Beetroot is a plant which comes from the same family as sugar beets which are the raw material for producing sugar. Beetroot has gained popularity off late as a power vegetable mainly because it is said to be natural stamina booster while also helping the body fight against rising sugar levels and obesity. Studies have shown that those who drink beetroot juice on a regular basis are less susceptible to cardiovascular problems. Beetroot can also regulate the sugar level in the blood with the help of the alpha-lipoic acid present in its composition. Beetroot may not be overburdened with nutrients and minerals but one thing that it is certainly rich in is dietary fibre. Beetroot juice is the drink of choice for professional athletes as it leads to faster oxidation of muscles ultimately meaning that they can work out longer in the field without getting tired. The dietary fibre in beetroot is pretty effective for burning down the cholesterol which ultimately results in weight loss and a healthier life.
Beetroot is said to be extremely healthy for the brain as it promotes blood flow to the upper most organ of our body. Beetroot is a really unique vegetable which also has properties to fight against inflammation. As the name suggests, the beetroot is actually a root, much the same way as an onion or radish.
These leafy veggies can easily be cooked much the same way as spinach or even be mixed with some other vegetables in a sort of broth. Beetroot is a pretty versatile vegetable which contains a little bit of a lot of vitamins and minerals but does not specifically contain any one particular compound in a large quantity.
Some of the vitamins which beetroot gives to the body are Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, thiamine and riboflavin. When I saw the headline “Beetroot Juice May Boost Aerobic Fitness For Swimmers” I did a double take. Nitric oxide is a colorless, odorless gas that serves as an important signaling molecule in the human body.
It is logical that natural sources of nitrates, such as beetroot juice, would have a similar beneficial effect on exercise, but it is only in the last couple of years that scientists have started to evaluate that possibility. It improves exercise performance at moderate to severe exercise levels, but not at low exercise levels. It improves exercise performance for untrained or moderately trained athletes, but not for highly trained athletes.
The studies were internally consistent and were consistent with previous studies done with arginine supplements. Nitrates and arginine are both converted to nitric oxide in the body, so it is plausible that they will have similar effects. Arginine supplements have been around for years and appear to have a modest affect on exercise performance with untrained and moderately trained athletes, but not with highly trained athletes. Nitrate supplements are just starting to be evaluated for their effects on exercise performance.
The clinical studies published so far suggest that nitrate supplements are similar to arginine supplements in that they have a modest effect on high intensity exercise in untrained and moderate trained athletes (people like most of us). If the effects of nitrate supplementation published to date are accurate they should be most beneficial for weight training and high intensity exercise because even modest increases in exercise endurance can result in an incremental increase in muscle mass and strength over time. The problem is that sprinkling a little fruit and vegetable powder into a processed food will never provide the full range of nutrients that those fruits and vegetables would have provided.
One of my pet peeves is the food supplement manufacturers who try to tell you that they have concentrated a cornucopia of fresh fruits and vegetables in a capsule. You can do this kind of calculation with each ingredient they claim is in their capsules.  But when you add up the number of capsules needed to get a reasonable amount of each of these ingredients, the capsule total is staggering. As for essential nutrients, when you read the labels on some of these products you discover that their capsules only contain small amounts of a few essential nutrients.
On the other hand, if the label does list significant amounts of the essential nutrients, that’s usually because purified vitamins and minerals have been added to the final product.
The same deceptive marketing practices have also entered the lucrative protein supplement marketplace.
You are being told that these products contain dozens of fruits and vegetables that provide vitamins and antioxidants in their natural form. You are being told that these products contain super foods that provide important phytonutrients, but none of those phytonutrients is present in sufficient quantities to be featured on the nutrition label. Many of you have asked me about companies that claim their supplement has the amount of vitamin C found in 7 oranges or the amount of folic acid found in 4 cups of cooked green peas.  Those are allowed claims and are generally accurate. We are being told that we should read labels to make sure that the foods and supplements we buy are good for us. Ignore the label claims of fruits and vegetables added to the processed foods you see in the market. Leave those supplements claiming to have concentrated lots of fruits and vegetables into a single capsule on the shelf. Forget those protein supplements that make amazing claims based on all the fruits, vegetables, super foods, and herbal ingredients they have. Finally, many of you have asked me about companies that claim their supplement has the amount of vitamin C found in 7 oranges or the amount of folic acid found in 4 cups of cooked green peas. However, when compared to their cousin, the beet root is completely different in its nutritional composition as well as taste and colour. Beetroot also helps in maintaining the blood pressure and does not let it rise up above average. This acid can decrease the glucose level in the blood and also increase the body’s sensitivity to insulin.
Due to this, eating beetroot is sure to promote healthy digestion while eliminating problems like constipation or difficulty in bowel movement. The red colour of the beetroot is because of the presence of beta cyanine which is known to be one of the best anti oxidants.
The iron and calcium present in the beet greens can help fight against diseases related to the bone structure like osteoporosis.
The greens also act as a booster to the body’s immune system through production of white blood cells. It can be cut into slices along with other salad ingredients or it can even be grated and added over the salad to give it an even more colourful look.

Apart from this, beet root also contains trace amounts of iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and manganese.
However, clinical studies on arginine have been mixed, with some showing small enhancements in performance and others showing no significant effect.
However, you should keep in mind that even a 20% increase in endurance during high intensity exercise can result in a significant incremental increase in muscle mass if the exercise is repeated on a regular basis. This is most likely because one of the effects of training is to increase blood supply to the muscles. Most of the research so far has been with beetroot juice, but the results should be similar for any naturally sourced nitrate supplement. We are told we need more fiber, whole grains, fruits & vegetables, nuts and omega-3s in our diet.
The chemical companies make a variety of fruit and vegetable powders that food manufacturers can add to their products. For example, one company claims that their capsules contain apple, barley, broccoli, beet, cabbage, carrot, cranberry, date, garlic, kale, oats, orange, parsley, peach, pineapple, prunes, spinach, plant enzymes, fiber, and acidophilus.  All this in one capsule! They simply do not provide significant amounts of the vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients you would have been getting if you ate the real foods. Those products are no different from any other multivitamin supplement except that they contain insignificant quantities of fruit and vegetable powders that provide no additional health benefits.
You are being told about protein products that are full of fruits & vegetables, super foods and herbs. However, when you read the label it is obvious that many of the vitamins and minerals in that product never saw a fruit or vegetable.
You are told that these products contain herbal ingredients with amazing healing powers, but none of the active ingredients of the claimed herbs are present in high enough quantities to be included on the nutrition label. Manufacturers are adding fruit and vegetable powders and a pinch of herbal ingredients to their protein powders so that they can make marketing claims, but those fruit and vegetable powders and herbal ingredients aren’t present in large enough quantities to make any significant impact on your health. Just don’t assume that the vitamin C actually came from 7 oranges (it didn’t) or that their supplement has all the nutrients found in 7 oranges (it doesn’t). Those claims are grossly deceptive because the capsules do not contain significant amounts of the fruits and vegetables listed on the label. Once again, the fruit and vegetable powders and herbal ingredients in these products are not present in sufficient quantities to provide any significant health benefits. I don't have any more idea about this topic before read this article and now i got a detail information from here. Here, we are discussing to cure it with home remedies but at first it is important to know what the vision disorder is? Because smoking can increase the risk of age related macular collapse, damage in optic nerve, glaucoma, dry eye problem and continuous water fall. Because, these can dry the air of the house.Humidifiers are suggested to use because they can maintain the humidity of the house.
It will help to decrease the risk of blindness or any injury regarding cornea because in this position the eye lids are slightly closed so the eyes will not dry out. Make sure not to use the towel in sharing because the sharing of towel may transfer the germs and creates infections in eye. Research proved that those who take the Vitamin C supplements daily will less suffer the visionary problems. Take carrot juice or eat raw carrot regularly both are very beneficial for your eyesight as well as your skin.
Some snack foods can be a sneaky source of extra calories thanks to unhealthy fats and they won't keep you satisfied for very long. Beetroot juice has also become quite popular, mostly because of the many health benefits of this vegetable which is also described as a power food. Moreover, anti oxidation does not only cleanse the blood, it also gives you a cleaner and glowing complexion. However, eating beetroot can reduce the chances of memory loss as it keeps the brain healthy.

These green leaves are also a great source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and minerals like zinc, manganese, potassium, calcium, etc.
In fact, eating beet greens is extremely healthy for the bones and will also ensure that you do not suffer from joint pains at an early age. Grated beetroot can even be added along with coleslaw and used as a filling for your sandwich.
If that proves to be too difficult, you can also simply boil the beets and marinate them with other herbs, oils, salad dressings or lemon juice. Are there real health benefits of beetroot juice for athletes?  So I looked up recent papers on the topic.  But, before I review those I should give you a little science behind the idea that beetroot juice might affect performance.
This increased blood flow appears to be preferentially distributed to the type 2 muscle fibers which support moderate to high intensity exercise. Most experts now think that the benefits of arginine are primarily seen with untrained or moderately trained athletes (people like you and me) – not for highly trained or elite athletes. After 6 days of beetroot juice supplementation, the workload was increased by 6% and the energy cost was decreased by 12% when the swimmers were performing at their maximal capacity. Thus, highly trained athletes already have enhanced blood flow to the muscles, and the effect of arginine supplementation on blood flow is less noticeable.
Thus, the effect of nitrate supplements on exercise appears to be very similar to the effect of arginine supplements on exercise. We are being told that we should be eating “super foods” we’ve never heard of because of their amazing health benefits. But who wants to spend the time peeling an orange or washing the pesticides off that broccoli? Therefore, to get the equivalent of one serving of oats from a capsule, you would have to consume 56 capsules!  And that’s assuming that the entire capsule was filled with oats. They were synthesized in a chemical laboratory and added to the final product along with the fruit and vegetable powders. Food manufacturers know an emerging trend when they see one, so many of them are adding fruit and vegetable powders to the foods and supplements they manufacture.

Most importantly, beet greens are extremely rich in iron, even more so than other green leafy vegetables like spinach or broccoli. Thus, nutrients that enhance nitric oxide levels might be expected to improve moderate to high intensity exercise. The best dietary sources of nitrates are beetroot, spinach and other leafy green vegetables. The amount of oxygen required to support the moderate intensity exercise was decreased by 19% in the beetroot juice group. As a consequence, more and more Americans are reading labels to be sure that the foods and supplements they are buying are healthy. It’s much more fun to get our fruits and vegetables from chips, pasta, and breakfast cereals.
They are talking about “enhancing your presence in the marketplace,” not making your food healthier. These companies are just mixing a little fruit and vegetable powders in with their protein powder. This increases the marketing appeal of their products, but does nothing to make their products healthier. Once again, the best way to get the fruits and vegetables you need in your diet is to actually eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Make it a habit; it is more beneficial if you do barefoot walk on the green grass in the morning. So make sure to keep these things in mind if you’re wondering how to improve eyesight. These suggestions are very important to follow if you’re wondering how to improve eyesight. All the ingredients married well in a rich and salty sauce like you would expect from a good Italian dish. For severe intensity exercise, the amount of oxygen needed to support the exercise was decreased by 23% and the time to exhaustion was increased by 16% in the beetroot juice group.
These eye exercises will help you to brighten up your vision and also helps to remove glasses permanently. Resting blood pressure and oxygen uptake kinetics during exercise were significantly improved in the beetroot group.
No significant differences were observed between the beetroot juice group and the placebo group during the transition from stationary to moderate intensity exercise. The antioxidants which are present in blueberries may help to prevent age-related macular collapse. However, for the transition from moderate intensity to high intensity exercise both efficiency of oxygen utilization and endurance were increased by 22% in the beetroot juice group. Beetroot are best to add up in diet because they are full of antioxidants which provide shelter to blood vessels of the eye and body.
Spinach is also best, it have lutein, this nutrient helps to reduce the risk of cataract and age-related collapse.
