Sinopsis:
Manolo Bonilla (John Leguizamo), presentador estrella de un programa de noticias sensacionalistas de Miami, viaja junto con su equipo a una pequeña ciudad ecuatoriana para cubrir la historia de un asesino en serie de niños, el Monstruo de Babahoyo. La muerte accidental de un niño lleva a los habitantes de la ciudad al borde de linchar a Vinicio Cepeda (Damián Alcázar), un humilde vendedor ambulante. Sin embargo, la intervención de Manolo salva la vida del hombre. Vinicio es encarcelado por homicidio involuntario y ofrece a Manolo información sobre el Monstruo a cambio de que Manolo emita un reportaje sobre su injusto encarcelamiento. Manolo acepta, atraído por el lado oscuro que intuye en Vinicio, y pronto empieza a saltarse las reglas, decidido a ser el héroe que, sin ayuda de nadie, detenga al asesino.
