Caerphilly County’s Citizens Advice Bureau has been praised in an independent report by auditors.
The audit, by national Citizens Advice, rates the quality of advice of the bureau as ‘very good’. The Caerphilly bureau has been rated in the top 25% of all Citizens Advice Bureaux in England and Wales.
Simon Ellington, director of Caerphilly County CAB, said: “This is a real vote of confidence in the bureau and I’m delighted with the result. Each Citizens Advice Bureau has to undergo a rigorous audit every three years to ensure it can remain a member of the national Citizens Advice association and that it can retain its Legal Services Commission ‘Quality Mark’.
We all know there’s lots of great online information about your rights; you can read all about what the Consumer Guarantees Act says, or about your rights under the Fair Trading Act.
The CAB has been helping New Zealanders resolve their problems for over 40 years and can help sort out your best options for any sort of problem you are having.
The CAB is staffed by over 2600 volunteers who are trained to deal with a wide range of different issues. One of the challenges of being a consumer in New Zealand is that you mostly have to enforce your own rights, even when the other party is clearly in the wrong. The CAB helps by talking to you about your problem and then providing information and options for what you can do to resolve your problem. As you become more and more aware of how you are feeling, you will become more aware of your words and thoughts. Essence numbers are complex calculations (so bear with us!) that are used to describe important transits in an individuals life.
There are two words that, when spoken, have the most unfathomable power to completely change your life.
When you exist in the great state of gratitude, you become a person who only wants to give. All being well, this means we can concentrate on this list only - treating it as dual-purpose.

Previously, we had to maintain two similar lists of organisations - one arranged A-Z and the other arranged by subject.
Items on all aspects of charitable house-to-house collections (especially of clothing etc) - economics, value-for-money, law, licensing of collections, enforcement, etc. Items on alternative ways of disposing of your unwanted goods - particularly charity shops.
The only charities listed below are (for example) umbrella charities or charities which help other charities - eg CAF, CRA, NCVO, SCVO.
And you can search it as usual - for instance using Ctrl-F (then using the Enter or F3 keys). You can tell if it sorts - your mouse pointer changes to a hand when you hover over a column heading. With some categories, we've split them into Government versus Non-Government status ('NG').
Our Type, Status and Subject allocations are pragmatic and informal - they're not legally definitive. Book by Hilary Blume - of the Charities Advisory Trust, pub 1995, around 200 pages, out-of-print? Deals with complaints about local councils - eg failure to tackle bogus clothing collectors.

Beware imposter ‘CAB’ cold callersImposters claiming to be from the CAB are cold calling people offering help with accident claims. We want to stress that no genuine CAB adviser, or anyone connected with the CAB service, would ever phone or text someone out of the blue.

If you are cold called or get a text about things such as loan offers, help with debt problems or accident claims – it is almost certainly a scam.

The bureau’s administration, finances and other systems are also up to the standard expected of a Citizens Advice Bureau guaranteeing continuing quality. It shows that clients can be sure that they will get very good advice from Caerphilly County CAB. The test for quality of advice is designed to strengthen the audit and ensure consistent, high quality service across the Citizens Advice service. However it’s not always clear what this actually means when you get stuck in a bad situation or what you can do about it. There are more than 85 sites across New Zealand that you can visit in person or you can call 0800 367 222 or contact them online. Last year the CAB helped with over 500,000 enquiries including over 50,000 relating to consumer issues, from dodgy tradespeople, problems with couriers, buying a lemon, direct sales and lots more. The CAB is very experienced at helping people understand what to do in this situation and helping people prepare for taking a case to the Disputes Tribunal.
They’ll listen to your story, help you work out your options, and provide you with the information you need to proceed. The new numbers are:  03454 040506 (main number) – this number replaces 08454 040506 03454 040505 (Welsh language) – this number replaces 08454 040505.
