If I have a number at one hour of 140 or more, I quickly walk outdoors for about 20 minutes and it usually drops to 90 or so.

I really don’t see a problem with your readings, except perhaps the 177 which is a little high. It’s also very common for people who suffer from hypoglycemia to eventually become diabetic. Nuts I can see adding up if you really go to town on them, but I thought eggs were pretty safe, carb-wise? I have had readings after a main meal of 155, 177, 180 and even 200 and this is supposed to be prediabetic. By the way, if I ate oatmeal, yogurt and an apple for breakfast my reading would be 200 too. There’s no way to tell what damage could have happened except by tests your doctor can do.
Ken my suggestion is that you get a new doctor, one who is up to date on current standards.
I believe I suggested that you test more, especially around meals, to see if the changes you made are effective as they could be. My blog has only existed for a little over a year Debbie, but it will be here for many years to come.
Standards were much higher for an OGTT 12 years ago, they have changed twice since then and are now much lower.


It would be good if you could see a doctor with more knowledge of diabetes than this one apparently has. I didn’t know the standards for the OGTT has changed TWO times over the past 12 years?!! Many doctors don’t really know a lot about diabetes, you might do better to ask for a referral to a specialist. It always pays to educate yourself as much as possible and not take other people’s word for things.
