-the-dark Creeper Shirts! Fill-in the face by painting first with white acrylic paint.  Depending on the quality of the paint and how thick you paint, you might need to do two layers. I mean who doesn’t have like a million t-shirts they never wear tucked away in probably every closet in the house?
This look takes the classic look of a checkered shirt, Converse, and a plaid shirt and updates it with a little suspender action.
It’s got tons of little loops so you can wear it high-waisted, hip-slung, and anywhere in between.

Tuck the bodice and shirt into a pair of black trousers, and throw a long necklace over the whole look. Upgrade your look by going for a boldly hued pair of red jean and adding an old school t-shirt.
Made in roughly 5 minutes this morning in between fixing breakfast, making lunches, chauffeuring kids to school and getting ready for work!
Tuck your shirt into a high waisted skirt, add a simple thick black belt and throw on your hottest black heels. And if you have specific questions about any of the looks above, leave a note in the comments below. Sports teams, golf tournaments, 5 and 10K runs, family reunions, school spirit shirts….we all have them! Or maybe we all just love turning an ordinary piece of men’s apparel into an extraordinary accessory for ladies.
