SEG 2014 Chevron Full Waveform Inversion Synthetic

SEG 2014 Chevron Full Waveform Inversion Synthetic

2D MARINE ISOTROPIC ELASTIC SYNTHETIC SEISMIC BENCHMARK

April 2014

In April of 2014 Chevron distributed a new model for the 2014 FWI SEG workshop. Like the previous 2012-2013 models the data is 2D elastic isotropic marine seismic benchmark synthetic.

Data for each workshop is distributed with the data license agreements attached to each distribution. These licences are very similar to the following licence.

DATA LICENSE AGREEMENT

Data for the workshops are all very similar. The current license is:

You can download these data with bittorrent, if you install that software on your computer. This is an excellent idea if a group of people all want to download the data at the same time. Many organizations do not allow bittorrent because the software has been used abusively to transfer excessive ammounts of data. There are links below to download without bittorrent. I am interested in your input on bittorrent. Please email me at k_schleicher@hotmail.com.

Move these files into a directory you want to uncompress and untar and run:
cat seg_workshop_fwi_2014.tar.gz.parta? | tar -xvz

wget commands to download, cat, and tar the files.

You can download from the command line in a terminal using wget. This was much faster on some tests. The commands are:

wget http://s3.amazonaws.com/open.source.geoscience/open_data/seg_workshop_fwi_2014/seg_workshop_fwi_2014.tar.gz.partaa
wget http://s3.amazonaws.com/open.source.geoscience/open_data/seg_workshop_fwi_2014/seg_workshop_fwi_2014.tar.gz.partab
cat seg_workshop_fwi_2014.tar.gz.parta? | tar -xvz
