A mystical fruit and a symbol of knowledge and immortality from antiquity, the apple, turned into apple cider vinegar, has a number of scientifically proven health remedies. Apple cider vinegar is purported to treat numerous health conditions, including head lice, reverses aging, eases digestion, prevents flu, prevents acne, lowers blood pressure, reduces inflammation, kills fungus, regulate pH balance, dissolves kidney stones and helps relieve allergies, migraines, asthma, nausea, heart burn and wash toxins from the body. Unpasteurized or organic ACV contains mother of vinegar, which has a cobweb-like appearance and can make the vinegar look  slightly congealed.
ACV is used in salad dressings, marinades, vinaigrettes, food preservatives, and chutneys, among other things. Apple cider vinegar is purported to treat numerous diseases, health conditions, and annoyances. Diabetes. The effect of apple cider vinegar on blood  sugar levels is perhaps the best researched and the most promising of APV’s health benefits. In another study from Arizona State University, subjects took a drink of 20 grams of apple cider vinegar and 40 grams of water. High Cholesterol. A 2006 study reported in Medscape General Medicine, showed evidence that ACV could lower cholesterol. Cancer. A few laboratory studies have found that vinegar may be able to kill cancer cells or slow their growth. A 2009 study on mice showed that consuming acetic acid (the active component in ACV), upregulates the expression of genes for fatty acid oxidation enzymes in the liver causing a suppression in body fat accumulation. In Norse mythology, the goddess I?unn is portrayed in the Prose Edda (written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson) as providing apples to the gods that give them eternal youthfulness.
Apple cider vinegar is chosen over white vinegar for many processes involving the elimination of fungus.
Aftershave: Fill a bottle with equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and shake to blend. Apples appear in many religious traditions, often as a mystical or forbidden fruit, a symbol for knowledge and immortality.
Drain Cleaner: Baking soda and apple cider vinegar is an amazing bubbly combination that has many uses. Digestion: A small amount of apple cider vinegar, taken just prior to a meal, will stimulate production of digestive juices. Alkaline Acid Balance: Some alternative practitioners recommend using apple cider vinegar to restore alkaline acid balance.

What's more, pimples aren't just a common skin problem — they're something of a scientific mystery, caused in part by poorly-understood colonies of bacteria that live in our pores and eat our skin oil. What scientists have learned so far, though, can tell us a lot about the trillions of bacteria that live throughout our bodies and profoundly affect our health in all sorts of ways.
This is the acne fact you probably know already, and it's something doctors have known for some time. Here's how it works: Your skin cells naturally die over time and are shed through the pores in your skin. These clogged pores lead to bacterial growth, inflammation, and the formation of nodules: the painful bumps we call pimples. Every single person has Propionibacterium acnes bacteria living in the pores of their skin. It's still unclear how these specific strains might clog pores, and whether they're typically contracted from other people, or evolve on a person's skin.
As we've found with bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, the idea that all skin microbes are bad is a dangerous oversimplification. Apart from the strains found more often in people with acne, her team's research also turned up P. Alternately, other researchers have explored the idea of using viruses to inject DNA into acne-causing strains of bacteria, in order to mutate them into benign strains.
It's unclear why this is the case, but some evolutionary biologists hypothesize that it might be due to the fact that our oil glands originally evolved to moisten the furry skin of our primate ancestors. Experts recommend that all people — including those who are prone to acne — should wash their faces no more than twice per day. As with dirt, the idea that greasy, high-fat foods cause breakouts has never been backed up by scientific research. Still, Graber cautions that this work is still in the early stages, and the idea that these foods cause acne hasn't been proven in controlled studies.
Dermatologists still don't fully understand why some people get acne scars and others don't, but they believe that popping is part of the equation. Of course, if you care more about the simple pleasure of popping than the long-term effect of scarring, pop away.
Dermatologists sometimes prescribe antibiotics to people who suffer from especially severe acne (in order to kill off bacteria and reduce overall inflammation).
Graber recommends that most people try using a benzoyl peroxide-based over-the-counter treatment for acne, and only ask a dermatologist for an antibiotic as a last resort — as trials have found that benzoyl peroxide is nearly as effective as antibiotics in treating acne.
She also notes that spot treatments designed to eliminate existing pimples are typically ineffective.

For many, the word -?fiber-? evokes visions of bland-tasting, far from satisfying, crunchy health food.
Fiber is a form of indigestible carbohydrates that promotes intestinal health, heart-health, blood sugar control, satiety and weight control. According to the Institute of Medicine, to optimally benefit from fiber, women under 50 years old should get at least 25 grams of fiber per day -- the average American diet contains a mere 15 grams. Brighten up your whole grain hot and cold cereals as well as whole grain toaster waffles with fresh fruit and crunchy nuts. Pilafs and grain salads are versatile dishes that can be deliciously mixed with a near endless array of ingredients. Instead of using breadcrumbs and flour to coat poultry or top-crust fish, use a mixture of crushed whole grain cereal or shredded wheat and breadcrumbs. The whole grain and multi-grain crackers and chips of today taste far better than the first fiber-full baked snacks.
Whole grains can become satisfying stuffings for vegetables, fruit, poultry, pork or pastries when combined with other ingredients. When your busy schedule requires quick-to-fix meals, reach for convenient frozen entrees made with whole grains and all natural ingredients. Most cases of Type II Diabetes are preventable with healthy diet and exercise habits, but factors like age, gender and genetics can also contribute to the development of the disease. High blood sugar is also a contributing factor, so the best thing you can do is keep your blood sugar levels in check by watching what you eat.
Nurse and author David Spero says that exercise reduces fatigue by 65%, so picking up a tai-chi or  water aerobics class isn’t such a bad idea.
Fortunately, cutting out excess sugars and carbohydrates is often all it takes to resolve the perpetual munchies. Foot complications are common among diabetics and could land you in the hospital if you’re not vigilant.
When you consider that 74% of diabetics die within five years of a foot amputation, you see why foot health is the second-most important realm of diabetes management, next to blood sugar regulation.
Most people do not have sufficient vital force to supply the eliminative organs with the strength to remove normal waste from the body. To name a few, it kills head lice, reverses aging, eases digestion, prevents flu, prevents acne, lowers blood pressure, reduces inflammation, kills fungus, regulate pH balance, dissolves kidney stones and helps relieve allergies, migraines, asthma, nausea, heart burn and wash toxins from the body. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found today. Those with insulin resistance who drank the vinegar had 34% lower postprandial (after-meal) glucose compared to controls. In a study published in a foreign medical journal, scientists found an apple cider vinegar-enhanced diet may increase in HDL (good  cholesterol), and reduce levels of triglycerides.
One study found that eating vinegar was associated with a decreased risk of  esophageal cancer.
In a double-blind experiment, obese Japanese were assigned to three different groups based on similar body weights, body mass indexes (BMI), and waist circumference.
Although they both have highly acidic properties; apple cider also contains detoxifying qualities that will clear up other skin allergies.
Dilute apple cider vinegar with two parts water, and spread the concoction over your face with a cotton ball as a toner. In Greek mythology, the hero Heracles, as a part of his Twelve Labors, was required to travel to the Garden of the Hesperides and pick the golden apples off the Tree of Life growing at its center. As a drain cleaner, sprinkle  baking soda down the drain then add apple cider vinegar and let it bubble for 15 minutes, then rinse with hot water. He is a leader in the natural health community and consults athletes, executives and most of all parents of children on the benefits of complementary therapies for health and prevention. Black and white neon signs blink and the old Times Square looms like the otherworld, naturalistic cordial racism separating the chosen from the downtrodden, both dreaming of making it, of creating something. When they have a big opening at the skin surface that gets filled with dried oil and darkened, dead cells, they become blackheads; when they remain covered with skin, trapping oil, bacteria, white blood cells, and pus, they become whiteheads.
Genetics appear to play a role in a person's odds of developing clogged pores, and several hormones — including testosterone — cause your glands expand and secrete more oil, further increasing the chance of clogging. These bacteria eat the oil secreted by your glands, and normally, they don't cause problems. But only one of them, as far as we know, naturally develops acne on a regular basis: humans. Once we lost all that hair, we had an excess of oil, which sometimes leads to clogged pores. But in many cases, research shows, these antibiotics aren't any more effective than over-the-counter treatments, and they have a major downside — leading to antibiotic resistance. Though it's sold in concentrations ranging from 2 to 10 percent, higher concentrations just dry your skin out, and don't actually work any better. Benzoyl peroxide and other medications can prevent acne from forming, but once it has, there's not much to do besides let it subside naturally over time. Michele is a health and wellness expert, personal chef, cookbook author, and pet-lover based in Bozeman, Montana. And with good reason, the fiber-rich health foods of yesterday were more about improving the diet and less about fulfilling flavor. And with the growing demand for fiber-rich foods, food manufacturers are including more vegetables, fruits and whole grains in their products.
By adding cooked whole grains, such as barley, wheat berries, brown rice, quinoa or buckwheat, to your salad bowl, you not only increase the fiber, you also add texture with a delicate chew – a nice contrast to crunchy vegetables.
Try a seven grain pilaf tossed with crumbled feta, roasted red peppers, olives and chopped fresh parsley. However, you can further improve their flavor by pairing them with creamy dips or chunky salsas. Instead of a processed preservative-heavy microwave dinner that is high in sodium, calories and fat, opt for wholesome entrees high in fiber, protein and - equally important - flavor.
Even small changes, such as eating whole grain cereal for breakfast or whole grain pilafs for dinner can deliciously improve your health.

Once you have Type II Diabetes, you are stuck with it, so understanding how to manage the symptoms through lifestyle modification is key.
Snacking on crunchy veggies along with a serving of meat or cheese will ultimately be much more rewarding. Bacteria and yeast are added to the liquid to start the alcoholic fermentation process, and the sugars are turned into alcohol. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Asia and Europe, and were brought to North America by European colonists. For instance, a study (White, A. Diabetes Care, November  2007) of 11 people with type 2 diabetes found that taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before bed lowered glucose levels in the morning by 4%-6%. Vinegar may be the most cost-effective medicine in history, but most people with diabetes still aren’t taking it. Research in rats suggests that apple-cider vinegar can help control triglycerides and cholesterol (Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, June 22, 2011).
A study (Ostman, E. European Journal of  Clinical Nutrition, 2005) of 12 people found that those who ate a piece of bread along with small amounts of vinegar felt fuller and more satisfied than those who just ate the bread. Each group drank a 500 ml drink containing either 30ml, 15ml, or 0ml of vinegar daily for 12 weeks. No side effects have been found when treating the skin with apple cider vinegar, making it a cost effective and safe remedy. You can do this at night after washing, and in the morning before you apply your  moisturizer. Popular Christian tradition has held that it was an apple that Eve coaxed Adam to share with her in the Garden of Eden. Proponents of the alkaline-acid theory believe that a diet high in  acid-producing foods leads to lack of energy, excessive mucous production,  infections, anxiety, irritability, headache, sore throat, nasal and sinus  congestion, allergic reactions, and increased risk of conditions such as  arthritis and gout. Ongoing work in this area could someday lead to probiotic treatments for acne: doses of beneficial strains that would crowd out harmful strains, and help unclog pores.
Scientists intentionally induce acne in mice and other species to be used for testing cosmetics and medicine, but as far as we know, no other animal regularly develops acne on its own. Other work, meanwhile, suggests that foods with a high glycemic index (like white rice and white bread) might contribute to acne. Researchers have found a few genetic variants that appear to be correlated with higher acne rates, but the overall picture is still unclear. However, today's fiber-rich products have struck a delicious balance between health and taste - and you don't even have to be on an extreme health food diet to enjoy them. It travels through your body like a sponge, absorbing bile acids, cholesterol and other toxins along the way. These tips are so flavorful, you will never equate fiber and bland, unsatisfying diet again. Top whole grain waffles with banana slices, toasted walnuts and a dollop of sour cream or yogurt.
Make a tropical grain salad by cooking brown rice with coconut milk (in place of the water) and mix it with crushed pineapple, green onions, shredded coconut and chopped macadamia nuts. Puree cream cheese or goat cheese with fresh herbs, garlic and a bit of curry for a Middle Eastern inspired appetizer. Look for all natural whole grain pizzas, pocket sandwiches filled with vegetables and lean proteins, and the increasing array of nutritious frozen dinners in your whole foods market or supermarket freezer aisle.
If you have been reluctant to try the growing array of whole grain products, give a new fiber-rich food a try and sink your teeth into the satisfying flavors you've been missing.
Trading in refined carbs for veggie shake breakfasts and protein-dense lunches has also shown to have a dramatic impact on fatigue.
Jarvis. During the alternative medicine boom of recent years, apple cider vinegar and apple  cider vinegar pills have become a popular dietary supplement.
In a second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria (acetobacter). Those in the 30ml and 15ml groups had lower BMI, visceral fat area, waist circumference, serum triglyceride, and body weight to the control group of 0ml. You can also dab apple cider vinegar directly onto age spots and  leave them on overnight to lighten their color. Even better, there are many creative ways to transform foods high in fiber into mouthwatering meals that are also high in flavor. Fiber also slows your body's uptake of glucose, keeping your blood sugar levels more stable, and it helps you feel full longer, resulting in you eating less.
And don't forget to slather whole grain toast or bagels with pureed fruit or fruit preserves. Make a fruit salsa with chopped strawberries, peaches, jalapeno and cilantro as a sweet-hot side for chips. Roll pilaf, sun-dried tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and fresh herbs in flattened chicken breasts or boneless pork loins.
Spero also recommends getting checked for conditions like anemia, hypothyroidism and testosterone deficiency — which can be root causes of fatigue.
In some cases, diabetes medications like Byetta, Metformin or corticosteroid hormones may be helpful.
Certain toxic wastes that are harmful to the whole body are rendered harmless by a miraculous substance in organic, raw ACV with the powerful mother enzymes.
In addition, apple cider vinegar’s acidity aids in detoxifying and cleansing the digestive tract and cleaning out the colon, which supports the health of the prostate as well. These two groups consumed a similar number of calories to the control group and also performed a similar amount of exercise, so the effect is not likely to have been due to an impact on appetite or other lifestyle changes.
