Living in the South during the summer, one of my favorite sites is the array of hydrangea bushes, from their deep, grape purples to their bright, festive pinks and the powdery blue periwinkles.
Thinking about this lead me to ponder the pH of our bodies and how it impacts the color of our health. Inner body environment pH (a measurement of the concentration of hydrogen ions; pH = potential of Hydrogen) is important and, in fact, crucial to human life and wellbeing. An acidic pH (a low ability to attract Hydrogen ions) can occur from acid forming foods, emotional stress, toxic overload or any process that deprives the cells of oxygen.

To restore and maintain optimal health with an alkalizing (a high ability to attract Hydrogen ions) diet, a minimum ratio of 80% alkalizing foods to 20% acid forming foods is ideal.
You are able to find many acid and alkalizing food charts online and they will vary to a degree as food and body interaction is not an exact science, however most charts will show that raw fruits and vegetables – foods naturally abundant with the alkalizing minerals calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium intact -and most waters fall under the 7-10 (alkaline) range. To neutralize a glass of cola with a pH of 2.5, it would take 32 glasses of alkaline water with a pH of 10. Cancer cells thrive in an anaerobic environment, meaning one where oxygen content is very low.

Lacking a sense of moral responsibility and social conscience, Sugar in today’s society is functioning like that of a sociopath.
Choose foods containing naturally occurring sugar, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
To avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
This is because every bite of food affects their blood sugar levels, and ultimately the health of their unborn baby.
Yes, it is important to closely monitor your diet and blood sugar levels, but you do not have to stress so much. What you eat, how much of it you eat, and when you eat are constant matters of great importance because regulating your blood sugar is an integral part of your healthy pregnancy. A lot of women tend to panic when even thinking about the possibility of gestational diabetes.
Taking an extra few minutes each morning to sit down and eat breakfast gives you time to reflect on the tasks of the day and will help you remember things you might have otherwise forgotten.
If you skip breakfast, you are heading out with an already empty tank.  Typically, breakfast is your first chance to eat the eight or more hours that have passed since your evening meal. A good breakfast kick starts your metabolism, helping you feel fuller and more energized throughout the day.
With your metabolism in check and body functioning properly and happily, you are likely to have better focus throughout the day.
You are giving yourself a boost that will allow you to fuel you through the rest of your day. To be able to diagnose gestational diabetes in a pregnant woman, it is not enough to only rely on the physical manifestations, such as blurring of vision, increased thirst, increased appetite, and increased urination.
You should consult your doctor first before having an OGTT while taking the aforementioned drugs. I don’t know much about growing flowers, but I do know that there is a trick to changing the color of the hydrangea blossoms by changing the pH of the soil. The body’s ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, the energy production of the cells, the ability to repair damaged cells, and the ability to detox heavy metals will all decline in an acidic environment. The mineral content of a food is the primary determining factor as to whether the food produces an alkaline or an acidic reaction in the body. Most grains, processed sugar, animal foods, nuts, fruit juices, coffee, drugs and alcohol fall in the 6-0 (acidic) range. To alkalize the blood, the body will leach calcium from the bones, leaving the skeleton calcium deficient. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Holistic Health & Healing, she enjoys helping others discover the benefits and liberation inherent in a whole food, plant-based diet. These are the words that came to my mind when I put down my green juice to momentarily ponder the dietary evil …. This alone can cause many women a lot of stress when it comes to finding healthy meal ideas that fit into a gestational diabetes diet. It is actually fairly easy to find delicious and healthy meal ideas that are good for gestational diabetes patients. When your blood sugar is low and your body is craving sustenance, it is going to tell you something is wrong in the form of irritability. If you aren’t starting your day already empty and hungry, you are less likely to make poor choices when it comes to snacking and exercise. Gestational diabetes does mean that you have to watch what you eat to keep your blood glucose levels in check for the safety of your own health as well as the health of your unborn child.
In small doses, it is okay to occasionally indulge in a little bit of sugar free sweets, but there are way more satisfying and healthy sweets for you to eat.
If you are skipping breakfast, you are missing out on a myriad of benefits that include mood boosting, energy, and more. Skipping breakfast is a fast track to mood swings and surly behavior, add to that the normal stresses of everyday life and you are basically handing yourself a bad day. By taking a few minutes out of your morning routine to eat, you are giving yourself an energy boost that will help keep you sustained until your next meal. One of the tests that are being done on women to finalize their diagnosis of gestational diabetes is the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). It is very important for gestational diabetes to eat small meals throughout the day to maintain consistent blood sugar levels. Give yourself a hand up and make sure to eat breakfast to give yourself a mood boost for the day.
It is also essential to visit the health care provider to monitor not only the condition of the mother, but also of the baby. Also, experiment with the sweeteners Stevia (which comes from a leaf), and xylitol, which comes from birch trees; these have no zero on blood sugar levels! Three more blood extractions will be done every hour for the succeeding three hours, hence the test will last for approximately 3 hours. PS: other sweeteners, like the historically popular sweet’ n’ low for example, are even worse for you than table sugar!
The values derived from the OGTT will determine whether a pregnant woman has gestational diabetes or not.
