This is a Custom Aquarium Stand that was commissioned by a awesome customer that wanted it to be similar to their entertainment center.
DISCLAIMER: Any posts on LJ are posted by individuals acting in their own right and do not necessarily reflect the views of LJ. I built an aquarium stand for my new frag tank and tried to document a few steps along the way, so as to help others in their designs. I went through several design changes, and ended up mimicking a few simple designs I saw on the internet. Then I began to piece things together and lay everything out to get a good idea of how I wanted things.

We're always in search of more writers to help diversify our site and bring in a fresh perspective on the aquarium hobby.
Attempt some different types of joinery and fimd out how easy or difficult different woods are to work with. You have to see it to believe it. I will take you on a picture tour from raw furniture to finished product in home. The tank will sit on reinforced vertical supports, with a piece of foam insulation between it and the stand to make the tank sit as level as possible.
I’ve been adding projects to my to do list…and I hope I get to live long enough to make all of them!

The outside was also painted, but with a dark brown paint (staining didn’t work out too well).
I let the pain dry overnight, then I brought the stand into the room, put the foam and tank on it, and began filling the aquarium with water.
