Our low glycemic index chart shows foods with both low and high glycemic index values a€“ it is a complete list of values. An additional note a€“ the values in the table above are averages collected from several sources. In addition to these simple steps, use the low glycemic index list above while shopping or eating out. I am going to put into place a low GI diet, not to loose weight, but to increase my energy so I don't feel lethargic. It is all about reducing the **** carbohydrates (White bread, white pasta, cakes, crisps, crap cereal etc) and replacing them with good carbohydrates e.g. My diet wont change drastically because I still eat all meats, diary products etc because they have very low or no carbs. Good luck with this, it will be tough going as your change is a choice and not needed so will power is going to be needed but I'm sure you'll crack it once you get used to it. I moved to brown rice and pasta and wholemeal bread (from the usual white varieties) with no potatoes about a year ago.
That meal plan does look good, but where I struggle is the lack of variety and the time in which I have to make this. People who are keen to have a healthy and beautiful body should know about the Glycemic Index chart and foods come under the list of low Glycemic index (GI). Most of the foods that people consume daily have high GI and should be avoided.  Most of the refined and processed foods come under the category of foods above Glycemic index as they contain several harmful chemicals like preservatives or flavorings.

Control Cholesterol level:  One can reduce and control his cholesterol level by following a low GI diet. Appetite control: Low GI foods have the capacity to make you feel full for long periods of time. Reduce the risk of cancer:  You can decrease the risk of cancer by following a low GI diet.
Enhance physical endurance: Since it has the ability to keep the blood sugar level at a moderate level, it helps to increase your physical endurance. Be aware that certain types of foods might have different varieties that will have different GI. The shift to low glycemic index foods will give you a fighting chance to improve your health.
I have a couple of close friends who are type 1 and my mate's 10 year old daughter also suffers. Each time you have a sugary or starchy food or drink, the blood glucose level in your body rises. The Glycemic Index is a tool that rank the carbohydrates based on the capacity of the food to affect the blood sugar level from 0-100.
These foods will generally make your blood sugar rise more gradually, which gives your body time to signal for a smaller and more gradual increase in insulin production. Some of these foods are quickly digested and cause quick and sharp rises in your blood glucose levels ? they are called high GI foods and drinks. Most of the people consume high GI food knowingly or unknowingly, that leads to several health issues.  By avoiding high GI foods and sticking to a low GI diet, one can achieve many health benefits.

The foods that are easily digested and absorbed rank high on the Glycemic Index chart which have the capacity to increase the sugar level rapidly. This means your body starts to digest the food and breaks it into sugar more slowly and evenly than with other foods. While these foods are OK in moderation, they are not considered to be low glycemic index foods.
We call these foods flooders, as they flood your body with sugar and they have a higher potential to cause cell damage due to the high sugar spike. The body takes longer to digest these types of foods and thus delays the sugar from entering the blood stream. Low GI foods and drink, which are more slowly digested, will make your blood glucose rise more slowly. If you don't mind posting a view different meals you have then I'm more than likely going to give it a go. Further, some GI values can change due to differences in ripeness or age of the food a€“ food can be picked, stored and then consumed a year after picking or the day it was picked a€“ this age impacts the GI, as well as nutritional and vitamin content.
